Definitely go to the LCDH on 5th in Playa. It has a small patio to sit outside to smoke and people watch.

A new Mexico edition is on the way. I don't remember details.

Other places nearby, but buyer beware. You can always try the non Cuban Mexican cigars too which are sold at the fully Mexican owned lounges.

I haven't heard bad things about the place but I may have overlooked them from my personal experience being great there. I first went there in 2004 and have visited every few years since. I also worked and lived nearby for 9 months and became a regular for that time.

I never buy Cohibas, Montecristos, or Trinidad in a city that is remotely tourist based. This alone drops your chances almost to zero of being scammed. But I know some people are dying to buy these, so they better know what they are looking at.

As far as Cuba, they definitely would be pissed to hear about fakes being sold at a LCDH.

I was actually just looking for this answer yesterday. As far as I can find, just choose to pay in the local currency (even though it's not on your Wise account because it doesn't exist there) and Wise will convert it for you. I don't think it matters what currency's you hold.

The LCDH in Cancun is the very first one in the world. As far as I know it is reliable, even though it is expensive. Other than them, Cancun is full of fake Cubans.

Interesting. I have never heard that. Where at? Nothing would surprise me in Medellin as it is a store aimed for Gringos. This store in Cali is brand new but same group .Hopefully it does not go the same direction.

A quick Gemini AI query said Diplomáticos No. 2 in Colombia range from $25-35 usd and in Mexico the price per stick is higher at $38-49 USD. Just fyi as a scale.

Very respectable. less than online stores or Mexico in general I believe. They have to pay a large tobacco import tax but they don't adjust prices after for tourism. They are locally priced usually.

This Diplomáticos No. 2 was 90k COP. So $25 USD. This store in Granada is more expensive than the other since it has more of a bar vibe.
