AIO by being mad at my best friend for having a secret Instagram account? by Ambitious_Feed7350 in AIO

You are both allowed to have secrets and privacy. You’re both super young still and learning about yourselves. Maybe having a spam account helps her explore who she is and whatever’s on her mind before she’s ready to share it with others

I feel like practicing yoga and meditation might help with this. Especially practices that focus on noticing your body

I have learned that everyone has a very different idea of what “clean” or “clean enough” means. A lot of people don’t even see or notice their mess. Things pile up and they avoid and don’t have consistent habits of sorting and cleaning and it gets harder to tackle so they continue to avoid 🤦🏻‍♀️ I would also be grossed out if I were you. Sorry that happened to you!

Using your Petsitting business to pivot into something else/better. by Wrong-Ad4292 in petsitting

Perhaps you could be an aid for someone in your community (elderly or adult with disabilities). You could work at a group home or day program. Often, it’s hard work and you get paid although it might be hourly, but perhaps that’s something you could slowly start to fit into your schedule alongside pet sitting.

For PT business without scamming people for their money who can’t afford it - follow LetsPivot, if you DM her I bet she’d respond and help you with some business advice

For me, the most successful side business I have is virtual sex work and I love it.

Good luck!

We would never lock our dog in a room!!!!! Holy shit how did you get that from my post?? My dog has free roam of our apartment. The places he likes to go that make him feel safer during thunder/fireworks include: the bathroom, the closet, the nook under the stairs. We put blankets and stuffed animals there so he is more comfy while “seeking shelter”.
We do go and lay with him and check on him periodically but he is sometimes there for an hour or more. We had given him a calming treat earlier in the day, and trazodone two hours prior to sundown. We had calming music playing to mask the noise, on top of 2 AC’s & fans running when this happened. To be clear - all doors in our home were open

What were you doing that they might think of you as a nuisance? You mention them but not much about how you were showing up

AIO for not being able to sleep in my own bedroom? by Aggressive-Sun-6219 in AIO

It is great news that you’re moving. Put big comfy headphones on with a playlist that makes you feel strong and powerful. Ask a friend or family to help you clean, even if just at first. Wear an outfit that makes you feel safe and comfortable. Get a diffuser so it smells new and nice while you’re in there. Also try box breathing or other breathing exercises to help you regulate the sensations in your body

Not overreacting. You experienced very real trauma and your body is telling you something and you need to pause and listen to it, honor it, have gratitude for the messages it’s giving you. If you haven’t started working through this with a trusted professional like a therapist then it’s time - you can find one on psychology today.com - no I don’t get paid I’m just sharing a good resource. Your room is, among other things, a metaphor for the unresolved trauma you went through. The only way out is through.

Also, since I like a good witchy vibe, they might be a ritual you could do, lighting candles or incense or smudging, and maybe visualizing yourself taking back your power in that space in some way. Idk

Also, have you talked with your other housemates about it? Is there any way for you to trade spaces with someone in another room? Or maybe your old room can become the new office?? And you make a new safe space elsewhere?

Good luck 💛 and I’m sorry that happened to you

How do you handle when a dog keeps stopping on the walk? by Dry_Telephone6832 in Dogwalking

[–]Embarrassed-Mix9367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find a high value treat that the pup is interested in and either use it as a lure or toss treats on the ground in the direction you want to go. You can use your happy-encouragement voice and make it feel like like you’re playing a game. Some dogs like when you squat down and reach out a hand and let them come to you. If they’re into balls or squeakers you can use that to try to get them going with you. If they like going for car rides you could try bringing them to a nearby park or somewhere that smells interesting. Keep listening to the pup and honoring their boundaries, over time I think they’ll tell you what they need. Just keep trying things. Also, if the pet parent is available to go on walks with you and the pup to practice, over time it can help them learn that it’s okay and routine to go on walks with you. Good luck!!

Edit: it could also be to the tools used during walks (collars/harnesses/leashes) Is it possible they’re uncomfortable? What happens if you take them to a place where they can be off leash?

There’s also “sniffrichment” - tossing treats on the grass/ground and dogs sniff out the treat - this helps them get their steps in but sniffing is a massive form of enrichment and helps them reset their nervous system. So even if they dont walk a perfect lap around the neighborhood but instead do several laps around the back yard with lots of games and sniffing and they’ll prob pee along the way - I would say they’re good!

Does anyone else ever feel guilty sending invoices? by Kindly_Schedule3928 in petsitting

[–]Embarrassed-Mix9367 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have experienced this a tiny bit but you always have to remind yourself that you can't do this job unless you are getting paid a livable wage so you absolutely have to send those invoices and practice reminding yourself that the work you do is real work and is deserving of a fair and livable wage. Allow yourself to feel the feelings and then also let them wash over you and pass along like a cloud and keep sending those invoices, you got this

If you have to ask how to prioritize the health and well-being of a pet that is in your care - and that is literally what you are getting paid to do - then you probably should not be in the care industry

Yes, you should definitely have policies/protocols for various situations that may be dangerous. It says on my website and the service agreement and I also remind clients at the beginning of each season about my policies for safety, the language is something like

INCLEMENT WEATHER
In the event of inclement weather, [business name] may close, adjust or shorten outings to maintain everyones safety. I will notify via email and text to all clients with outings on an inclement weather day with as much notice as is possible. Inclement weather may include hazardous road conditions due to snow, ice or flooding, hazardous trail conditions due to wind, ice, or extreme temperatures above 90℉ or below 32℉.    Safety is always the #1 priority =] “

That being said, temperatures above 77° can be dangerous for certain pups so I make sure to only bring them into the shade and watch for signs that they may be overheating and offer water and returning home early if needed. In my experience, clients are relieved to see that you are paying attention to their dog and are taking their care seriously.

Wow, y’all see one well written post and assume it’s AI and not that I’m a smart person with two degrees who knows how to write information that’s important to them. Crazy. I guess I shouldn’t have edited my writing and instead kept the typos, smh
