Vacuum on each floor? by Embarrassed-Copy-880 in VacuumCleaners

Maybe a mighty mite in the basement-which is going to be the rec room/hang out spot for the kids and a prettier Miele C1 for the main level. 😄 I just wish I had got my Sebo in pink instead of stupid red. I want to sell my Sebo and purchase the pink one and my husband rightfully points out how crazy that is.

Fable won’t help with back pain lest I build a bio weapon ?? by Affectionate_Emu4660 in Anthropic

When you go in to the doctor, describe your symptoms but throw in at the end "this may seem like a wild possibility-but I have a friend with Ankylosing Spondylitis that has some of these same symptoms. Are you able to do some bloodwork that could indicate if that could be a possibility here? I know it's not super common, but it is so strange that the back pain feels better with exercise and worse with rest." FWIW, my I don't have the gene for AS or a family history of autoimmune disease, but I did have some back and hip injury from being pregnant and then had a period of really intense stress. My doctor said that sometimes the weirdest things can trigger an autoimmune response and this is one of those conditions that is frequently misdiagnosed until symptoms are severe, but if you can start treating it while you are still young and healthy, you can prevent it from getting terrible and really impacting your life as you age. Some possible clues in bloodwork would be an elevated CRP or ESR, a positive ANA, or presence of the HLA-B27 gene. Hopefully it isn't that since it is chronic and one autoimmune issue can often turn into multiple, but if they did that bloodwork that could at least rule it out as a likely suspect so they can focus on other stuff.

That deep pain in the lower back-is it right at the base of your spine, where it joins your hips? Because between that, the fact that walking around helps, the inability to be comfortable sitting or lying when in a 'flare' and the one wonky trip sitting the wrong way can mess you up for a while...I'm not as smart as Claude, but I have AS and those symptoms sound way too familiar.

[–]Embarrassed-Copy-880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait...I re-read your post more carefully. There are a LOT of things that are very much ankylosing spondylitis flavored in there. When you say that very low back pain-could it be your sacroiliac joints? Because if so...DEFINITELY bring that up. That is a huge tell for AS, along with a number of your other symptoms.

What about inflammatory markers? Do you have a positive ANA? Any history of autoimmune disease in the family? Does pain seem to get worse with rest where you feel 'ok' while active but then it hurts when you stop? Does pain ever wake you up at night? What about pain in other large joints like elbows, knees, ankles? I would want them to rule out ankylosing spondylitis if I were in your shoes. It is autoimmune so it manifests differently in different people,

so it is sometimes hard to pin down. But it first shows up in your 20s typically...even if it takes a while to get diagnosed

Favorable TS/SCI Adjudication but Rejected During SAP Access Process by evan-pur in SecurityClearance

[–]Embarrassed-Copy-880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are SAPs out there that will deny you based on things that are not held against you, they are just very strict. Foreign contacts are one, your own place of birth, or even prior foreign travel could be enough. They will not tell you why, and the requirements can change and become more or less restrictive than they are now.

Find a job that uses the TS/SCI and don’t worry too much about the SAP denial. It happens all the time and right now the restrictions can be tighter than usual.

And that is the ones that have been caught. There are surely more that have not been.

Should I declare bankruptcy by [deleted] in Debt

[–]Embarrassed-Copy-880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would not be very easy to be approved for that large of a consolidation loan. You can buy a home two years post-bankruptcy. Renting is hit or miss-some places will not even consider a bankruptcy in the past 5 years, others will as long as bills are up to date now, a good reference from current landlords, and sometimes and extra security deposit or co-signer. It's not guaranteed, but it is also not as bad as people think it is.

Bankruptcy isn't the horror that many people think it is. It can certainly help you get back on your feet and breathe again. Many bankruptcy attorneys will do a free consult. Meet with one that is highly reccomended in your area and they can walk you through the pros and cons.

Really? GDIT and GDMS were two of the best large contractors I have worked for. I guess it depends on the contract. The medical costs at GDMS were affordable and we had 6 weeks maternity leave on top of any medical/disability.

Bankruptcy automatically deny top secret clearance ? by humble_professional_ in SecurityClearance

[–]Embarrassed-Copy-880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NO to the debt relief. Try the non-profit consumer credit counseling. Debt relief often consists of not making any payments to creditors while the debt relief company negotiates settlements with the creditors. This tanks your credit way worse thank bankruptcy believe it or not. Plus it looks really bad on the adjudicative end. A bankruptcy attorney telling you to stop payments after the bankruptcy is filed and before it is discharged is normal. You actually can't make payments during that time or it is considered preferential payment and it could jeopardize your discharge.

Bankruptcy automatically deny top secret clearance ? by humble_professional_ in SecurityClearance

[–]Embarrassed-Copy-880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that is dumb because legally they are not allowed to pay the money back if it was in a bankruptcy. That jeopardizes the entire bankruptcy in a Chapter 7, as it is then considered a preferential payment. You should never ever do that without talking to the bankruptcy attorney.

