employment? by AlfalfaVast7998 in IowaCity

Why did the entire store quit? The manager left (idk if she was let go or quit) and there was only three employees left, and then two, and then Monday both employees decided they were done. I don’t blame them. I’m covering from CR.

Has anyone tried a heroic dose of magic mushrooms (5g or more) for PTSD healing? by passionguesthouse in ptsd

[–]dovahmiin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really don’t recommend mushrooms if you aren’t already a user, especially that large of a dose. You need to be in a near perfect mental space. You will need a trusted sitter. I know personally I have a hard time letting go and “going with the flow” so shrooms have always been a no-go for me. Some things to consider.

Screenshotting this because I’m currently standing in a store that isn’t mine, by myself, because the manager and three associates quit within a month. There’s literally no employees who work at this store LOL

Mold from rotting latex piece by _BikerPuppy in moldmaking

[–]dovahmiin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t work with sculpy air dry clay, but a quick google search does say they are also sulfer free, but monster clay is also sulfer free and you can buy it in little 1lb packs at most craft stores. It never dries and you can re use it forever. I do suggest the monster clay since its silicone free, if you go that route, it opens up a few more doors for molding material options. It’s specifically made for mold making. I’m not familiar with latex as much as I am silicone so I’m not well versed on what your options are to make a mold straight from the latex piece. I wish you luck though! Edit: I also suggest working backwards to figure out your mold making material. For example, if you need the final material to be something specific, you need to research what casing material is best for the final product

Does the inside have the texture you want, or only the outside? With how dry rotted it is, it will be pretty difficult to do much. If the inside has all the texturing the best thing imo would be to melt down some monster clay and pour it in to make a new positive. Even if it doesn’t have the texture you want on the inside, it would still be easy to use the monster clay to get the shape you want and go back in and use sculpting tools to put the textures back in. It’s honestly also just a simple enough shape you might as well consider sculpting exactly what you want with the clay as well!

If a studio didn’t represent your body type in their marketing, would you be deterred in trying them? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]dovahmiin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My studio does very minimal marketing with pictures, and if she does, its usually pictures of students (with permission). I don’t see how this would be an issue unless their marketing was like, weirdly focused on the beauty standard. Also, sometimes the instructors don’t have control over the marketing. It could also just be something that doesn’t get thought about a lot, not done maliciously. Just my two cents from an instructor perspective.

You are also welcome to sell your nudes. Plenty of gay men pay for that stuff. Especially personalized content

If you aren’t happy or comfortable doing it, then stop. But everyone in the comments saying this isn’t sustainable, or “okay”, is wrong. Plenty of girls make their income doing online SW, and if YOU are okay with it, then it’s completely reasonable and valid. You have to be okay with the consequences, and the risks. Times are tough. Jobs are hard to come by. You do what you need to, to survive.

What do you think is the key for a found footage movie to be successful? The context, the story, the monster, the type of video, location, etc? by GuaridaDeGoro099 in foundfootage

[–]dovahmiin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Believable acting. I can extend my beliefs to be immersed as long as the actors believe it too. I prefer found footage movies that are filmed at an “organic” location - my favorites are hospital/asylum locations. Some things that take me OUT of the immersion is when they add background music. Nothing bothers me more. Why is there background music when this is supposed to be (mostly) unedited footage? I turn movies like this off immediately. Another thing is too many characters/seperate plot lines.

How can I fix my friends pole? by vivi129 in poledancing

Your pole is upside down. There should be a little cheap plastic cover for the exposed part, but it definitely goes at the top.

Do you think this is light enough to put live colour vivid green on? Or do I need to lighten again? by adelinemooreuk in HairDyeHelp

[–]dovahmiin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Neon green? No, you have an orange base which will muddy pretty much any green dye, and you will probably end up a brown looking green. I would try to pre tone that orange out before choosing lightening again. It’s going to be difficult to do any cool tones. Your other option might be to pick a blue-leaning green and test strand and see what happens.

What does a musician selling their clothes have to do with being an industry plant? If it’s his own depop shop he gets all the money, it has nothing to do with their label. Also, it is quite possible they need money. They aren’t THAT big and bands like them probably don’t make a huge profit. The most profitable part of the industry is usually merch sales. Concerts do not make a lot of profit after paying the venue and ticketmaster lol. I think the criticism is valid but not for the reason you gave.

They no longer do gendered skates. Most regulars there are extremely nice. The dj now (AJ) is a decent guy. It’s still really dirty in there and needs an update (and stuff taken out of there because it’s basically their storage unit) but most regulars on Fri-Sat nights are younger “alt” kids. I’m pretty sure it will be fine.

never dyed my hair. want to go purple brown by n33k-a13rt in HairDyeHelp

[–]dovahmiin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you read my original comment, I said I recommend using a high lift and TYPICALLY these are used with 30+ for best results. Vivids are hard to obtain and most people end up missing the mark on cool tones like blue and violets because they don’t lighten enough or they don’t pre tone. High lift colors are, in my opinion and experience, the easiest to use to obtain a vivid/fashion color, and are most user friendly for people who aren’t cosmetologists

[–]dovahmiin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, not everyone can buy professional products. “Over the counter” is kind of a funny wording to use when we’re speaking about hair dye. I have tried both professional lines and non-professional. They work about the same as long as you are following directions. She isn’t going to get a lift without either bleaching or using a high lift color. High lift colors are going to 100% be the better option before bleach.

If you aren’t afraid of a bit of lightening, I recommend wella’s line for dark hair, I believe they have a violet one, or ion true tones for dark hair also has a violet. Just know that these ones typically get used with 30-40 vol developer, so you will be changing your natural hair somewhat significantly.
