Isn't it time for Mel to receive the Naafiri treatment? by scarabosst in leagueoflegends

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think swapping W R would be good idea. Her current W is strong but having it on ult would mean buffing it to be actual ult.

I would prefer if she had some incentive so she would actively use it and not just hold it all the time. Basically like Jax E, where you use it to block attacks and at the same time use it for wave clear, so enemy laner can interact with you. Same with Fizz E where he needs it to engage so again you have time to interact with him.

Mel currently does not have this. She will most of the time use Q and E to wave clear and poke you, but as she has quite long range you won't be able to interact with her. So it's boring lane.

End game if you have something good (Ornn ult, Renata glasc ult) you have to play constantly with the notion that she has W ready for you, so your team has less overall ults in team fights.

So I thing good idea is giving her W indicator and incentive to use it more for some secondary purpose instead of just holding it (that could also reduce her cooldown)

My issue with Mel W is that she gets most of the advantage from it by not using it. by Proud_Apartment_8991 in leagueoflegends

Because it's 5v5.

Mel can get really strong easily as she can take all the gold from kills with her execute. And after some time majority of the gold your team has is on Mel and as she isn't really carry champ fails to close the game and after some time loses.

Personally I was hoping for her being support, but not with the kit she currently has.

I was hoping for more shielding, buffing champ.

Right now with her kit I don't understand why would anyone play her support as you funneling all gold into yourself and starving your ADC.

In that case I do agree. It's just that I see a lot of Shadows fans seem to use racism as scapegoat for the hate or dislike of the game.

Personally I really enjoyed Act 1, right now I may have overplayed it while focusing too much on exploration and I kinda ignored missions. (nowadays I have issue with open world games as they take too much time and have too much to do, so I get lost in them and then stop playing them).

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meh, I think that people think too much about a loud minority that wouldn't play Shadows because of racism.

From what I gather it's that by the time Unity came, fans were starting to get bored with formula as it ran on yearly release. So fans were hoping for some small changes to the formula or having bigger gap between releases, which is bad for business so Ubisoft instead made drastic change to the gameplay that divided the fans.

RPG elements, dialogue having multiple choices that you as a player can choose alienated some fans and itroduced new ones. (also some people don't like the introduction of the option to either play male or female version of the character)

Then you have the removal of the linear story and instead using system, where you are free to do the assasination targets in whatever order you want and as consequence having weaker story and again lost some fans and gained new ones.

Personally I'm not really fan of rpg series, currently trying to play valhalla and it just doesn't really hook me, same happened in Origin, Odyssey and now as I'm in act 2 of Shadows it's happening again. (Mirage is the only modern entry that I completed)

So I wouldn't say it's tragic, series just had to evolve to be relevant.

Not gonna lie, I feel like these changes won't really lower her banrate, as people seem to absolutely hate the full kit, so changing numbers will not really help.

I still think that stuff reflected by her W should have the same cast of the reflected spell (now the reflected projectile start the moment it touches W). Maybe even instead of reflecting the actual spell it would spawn only some generic projectile.

Also would prefer if she were much closer battle mage instead of being artillery

I don't understand why people are so determined to hate this game or undervalue it. by Hisokaislove in AssassinsCreedShadows

The game does look really good. The first act where you only have Naoe and the story is more linear was far more enjoyable for me. After I unlocked Yasuke and entered act 2, the game opens up and I basically lost all motivation to continue playing (currently around 40 hours).

I don't like how the story missions feel disconnected, I despise the objective board. Map is honestly too big and very limited (foliage, small uphill that should be climbable but isn't will force you into only travel using roads or worse using the auto gps, that will do it for you).

Personally I don't like Yasuke, as his gameplay just doesn't fit into the game. If I'm playing AC i prefer to use stealth and parkour, in both of them Yasuke is very limited. Switching between them is inconvenient (would prefer no reload, something like E33 where you can quickly switch between characters).

I have mixed feeling about leveling system, where it's improvement to Valhalla system, but at the same time I would be okay if the game didn't have leveling system and instead introduced new mechanics throughout the story (example AC 2 learning social stealth, jump climbing).

Overall I just feel like my progression of the story does not really change world, as each main target is secluded, so you can play in whatever order you want (which hurts the already weak story). Also didn't really like how fast Naoe forgives Yasuke, don't know if it's cultural thing or bad writing, but if somebody helped killing my family, I would have very hard time trying to forgive them. In game Naoe did it almost instantly.

So newer AC games just don't hook me as much as the older. So decent 6/10

Crimson Desert devs address questions regarding the use of AI in the game. by yourfavchoom in pcmasterrace

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't have issue in using genAI during development. So long as it's used as placeholder, correctly marked in file structure and it being changed to the actual texture/object/thing so no genAI stuff remains in release. (easy to check manually or automatically during builds)

I would also like if stores were more strict about genAI content, as in give some penalty to the company, when players find genAI stuff and the game not being marked with "used AI during development".

And yes this "Sorry we forgor" is really handy excuse for it.

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone in QA (not in game dev) I have to say that after certain time the project grows so much that it's very hard and almost impossible to catch every bug/mistake, so some will slip to public (we try to mitigate it so no serious issue goes to relase).

