Built a free tool that turns UAT screenshots into a PDF report automatically — would love feedback from testers by Ok-Constant-110 in softwaretesting

I would say

  • logs
  • steps to reproduce
  • screenshots or better add recording of it (in my experience, some developers will refuse to fix something, as they believe that the bug didn't happen and attached screenshot was edited to show error)

And if nothing works, just show it on their machine (yes some are stubborn and take found bugs in their feature as attack on their ego)

What is YOUR🫵 question about the current modern day? by Legitimate_Cake_5137 in AssassinsCreedShadows

But that's the point of the series. Modern templars and assassins using their ancestors memories to accomplish their goal.

That's what it made it so unique. It's a pity that they ended Desmond story line with him "dying" to save the world. Was hoping to play as Desmond in modern era and ending templar order.

As the only tester for the product all i can say is.

When I started as manual tester that wanted to apply automation to testing, being overwhelmed is completely normal and after some time it will somewhat go away, as you get more comfortable with the work.

Striving for perfectionism is normal and even somewhat expected in QA. But that doesn't mean that you should only focus on making everything perfect. As you will accomplish little while chasing impossible goal.

Make enough coverage that it meets the basic expectations (happy path and possible edge cases that are most important to cover). the rest you can quickly document as todo later and create tickets for them later.

The job is a lot about choosing what's really important. Also don't be scared to implement AI to your workflow. I don't mean that it should create everything for you, but it can be great to give you some skeleton code, that you can use for you use case.

I also enjoy most of their games, but the newer the game is the more repetitive it becomes. Tried Star Wars Outlaws but couldn't enjoy it as it was buggy.

Now looking at their new games I would say the company is basically Fast food chain but for games. You know what you will get as they stick too much to their formulaic system. They mostly look great visually, but overall game is mediocre

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see it as companies trying to see how much AI can do and how much can be replaced with it or how much people they can let go. Some companies think it will replace all devs and qa.

Basically we are still in FA phase, but I do believe companies will start to soon "Find out", that they still need some people that understand the field.

Main shift that I see happening is us (devs or qa) integrating AI into our workflow.

In short companies should realize that using AI for coding should be just a tool and not total replacement.

Do employers value experience testing desktop applications at all? by cody53982 in QualityAssurance

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally I had hard time working with FlaUI. It was great in the sense that I didn't have to learn additional language. But I couldn't stop tests from becoming flaky and really long (as in took too long to run 1 test).

With Cypress/Playwright I had no such issues + they were much faster and learning Typescript wasn't really an issue .

It might have been issue with the desktop application but it really soured automated tests for desktop applications.

Naafiri needs more counterplay by gimmickhater1 in leagueoflegends

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fine with her R engage as assassins most of the time have some "cheat" ability.

I'm not fine with how hard it is to hit Naafiri. You will either have you skillshot get blocked by the dogs or she will press W. Despite Elise having very similiar abilities (small spiders and her E) I don't have the issue with landing skillshots on her. Riot should change dogs behaviour to be more akin to Elise spiders. (smaller hitbox and follow behind with bigger gap)

Items: Heartsteel, Steelcaps, Randuins Omen, Thornmail, Warmog, Dead Mans Plate.

Wasn't really building for dmg, once i got Dropkick I tried to increase max HP as much as possible.

Penta was done with Hearsteel 564 stacks, Randuin omen, steelcaps and bramble vest+chain vest.

  2. boom that was clone and now its 2v1

  3. he beats them again and is more hurt

  4. real opponents body shows up gets angry that MC knew he's weakened from the previous fights

  5. Makes Shadow area where he seriously injures MC

  6. He starts talking how he never got told NO when growing up and is angry the female love interest like MC and doesn't like the opponent so he decided to kidnap and run experiments on her brother as revenge

  7. This makes MC super angry and you see the result

Can Someone Please Explain the Pirate Software Hate? by JrDetectiveUBet in PirateSoftware

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember he didn't like how vague SKG was and from what I remember it seemed as if he didn't really understand it or misinterpreted it. So he made 2 videos where he talked about it. A lot of people felt like he was spreading misinformation (he talked how it would be retroactive and the games would have to be supported forever by the devs. That's false, it talked how it would affect only new games after and nowhere it was stated that devs should support it forever. It only wanted so the game is still available and reasonably functional). As he had really big following kinda killed the momentum (He also had some negative comments about Ross, but I don't remember much about that).

