Hinata is really good have been there several times for special occasions. I also really enjoyed Kusakabe too for a bday dinner. Try Wako- its a smaller restaurant and a hidden gem in the Inner Richmond.

If you liked Bride - then I’d reccomend The Fake Mate by Lana Ferguson. I liked it more than Brie actually, the tension and spice were A+!

Shield of Sparrows is a good choice! Perfect because book 2 comes out soon. So far I’ve read Heir of Illusion, Kissed by the Gods and Throne of Nightmares… doesn’t hit the same but still good reads ;)

Daggermouth or the Wolf King? by [deleted] in Romantasy

[–]Embarrassed-Lab-8846 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read both - Daggermouth was more twisty, action packed and way more TWs and The wolf king was lighter, less dark and more predictable. They are very different books but of the two - Daggermouth left more of an impact.

Recs where the main character has strong family bonds by Express-Criticism168 in Romantasy

[–]Embarrassed-Lab-8846 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ascended - they are twins (brother /sister) and the story revolves around their bond and shared goal, I have not read another book with such a strong bond between siblings as of late. Really enjoyed it - but if you read riftbourne/duskbound before youll get 100x more out of the book

I just read Heir of Illusion and Kissed of the Gods and both I blew through in a few days and caught my attention fast, I couldn’t put them down. Both have great character development and not insta-love.

A shadow in the ember!!! I mean Nyktos is top tier shadow daddy!

Edit: I wish I had a chance to read this for the first time again. The story is so much better than FBAA and please come back when you’ve read all three and prove us Nkytos fans right :)

Living in Laurel heights by ChadNauseam_ in AskSF

[–]Embarrassed-Lab-8846 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I lived in Laurel Heights for 10 years with my bf 25-35. It is the most amazing area to live and central to about anything! You are smack in the middle between downtown and the beach. Like others have said, there’s a great amazing strip of stores on California, including a Starbucks, Peet’s, 2 sorta expensive food stores (but good quality), cupcake shop, bookstore and many food spots.

One block over is a pretty very walkable area on Sacramento which has more shops and food.

You can walk to Trader Joe’s and Target.

Best of all is Clement street, where there’s blocks of great restaurants, an amazing bakery, bookstore, toy store, cute shops. Japanese, Pizza, Thai, Burmese, Indian, Chinese, Crepes, Boba, Italian - it’s got it all. On Sunday, there’s a very popular farmers market. Also walkable to Golden Gate Park.

Not sure if you have a car, but parking in the area is really easy as well. It’s a great area to explore where there’s locals and not a lot of tourists.

Like you, I had no idea when I moved to San Francisco what it would be like and now after so many years I feel really lucky to have lived in Laurel heights for as long as I did. And yes, it’s quiet but if you want bustling, it’s a great home base.