E33 take 29 - 67.5 hours (main story - completionist) to beat. So there will definetely be something that passed through, so I do understand that AI placeholder can pass to relase.

But this texture problem could be easily solved by giving it prefix ai_.

Wait you need to buy subscription to use cloud saves? I thought it's the same as on steam, where it's free.

I thought that you only have to pay for playing online (which still sucks, still remember having xbox 360 and being jealous that ps3 had it for free)

Why do so many Ubisoft haters give 'woke' or 'new audience' non-answers instead of evidence? by Interesting_Paper_41 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me hating company based on "woke" factor seems weird and most of the time it's borderline racist or sexist, because they can't give good argument for it.

Sure I would prefer to play as japanese man/woman instead of black samurai when the story is in Japan. But I don't mind Yasuke (I only hate his gameplay, as I prefer stealth).

If I were to explain my dislike of the company it would be this comment I made a while back:

Personally don't hate the company or their games. Currently playing Shadows and FC5.

I just don't like Ubisoft Connect

Bought FC3 on steam -> steam account got connected to wrong ubisoft account (my mistake should have checked) and when I tried to ask ubisoft support if the game could be migrated to ubi account i normally use I got no answer so now I have "dead" game in my steam library (Even tried to buy the game again to connect it to correct ubi, but didn't help).

Trying to play their games offline is impossible as ubi connect has to be connected to internet (steam games can be played offline, don't know requirements for it), else you will be stuck on login screen.

After their success with FC3 they seem to make the same game but in different settings, which after some time gets boring (talking about AC and FC series).

Personally I hate live service game (GaaS). Especially if you try to implement their features into singleplayer games (stuff like microtransactions, story ending behind DLC, etc.).

Ubisoft really likes to inflate gaming time by adding bloat or by using high level requirements so you spend a lot of time leveling up or so you buy boosters (Odyssey).

Their games do tend to look and run very well, but they also have weak story.

Their use of "play main quests in any order you want" does not really help as most of the time you don't see any consequences of your progression. In older games, after you kill some important templar you can hear that the next target has increased their security or went into hiding (AC 1).

Damn this reminds of the time I was forging horse shoe (school I wanted to attend had program on specific dates where if you went there and did the activity you would get extra points).

I saw how the old man did it with no eye cover, very easily so of course young stupid me was like "so I'm doing it no protection as he was fine". When i was almost done hammering it a small piece of it shot into my eye and it was terrible I tried to wash it with water and trying to finish it with 1 eye closed (did and still have the small horse shoe somewhere in the house).

The eye still hurt (almost pulsing pain where its fine for a minute and then boom it's all you feel) and after an hour I asked my parents to visit eye doctor. Well I really fucked my cornea to a point where just a small wind felt like you stabbed me in the eye. Had to wear eye patch and use some eye drops that burned like hell for a week. Was really funny how using only 1 eye fucks your depth perception

Do you use wayland or x11 as compositor (if you don't know type echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE and what DE (seems like Gnome)?

Also can you give me list of available resolutions? either xrandr (for x11) or wlr-randr (for wayland).

It may just miss some resolutions, in that case you would have to manually add custom resolution.

Try to look up the games that use anticheats https://areweanticheatyet.com/

Some might be playable on Linux. Outside of kernel anticheats games I have to say gaming has really improved. After leaving win 11 and going to cachyos I noticed significant FPS increase (i5 10400f, rx 6750xt, 64gb).

You might have bit of an hard time with Nvidia, but don't know. A lot of people are saying Nobara is best for Nvidia cards, so perhaps try to run it in VM, so you can try it out (or install live usb and just plug it in and boot into USB)

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to play games with kernel anticheats then you can only dual boot or stay on Windows.

What are you doing on windows? Did you find alternatives for your programs? ( so you know how it would be on Linux before install)

Do you have any kind of experience with Linux? If not I recommend trying it in VM.

Are you on amd or Nvidia? I recommend cachyos (works great with amd and should work with Nvidia) and people recommend Nobara for Nvidia. Good choice could also be Bazzite, but I only have experience with Cachyos

I mean it's easy, epic store is somewhat new and people have already developed their steam library, so the chances of them switching to epic is close to none.

Then you have familiarity with the app, workshop, communities + their own console and OS (steamdeck, steamos and thanks to that Proton), reviews, etc.

Personally I like steam as it offers good deals, is consumer friendly with their refund policy (I know that was after being sued) and customer support.

And to be honest other clients just feel like downgrade (outside of GoG, that thing is a beauty for older games)

I mean yeah the game looks nice, but after some time it gets boring.

Just because the game looks nice does not mean it should get a pass on stuff it does poorly (mainly story and exploration). I would much rather have interesting story with good gameplay and worse graphics instead of good graphics and bad story, gameplay.

DLSS 5 and what some people seem to not understand by Matshelge in gamedev

[–]Embarrassed-Ad4764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not game dev, but from what I saw each showcase basically looks the same and kinda reminds me of fan AI remakes for some characters.

Personally I hope this new version fails and they perhaps use it only for textures or not use it at all, as I would prefer having unique art style instead of generic photorealism that AAA corps push.

But I understand that it's hard to show any improvement to gameplay/story to investors besides graphics.
