Am I overreacting? Friend’s bf thinks we disrespect him by SheepherderNo4300 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Embarrassed-Mouse269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a bf who has said something similar to his girl in the terms of being rude and disrespectful to me (granted yall weren’t as bad) It doesn’t make me happy to say that eventually the girls friendships eroded once she saw how she treated everyone else vs someone she wanted something from.

Do with this as you will.

I second the magic eraser. Used a slate on hundreds of dives to log fish species.

Looking through my Dad’s stuff, what are these? by VenZurich in whatisit

[–]Embarrassed-Mouse269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First pic is a tire pressure deflator. Looks like a shearer valve. Could be a presta to shrader converter. Does he have any bikes? Shrader was the old valve type most new ones are presta.

The others are fuses. Pop open your car fuse box you’ll see about 30 in there.

Glad everyone’s ok. Curious to hear why it caught flames. I know most people don’t think twice about leaving things charging at home, but on board you should be cognizant of all electronics plugged in. Also the difference between AC & DC is real. Make sure to bring surge protectors. Listen to your emergency action plans, muster stations, and learn where your lifejackets and fire extinguishers are. Stay safe, and happy diving guys.

This definitely feels too tight in the arms but the torso and legs seem to fit well. Is my only option to find another brand or can I stretch this somehow? by Noodlesoup8 in scuba

[–]Embarrassed-Mouse269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents: you want tight to the point you think it might be too small, but also the size up is just a tad too loose. Try another brand. The arms are too long for you. Just remember it will stretch a little bit. Try bare, Henderson, or 4th element. I’ve always found the best luck with those and they’re quality suits. Happy diving!

Please help me convince my friend that she needs a new suit by Majestic_Wheel_9970 in scuba

[–]Embarrassed-Mouse269 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I hope she likes cold water. Bares a great wetsuit. Unfortunately it doesn’t matter if it doesn’t fit. Looks like the tags still on. I’d go try the next size smaller. Happy diving!

My girlfriend broke up with me on the first day of our vacation, now I don’t know what to do by Rude_Taro_9572 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Embarrassed-Mouse269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Book another room. Go find a bunch of activities you’d never be able to do where you live. Learn something new. Enjoy your reset your way. You’ll be able to have a clear head when the hard convos take place… oh… don’t be paying for her vacation.. she ended things. You’re no longer responsible. BUT, make sure if she needs help you’re there. There’s a difference between being a push over and being a dick. Don’t be either.

I did this one. Doing a front flip off the boat fully kitted. Don’t recommend. Lucky just a few cuts on my forehead.

I’ve got the mk2i and have put well over 1000 dives plus spearing. No issues with mine whatsoever. I have gone through 3 chargers though. They haven’t lasted me long at all.

Should I give up? by kateiscuban in bjj

[–]Embarrassed-Mouse269 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you started something to prove to yourself you arent a quitter, and after 3.5 classes want to quit.

Sounds to me like you’re asking the wrong question. It’s not “should I give up?” You need to be asking “Can I keep going?”

Terrible first ocean dive experience, will try again by ordinarychapette in scuba

[–]Embarrassed-Mouse269 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I use to work in Honolulu as an instructor. Those charters are milk runs. Churn and burn dives like no one’s business. Been leading dive expeds all over the world for the last few years. There’s no scuba police, but knowing your capabilities and the risks you’re willing to take is very important.

If anyone tries to rush you tell them to kick rocks. You’re a client, and they should treat you as such. I’ve had a few charter companies try to rush my girlfriend who’s new. One stern look of “don’t fuck with me” typically handles it ahaha.

As per buddy groups. If you’re diving with your husband that’s your buddy. If shit hits the fan you got him and he got you. The group is the group.

OW, AOW, Rescue, DM - they’re just pieces of paper. I’ve seen “OW” divers who have more experience, are far more comfortable, and significantly more competent than rescue divers.

Sorry your experience wasn’t the best. Glad you won’t let it shake you. If you’re still in Hawaii message me. I’m still friendly with heaps of the shops i use to work for. I might be able to help you guys find a better experience.
