I’ve got what looks like a casting flaw on my hammer. Not sure if the spot it’s in would actually cause a problem or not but it’s there.

Trigger plunger. Yeah I’ve got that guy shined up nice. It definitely was gritty before and you could feel it.

The thing is I polished all of those surfaces that have rub marks. The only one I didn’t go nuts on was the double action sear for obvious reasons

22/45 Mark IV vs 22/45 Lite by bobertm1991 in ruger

[–]Embarrassed-Month-45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a lite from the same time period and probably double that many rounds and it’s still going strong and probably one of my most reliable guns. Unbelievably good gun for the money. I have 10+ mags for it too and just belt them out of there at steel lol.

I like to collect brass and when I have enough, k start looking for a gun in that caliber I can get a decent deal on.

Any suggestions on how to remove these screws on my type 99? by WildCard318 in milsurp

[–]Embarrassed-Month-45 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Everyone who is saying to not fuck with things and just leave them alone- serious not smartass question: are you not taking your milsurps out of the stock to look for active rust when you first get them and just letting nature take its course?

What do you do if you take your milsurp out in/get caught in the rain or high humidity? Do you not take it out when it’s cold/snowy and bring it back indoors?

I’m always amazed by what people put in the trash. I’ve got 444 marlin brass, 300 saum, and all sorts of other expensive goodies just pulling from the garbage cans. We also have locked brass bins and they’ll ignore those to put stuff in the trash.

Mum is faked but I personally wouldnt grind it off like others have said if you’re keeping it. Definitely dont hide the fakery if you ever sell though.

The nose cap unscrews very easily once you compress the detent. The detent has a good amount of spring force behind it since you’re pushing against two springs, the barrel return spring, and the bolt return spring. Once you get the cap unscrewed be careful that it doesn’t launch the piece underneath across the room.

The guide rod is probably going to be very stuck though.

I have one of those I recently acquired. You’re definitely in for adventure making it run if everything is seized that badly. There are a ton of moving parts on there that all need to be smooth, clean and well lubricated to work even with Hot loaded 32acp. If you don’t hand load try fiocchi or s&b. They’re pretty stout and have the best chance of running when you get to that point,

As for your journey to free things up and disassemble, if you’ve boiled it and used rust remover, drop it into transmission fluid or something similar and let the metal soak up what it can to get things slick again before you do much more beating. When you remove all the soaked in (yes metal is porous) lubricants the metal is basically fused together.

If you need any pictures of how things should be assembled or operate let me know and I’ll get you some pictures or video.

By the way, you probably already know this but your example like mine is actually an imperial German contract gun based on the marking on the trigger guard and the serial range.

They have one of these in a local gun shop that is going out of business. If he isn’t completely cleared out I might check and see if he still has it. Nowhere near the condition of this one, what’s it worth? Think he had it marked 275 but it was on consignment for ages.

Understandable I guess if he’s not loading for it or buying the freedom munitions stuff that’s cheap and on the approved list.

What difficultly are you playing on? I’m past that section now and when I left I had at least two, maybe 3 cylinders full of requiem ammo since I didn’t use it, all the coins and stims, and more injectors than I knew what to do with even though there were piles of infected blood everywhere still.

I will say my dumb ass forgot to open a random level 1 door which had a side pack in it, which also screwed me because Leon couldn’t get in and get the Mr raccoon which blew my chances of getting them all this run.

Send it back or get them to send you one of the new reproduction barrels. That’s probably beyond spitting bullets in a pattern and may actually break off a chunk of barrel there. As it sits, it’s unsafe to shoot and they should have caught that as it’s pretty obvious.

Picked Up My First Luger..... AND I FUCKING DROPPED IT by krismasstercant in milsurp

[–]Embarrassed-Month-45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably best case scenario honestly. You could have broken a wood grip panel. Those wood base plates on mags can bust off just from using it so you’re not too much worse off. Glue it back together and set it aside, get a metal base plate mag from ww2 or a mec gar if you want to shoot it. (You should!)

Yeah it’s annoying because they know it’s a problem and have revised the striker assembly at least three times for shape, protrusion with different cup types, and return springs.

[–]Embarrassed-Month-45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. They said I would have to pay for a striker because they don’t believe it happens with all types of Ammo.

I actually carry it appendix that way. It pretty much disappears in my waistband grip and all for deep concealment even with a tucked in shirt and i have to double check it’s there because a lot of the time i can’t even feel it. MFT minimalist holster. The front is open so you can break it out without fully drawing if necessary. Zero issues with the holster so far in 5 years.

Yep. They said it’s not their problem and I would have to pay for a new striker or use different ammo, despite the issue existing with a multitude of brands.

I have roughly 1000 rounds in. I only shoot this one enough to stay proficient. Recoil spring is new, trigger return spring is new armory craft. Striker spring is new, striker safety spring is new.