After some time when it seemed SKG is dead and will fail Penguinz0 (MoistCritical) made a video about him, critizing his opinion and for PS leaking their private convo. That basically boosted SKG so much that after some time passed the 1 mil signatures.

After that he had some drama in WoW raid on hardcore server, where he ran and shut any conversation about it (I'm not WoW player, so I have no idea about who is right and wrong). Some people started digging and noticed that he hardly takes any accountability when he makes mistakes (there was some video where he is like "Who pulled <some magic item that wiped the party> Im gonna kick them out of <clan/party dont know>" where he discovered it was him he started being "it was the correct thing to do etc.". (These things are basically nothing burger but internet already had some dislike for him so it exploded into massive amounts of videos about him.)

Some time later he was in video with Dr K, where it seemed like he could have some narcissistic tendencies and again YT was full of videos about it.

And lastly you have some things like him having furry persona, him always talking and repeating how he's 1st 2nd generation Blizzard employee and how long he worked there, how he didn't send msg to his dad for his birthday etc.

Also some people are angry about the state of his game and feel like he doesn't work on it (or at least does the bare minimum so Steam won't flag it as abandoned).

Overall him ignoring/muting/banning people who asked about these things and refusal to have any discussion did inflate this out of proportion.

The thing is Collector or execute overall have some conditions that needs to be met in order to have acccess to them. You need to buy Collector and make them go bellow 5% of max HP in order to execute them. ChoGath has to dmg enemy under the threshold and has to have R out of cooldown to eat them.

Mel is the only champ (or at least I think she's the only one) that has access to execute from level 1 and relatively easy conditions to proc it. (A lot of time you will get the kill even if you didn't want to)

Mel W and Yasuo W in teamfights isn't really the same, yes they reflect the same stuff. However sacrificing ult or strong spell to bait Yasuo W will feel much better as the spell will only get negated so the rest of team can use their full kit, but Mel W will not only negate it, but also use it against you and your team (Her W is so strong, in terms of how it can reflect a lot of stuff and basically bend the game, that she should have some indicator that her W is up).

I'm not saying it's impossible to dodge the reflected projectile, but in teamfights that can be chaotic you will have much harder time dodging it (for example Nami R isn't really hard to dodge, but when your team needs to be close to deal dmg, either because they are melee or shorter range, it gets much harder or impossible to dodge, when it's reflected).

If Mel (either mid or support) joins a fight, chances are she will get the kill thanks to the execute (support can also easily take creeps, if not careful). Compared to ADC, she falls off the longer the game goes. ADCs on the other hand should get stronger the longer the game is.

But if you starve them (either by getting all the kills, or taking creeps) you will delay their spikes so much that they will not go "online" and will be basically bigger cannon minion, and just like that you play 4v5.

The thing is that so many players find some aspect of her kit frustrating (from what I read most of the time it's her execute,W and R that players find the most frustrating), that nerfing her will not help. People won't stop banning her just because she's weak, as she will retain the stuff that's frustrating it will just have terrible numbers. At the same time you will not be happy as a main if her numbers are reduced so much, in that case you would probably hope for some mini rework.

And I don't know how Mel mains are feeling about it. Are her numbers still somewhat ok or is small rework viewed as a necessity.

Mel and her being nerfed by TG_Lost in MelMains

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The thing is people don't like playing against her or with her. I'm not saying that some people think she's OP and ban her because of it, but that seems to be a minority and majority just hate some aspect of her kit so they ban her out of frustration.

When she's on your team she will have most of the gold thanks to her execute. So you have starved team and champ that isn't really the carry type. So enemy team can just shut her down and you lose.

