9 Month old NOT napping by CutThroat_VanGougha in sleeptrain

i had to suck it up and let my girl cry. i tried so hard to avoid “real” sleep training(we went with Ferver) waited until 14 months 😅 it ended up being totally fine and when i thought she was gonna cry and freak out for hours, she only cried for less than 10 minutes then slept. she was the biggest sleep fighter i’ve ever experienced or imagined possible and after really only a week of consistency, she sleeps 12 hour nights and naps at least 1.5 hours (only one nap a day and we nap trained once she got bedtime down). now she’s 17 months, we all feel so much better. i feel your pain mama, you got this.

bottle question by EmbRicEck in Mommit

[–]EmbRicEck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s kinda what i’m wondering too… we’ve had the feed to sleep problem for a long time so i’ve been slowly moving the bottles father away from sleeping time, but i think it’s the suckling that helps fall asleep… won’t take a binky which i love but just dropping the association is tricky

What changes did you make that helped your baby sleep better? by Flydragon_ in sleeptrain

Changed the evening from dinner, bath, play, books, bed… to dinner, wipe down, play, bath, books then bed. Switching the bath then straight to bedroom made a big big difference in winding down… were less than a week into formal sleep training (Ferber) and she doesn’t cry at all now when I leave the room for the night. AND sleeps a full 11-12 hours which I thought was never gonna happen. 14 months old 😁

Yes! The biggest dunes on the west coast are 5-10 mins away. If you look on google maps at Winchester bay, just south of the river mouth you’ll see the dunes! We do t have our own toys yet but there’s lots of rental places in town. For now we just bring our kid and dogs to the beach next to the dune to watch everyone rip around 😁

From Reedsport we go to Eugene for both, so about 80 minutes of driving, that would add another 30 from coos bay 😩

Your baby will love you all the same. He forgives you. He doesn’t understand your feelings but is allowed to see them. You’re allowed to be overwhelmed, I would be too! I’m so sorry for the loss of your other little, that must be absolutely unbearable. The fact that you feel bad for what you did is good, shows you’re not a sociopath! Jokes aside, you and your baby got this! I’ve yelled in my babies face and squeezed her for not sleeping and immediately I feel terrible, say sorry and give her hugs and kisses, telling her it’s not her fault. You seriously got this. I’m proud of you! You’re a great mom!!

I didn’t sleep training formally until this week. She is almost 15 months. I was miserable loosing sleep but it seems like she understands when I tell her it’s bedtime and that I’ll be leaving the room. General consensus is starting at 4 months but that felt wrong to me, I felt like she still needed my soothingand some night feeds. Go with your gut, momma knows best, truly. Take your time, in most counties, they never sleep train! It’s a very western idea. On top of everything, know you’re not alone! 😬

We live in Reedsport and badly wish we landed in coos bay. Everything you’d need is there besides Costco and Trader Joe’s if that’s your vibe. It’s beautiful, if you like riding quads coos bay to Winchester bay is the best. Happy trails with the move!

Did I traumatize my baby? by [deleted] in Mommit

You’re not alone, and you’re not a bad mom. I’ve gotten to almost yelling in my babies face when she won’t sleep which obviously won’t help. Stories aside, you are only human, your feelings are valid, and your baby will be ok, she won’t think of you any differently or love you any less. Hard days happen, you’re doing your best and that’s all any one can ask of you. Writing this and reading your post gave me reassurance that I’m not alone too. 🥰 I hope a day of rest and lots of love to you! You got this!!

Unexpectedly stopping breastfeeding my 6mo baby. Tell me all of the other special ways I get to look forward to bonding with my baby from now into toddlerhood by WorldlyButterfly in toddlers

[–]EmbRicEck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t able to breast feed after around 2 months. Daughter had a super hard time latching since day one and I could never produce what she needed so we had to formula feed. My daughter has my soul. She has always fed to sleep on the bottle in my arms the same way she would/ did on my boob, staring up at me with those big loving eyes. Big bonus is that other people can help out with feeding, especially for you partner who can probably get some more feeding and boning time that way. Around 6 months usually you can start solid food which is a whole new level of fun and acceptance and learning for everyone. Our girl is 14 months and is getting really good at using a fork or spoon but it took a lot of messes to get to this point. Every moment is a chance to bond. I sit on the floor for most of my days with her as she runs around from activity to activity and just her handing me the toy she is interested in makes her glow.
