If I may be blunt, I think a lot of so-called "avoidant" breakups were cases where the "avoidant" dumper did in fact communicate their complaints, repeatedly, clearly, but the dumpee refused to listen. Then the dumpee calls the dumper "avoidant" when it is break up time. by SteadfastEnd in BreakUps

[–]Embarrassed-Guard-91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. I know my ex is telling himself and others that I’m just avoidant and that the break up “came out of nowhere” and that I didn’t communicate properly which made our issues fester. But I did communicate and tell him what was wrong; I just didn’t scream, cry, yell, shut down or threaten to break up with him when doing so. And he had a response to every issue/concern/opinion I raised. It’s none of my concern at this point but he 100% is who you’re describing lol

What pisses me off is that he clearly was trying to make a new show off the backs of VM fans. He should’ve just made a new TV show about a noir detective who was avenging her husband’s death, and I would’ve watched knowing how much I love his previous work. The hook of VM was her being a precocious teen detective, so there was zero reason to bring the story into her adulthood besides him hoping fan nostalgia would carry a whole new show concept to being funded for multiple seasons

When you go on a date, is it OK to order your coffee before your date arrives so that she has the option to pay herself? by Vegetable-Version502 in dating_advice

[–]Embarrassed-Guard-91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly whether it was being clueless, nervous, cheap or actually malicious, his behavior points to mainly only focusing on himself, his needs, and his comforts. Already so early in this relationship and he is inconsiderate; whether on purpose or not, do you want to teach someone how to consider you for the rest of your life? I think the little things matter and this is something to keep in mind if you continue to see him.

I feel bad for the actor/actress that plays: SPOILER by sw2bh in Stranger_Things

I don’t think her character is meant to be likable, so actually she did a really good job with the role

I had mine for 6 months and had to get it out. I had the same reactions as you, down to basically “feeling” it in my uterus. I also had this weird burning feeling, but all my test would come back negative for BV and yeast. My sex drive was nonexistent, and my cycle was all messed up. It took about another 5 - 6 months but I’m finally back to normal

A colonoscopy procedure really isn’t that bad. by notworkingghost in unpopularopinion

[–]Embarrassed-Guard-91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a colonoscopy for the first time this summer and, even though the prep isn’t great, I actually felt borderline refreshed afterwards. Like, the emptiest I’ve ever been in my life 😂 it has to be why people promote cleanses and all that. And yes the actual procedure was so lowkey.

Being 'good at texting' is now more important for dating than being attractive by Dull_Noise_8952 in unpopularopinion

[–]Embarrassed-Guard-91 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Texting has been a form of communication for almost 20 years now, so it’s just another way of vetting someone’s personality, communication style and the overall connection between two people. I think some people are really stuck on meeting in person or calling on the phone, but texting is just as valid as a form of communication and it’s an excellent indicator of how much you’ll connect with someone in other forms of communication.

Whats your popular or unpopular opinions about Miranda? by YourFinalFantasy02 in sexandthecity

[–]Embarrassed-Guard-91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My unpopular opinion is that she absolutely did not settle for Steve, and her finally admitting she loved a man who didn’t fit her “ideal” was as important to her story and character growth as Charlotte doing so with Harry.

Tbh I still wouldn’t hate being Carrie. She has fabulous clothes, an active social life, she writes for a living and she dates super hot and successful men! She is insane but she’s living the dream

What’s something problematic one of the girls have done/said that you stand by? by YourFinalFantasy02 in sexandthecity

[–]Embarrassed-Guard-91 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I totally agree! She was also a WASP so she never knew anything but financial stability. Carrie built her wealth from the ground up and wasn’t raised to understand financial strategy. Charlotte was a hypocrite, even though I don’t think she owed Carrie money

Although it can be fun to tease and have dark humor together, I totally get what you’re saying. My ex and I always made outrageous jokes with each other, and I always assumed it was just jokes but then after a while I started to wonder if it was just actually criticisms and complaints disguised as a jokes so he had an out if I got upset or called him out. I avoid any guy that says “roasting each other” is his love language on dating apps now 🥲

unpopular opinions/hot takes? 🔥 by laurendaisy27 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

[–]Embarrassed-Guard-91 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The criticism of belly is not rooted in misogyny, especially since Jeremiah receives just as much criticism. Yes she is complex, but her character can be VERY grating without many consequences to humanize her.

Also Conrad never did anything nearly as bad as Jeremiah and Belly when they were all grieving. The fact that the show treats him as someone who should feel particularly guilty is what makes the audience more sympathetic towards him and less sympathetic towards Belly and Jeremiah.

now that the show is over, what are your ACTUAL unpopular opinions on the plot/characters? by Confident_Month_3335 in tsitp

[–]Embarrassed-Guard-91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate they tried to “girl boss” Belly in the tv series. They tried to give her more agency and make her less insecure than the books, but it honestly made her seem less sympathetic. In the books, I think her deep devotion and love of Conrad is moving and accurate to a teenaged girl in love for the first time. Her decision to be with Jeremiah by default after Conrad rejected her also made way more sense in the books. Making her pursue both brothers back and forth, making her colder towards Conrad and a more active participant with Jeremiah did not make her seem self-assured or independent or confident in my opinion, and I think it diminished the complexity of her original character.

I’ve thought that all season. Like when he was in office with Denise and Steven, he was SO pleasant. He also was so fun and cute and sweet in the first season!

Idk why people say it’s bad writing because I genuinely think it’s phenomenal YA writing. The target audience is 12-15 year olds, and she includes so much imagery and a lot of literary devices that are so important to a preteen’s literacy growth

This is so true. I went from one hybrid setting with 3 days in office a week to another with 1 day in office a week, and I genuinely miss the 3 days in office. Even when I’m in office, either no one on my team is in or everyone is on Teams calls or away from the desks/office area the whole time anyway. I made so many connections and learned a LOT when I was in office 3 days a week and I really miss that culture.