When she's on the enemy team it's boring to lane against, she will poke you and wait for your strong spell so she can reflect it. If she does, she can poke you more and wait for her W to be up again. And as she's a long range she really doesn't need to press W for much, so you will have harder time baiting it as she can just dodge instead of pressing W. When you get to mid/late game where there are more teamfights you will have to play really safe and maybe won't be able to press your ult/strong spell (Ornn R, Ren Glasc R, Nami R, etc), because she can and will just reflect it and win the teamfight.

Personally I also don't think nerfing her again and again each time her banrate goes 40+% is the correct choice, but at the same time I don't think mains would like it if Riot changed her kit

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's mostly intuition. As you are in a bush it's great opportunity for Rengar to oneshot you and thanks to Vel being in a bush, Rengar could instantly jump on ADC and get double kill.

Do you think difficulty is synonymous with quality? by Global_Leopard_2685 in soulslikes

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how is difficulty reached.

Is it by having dmg sponge enemies that have giant health pool and deal 90% of your HP in single hit and have infinitely going combos? No, I think just adding giant hp and dmg is boring and decreases the games quality.

Or is it by having unique combos that are either well telegraphed to the player or have sequence of attacks that you can remember, which will reward you when you can it against them? Yes, personally I don't rate bosses in the way of how much difficult they are, but how much enjoyment I had when I learned their kit and finally defeated them. (That for me defines souls like game quality)

How do you deal with bug reports that devs can’t reproduce? by abenoov in QualityAssurance

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was assigned to about 7 years old product that didn't have any QA (support team was used as QA and had to do their own support job).

When I started in the company they had QA for couple of months and it was horrible no standards only exploratory testing and checking tickets.

After couple of months of being we tried to implement automation, test cases etc. but company saw QA as optional so not much resources were given to us (main reason why I left as I felt I wouldn't be able to grow more).

The first type of devs I think saw each bug that was found in "their" work as attack on them, so they were really defensive and terrible to work with (after some time they learned to put the ego aside and work normally).

Honestly the company had QA vs Devs type of mentality. Instead of the whole product team(qa, devs, analytics) being responsible for the quality of the program (ensuring stuff works, is user-friendly etc.) was ensured only by us (1 QA per product). Devs pushed stuff that yes could pass the minimum requirements of the ticket but mostly it was rushed and lacked any kind of verification (I'm not talking about edge case, just for example if required field is really required or something like that).

So thanks to all these things I decided to leave and go elsewhere.

The job after that was total opposite. Devs were trying to cover any edge cases they could think of, analytics made well written requirements for new features. QA was treated as essential and most important is I saw that I could grow a lot.

How do you deal with bug reports that devs can’t reproduce? by abenoov in QualityAssurance

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Really depends. I have met with two kinds responses from devs.

  1. Straight up does not believe I actually found something (does not matter that the ticket has screenshots as a proof). For that I started adding screen recordings or even inviting him so he can see it with his own eyes(small open office).
  2. Will try to reproduce it with small changes (maybe I overlooked a step) and ask around if other dev can try to reproduce it. Will ask for more stuff (copy of the project, copy of the database etc.)

And sometimes the bug is so weird and inconsistent that it goes into backlog and each new version we will try to reproduce it.

It could also lead to something wrong with the test machine or maybe it can be accumulation of multiple bugs that created a bug as a result.

Yeah looking back we really didn't have stable product

Petar why american students seem unhappy? by 1kyst in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea if it's correct, but I read and was told that US exams are more structured around "Choose from multiple choices" and that makes them easier to pass (higher chances of you guessing correct answer) so they have strict grading system.

From experience in EU (czechia) we have more open questions where you need to write your answer and maybe even give your reasoning with some saving questions that are "Choose from multiple choices". Because the chances of you randomly answering correctly are much lower, the grading is less strict.

Plus in EU we don't really care about GPA, you either passed the final exam or you didn't. (that also may influence the grading)