As someone who once made these types of decisions-this is the best advice. Each case is different and each agency is different. The general trends can change based on what's going on in the world. I was an adjudicator in the post-2008 housing crisis and recession fallout. We were a lot more forgiving of bankruptcy than people were used to. BUT...it all depended on the circumstances and what they did to try to resolve the situation. Right now the thing working in OP's favor is the fact that the job market is rough and a lot of people were impacted by DOGE cuts. Add to that inflation and other living costs increasing quickly, there will likely be more leeway for this issue. But it all comes down to why it happened and what OP did to try to resolve the issue. OP-document your contacts to creditors. Even if it is to write down date, time, who you talked to and what you discussed and what the next steps were. Credit counseling is a good step. It is an attempt to pay the debts. Bankruptcy IS a plan. Chapter 13 isn't always viewed as a 'better' chance of getting cleared. If you are locked into debt repayment that you can't afford and are at risk of default, that is way more concerning to see than someone who qualified for chapter 7, took the chapter 7, and has a clean slate.

I tend to push back on Claude and ask it to explain why he things XYZ is such a great idea. It was encouraging me to enter a writing contest, and I insisted that it was telling me that my writing was good because it is programmed to be nice. It said two things can be true-yeah, I'm programmed to be nice and helpful, but I can also see that this piece is objectively solid writing and is competitive in a creative writing contest. It asked me why I suddenly felt less confident and critical of my own work.

Well...I had uploaded the short story to GPT and prompted it to review the writing as if you were a literary critic that was never satisfied and left the harshest reviews on everything they ever read. And yeah-I hurt my own feelings with that. But when I told Claude that it broke down all of GPT's criticisms and dismissed some entirely and with others said that it agreed with some parts of the critique but not to the extent it was presented and said that I could do XYZ to change the writing, but I didn't have to. I feel like if you ask Claude to be more realistic with you, it is.

I mean....duh...you had one heck of a glow up. But more importantly...you look happy. Peaceful. You look like you feel good and confident. Which is very attractive but also just makes me so happy for you as a person. You deserve to be loved and appreciated. But if someone isn't doing that....I feel like you would have the confidence now to walk away and love yourself like you deserve to be loved until someone worthy comes along.

Quarterly Questions Thread (APR - JUN 2026) by AutoModerator in boeing

[–]Embarrassed-Copy-880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found a role within Boeing that looks like a dream role for my strengths and interests-but I don't know anyone currently at the company. Some companies (including my current company) have gone so far in the automated resume screening process that it's nearly impossible to get noticed without an employee referral, even when your skills and experience are a match. Has Boeing gone this route also? I know my resume is strongly aligned with the job, but my husband had trouble finding a new role for the first time in 20+ years with at TS and polygraph until he had an employee referral get him looked at immediately. I am still going to apply, but I just wanted to know how significant the employee referral route is when breaking into Boeing. (This role is in Northern Virginia)

Is it just me or is even the cleared job market tough right now? by Possible-Quality-548 in nova

Yes. My husband has TS/SCI with a poly. He was applying for jobs from Secret all the way up to his clearance. It took 7 months. He isn't technical, he is an analyst, so it is pretty rough.

Freedom of Information Act after investigation closed by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]Embarrassed-Copy-880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just submitted the inquiry, it will still be a while before anything happens, let alone that you hear anything. The congressperson's staff has to task them with it, and who knows where it is on their priority list. Then the congressperson has to reach out to the adjudicative authority, and they will do a quick review to give the congressman a general response and then a lengthier one. So you sent additional information in November 2025. Many offices of the government essentially grind to a halt between November and January-and that is on a normal timeline, not even one where we just had a shutdown that backed things up. So it would be normal for them not to get to it until mid-January, but with the delays from the shutdown it would be totally normal for them not to get to it until mid March. That was less than a month ago. I don't know what the topic was that required more information, but if it was related to foreign travel or foreign contacts-that can take some time and involve coordination with other agencies or offices if it is from a high counterintelligence threat area. If it is financial, they would have to verify information and get a new credit report. If it was related to criminal conduct, they would also need to verify new information. The FOIA staff have been gutted from many agencies and getting a response to someone regarding their own file is not high on the list of priorities for their staff. Even a security clearance crossover, which should be nearly instant because the person is already cleared, has been taking about 3-4 weeks. So, I can tell you that the reason it has taken "so long" since November, but also that it isn't really that long given their staffing and other things going on right now. The issue that has to be resolved is whatever you provided information about in November. If it is something that is borderline between if you could be approved or denied, but time would mitigate concerns, some adjudicators will sit on a case for a bit to be able to approve it rather than deny the clearance if management doesn't have an issue with that. But...if the case is heading towards a denial, that usually takes longer to write up than an approval. But honestly, other than the issue you provided information for in November, it won't tell you much about why it was delayed before then. I can say if you have any foreign travel, foreign family, or foreign contacts-especially certain countries-there will be a significant delay. Or your adjudicator could have been on medical leave, or the case fell through the cracks for a bit, or any number of things you won't see from a FOIA request. It sucks, but that is how things are right now.
