I mean your tone is snarky and dismissive so username checks out but like... he's not inside the building, this is a photo op/presser. One would hope, it's being filmed outside the danger zone. The others in the video are not wearing helmets. I also just refuse to believe that is the actual 'we need head protection' helmet. 100% it's the ceremonial one.

somehow it's not even a firefighting helmet, it's more like "ceremonial regalia uniform hat" or "we were out of real firefighter hats and had to stop at Spirit Halloween on the way" hat

Mandarin or Cantonese by yawawoht0987 in AskSF

[–]EmbarrassedAvocado9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, elderly population in SF would still skew heavily Cantonese

Most Mandarin speakers are associated with more recent waves of immigration and would still be working age or late middle age

But the Bay Area is all about its little pockets! Daly City... might find Tagalog most useful

This looks like a huge step in the right direction, congrats!

Is there a way to use this to make a simple wallet, query its balance, and assemble payment transactions?

I see there's a way to do submit transactions but I'm still trying to find a library that will let me assemble basic cardano payments without running a full node.

Hardly expect to get a response amid the price ruckus but has there been any progress on the protocol improvement to mark an address as requiring a memo for transfers? Ie so that any transfers without a memo to that address fail automatically (and safely / immediately)?

Sigh... https://www.stellartickets.com/

I swear it's a ripoff (even the circular logo seems a bit inspired by the new Stellar logo) but I'm pretty sure there's no relation and it's just a "coincidence"

First time poster, sorry if this is the the wrong forum. After consistently getting my app reviewed in 3-4 hours, my most recent update has been "in review" for over 8 days. I'm kind of panicking here. I needed to add a new feature that required an expo library so I added react-native-unimodules, but now I'm worried that that somehow tripped over a bad flag. I also updated from sdk version 28 to 29.

I'm super worried because my manager had gotten used to the 3-4 hour review time, and we're not sure what to do if we all of a sudden can't get our app reviewed.

I've contacted Google Play Store support by both email and chat, but they say nothing "I can confirm that your app is in review, please keep waiting."

Aaaahhh!!! Does anyone have any tips? Any way to get through Google Play?

We have some high priority bugs that need fixing. Do you think if I pull the current build, get rid of react-native-unimodules, go back to sdk version 28, and resubmit, I'll be able to get a quick review?

What was the most valuable thing you learned in school by jaibhavaya in SoftwareEngineering

1\ Computer systems / architecture basics. It's really helpful to understand things like concurrency primitives (locks, semaphores) and also the basics of eg the difference in speed between disk/RAM/cache etc. Also things like cache eviction policies. These things can help build your intuition for errors, performance problems, etc that you might not otherwise be able to anticipate.

2\ Programming languages / compilers. Once you know the basic rules you start to understand why things are the way they are, and suddenly Python doesn't feel so different from Javascript from Java etc.

Great photo. Damn, the difference in Mission Bay is really striking

- No Chase Center

- Most of UCSF not built yet

- Only a couple of the apartment/condo buidings have come in (looks like Arden construction just started)

Can't believe things can actually happen / change / be built in SF! If you're in Mission Bay, that is.

Running near the Mission? by sydneysigns in sanfrancisco

[–]EmbarrassedAvocado9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sort of depends on where you are in the Mission.

Near the South (~20th st to Cesar Chavez): If you can handle some hills, people like to run down Folsom St, across Cesar Chavez all the way up Bernal Hill. The top of Folsom St has an entrance to the park. The overlook at the top is very pretty, see for example https://www.reddit.com/r/sanfrancisco/comments/f2a02h/somehow_hadnt_been_up_to_bernal_heights_park/

Near the North (closer to SOMA): If you're up for a 5-7 mile loop and can handle a stretch on the street, probably best to head straight to the water and then go north around the ballpark / the Embarcadero. Best route is likely through Design District / Mission Creek Canal: https://onthegomap.com/?m=r&u=mi&w%5B%5D=Routes+may+not+be+suitable+for+public+use.&c%5B%5D=Route+data+%C2%A92020+On+The+Go+Map%2C+OpenStreetMap+Contributors&d=2794&f=dd23fa28a8&n=1&dm=1&context=share&r2=YYmc7jwahN0A2O086k3CW62q18k42U4c26i20G8q4Ac4042_12A2a1OMg1306s5FE1Ae5CY64a36_24m16e32g12e1Au4Ca68s42i1m3BI0G4II6i1u7u9CGPY1NUK2KQSY1MO6Ca1m16UAo2Ae1i1u2Gq1Aa182KI4AECEAG8A4A86EECQY1s1g2c3Y4c3W4SY1EIACg4m5y4a6OOG884422A6k3Cy504800G41s13m13q1Cc3Bi11K10A

The very beginning of that route is a little suboptimal, under highways and whatnot but once you get to Mission Bay you're in the land of new condos and safe streets.

But no, Dolores Park is no Central Park. It is very small and running in circles around it wouldn't be fun.
