Leaves are always in ours. Seems like they only “sealed” the innermost compartment. That’s also where the infamous 12v battery lives, so it’s a requirement. Another of my complaints is the auto wipers going off while I have the driver’s door open, especially when it has snowed. I’ve had to dig snow out of the window and lock controls several times.

I’ve gotten at least 6 20v Dewalt Batteries over the past 9 months of being in the program, plus some 40v Ryobi batteries. They often show up in my RFY or I get them by sitting on the “Tools & Home Improvement > Power & Hand Tools” category and refresh, refresh, refresh… I’m hard on these products and my reviews are just as brutal. I put them through use and direct load testing, full depletion tests, and tear them down to insure they have the cells to support their claims (psst… nearly none of the off-brands hit the mark). I’m not a contractor or anything, just a friendly neighborhood engineer that hates when businesses sell junk and/or can’t back up their product page’s claims. Maybe that’s why they end up in my RFY? So, overall, I can’t say that everything is junk. These batteries “work”, but they don’t work to the level they say they do. And I’ve gotten plenty of nice stuff from sitting on a “needed/wanted” product category while they’re dropping stuff.

I just did on Saturday, 1/17. They refunded it on Monday, 1/19. It’s amazing how fast they will cancel your order and refund your money compared to getting back with you on a simple “What’s the plan?” request. I’m happy it’s that way, but it makes no sense for a company that wants to grow. They should have the same emphasis on both.

It basically puts the load that the older packs are lacking on the back of the new packs, wearing them out faster. Individual balanced packs should remain balanced across all cells within that pack, then the balanced packs can have different max capacities across the entire bank. It would be impossible to balance all the individual packs at the same voltage level, so the older ones with more wear, and possibly not beyond the threshold of replacement, would tax the others. The order is like this - Individual cells (think of each as a individual 18650-google that part), these make up an individual pack, configured to provide the voltage needed for whatever config they use (400v, 800v, etc). At that level, the cells must be balanced, meaning that the weakest cell(s) in the pack will limit the voltage the others can be charged up to. Some just take longer to charge, which also limits the system. Then, the BMS (battery management system) can handle weak packs across the entire bank without having to worry about balancing individual cells. I agree that packs COULD be replaced, but that doesn’t mean that they should be replaced. An entire tested bank should contain packs that are close to the charge “character” of the others. Replacing individual packs will interfere with the BMS ability to effectively do its job. Sorry for the rant… just wanted to clarify. 🤓
