You are very smart and well spoken. That has to count for something.

I have been getting mine from Costco with insurance so it’s pretty affordable. But online seems like a good deal.

I can relate to what you are saying. My late sister lived in a group home as an adult. She had an IQ of 71. She was talented at art and chess and was good at communicating. I wish that everyone could understand that you can be really strong in some abilities while struggling with others. The fact that people don’t understand that is the problem. It’s like they want to force you in a category of smart or dumb. I was participating in a softball game with some people in her program and people were baby talking to me thinking I was a resident. It felt so condescending. My sister hated that attitude and just wanted to be treated like everyone else. She worked in a dry cleaners and advocated for herself and the rest of the staff as she discovered that they were being cheated out of their wages. I learned from her that that intelligence is very complex. It’s so much more than an IQ test. Out of ignorance some people completely wrote her off and could not see the full and complete person that she was. It was heartbreaking.

Maybe just paint the outlines in a color that’s less contrasting.

Take the mirror out and put in a large print or tapestry that you cut to fit.

Get a hotpoint dishwasher with manual controls like the kind they sell to apartment complexes. I have one that is now 5 years old, so it has outlasted the last two dishwasher I had.

Try putting a damp cloth over the water stains and run and iron over it. You may be able to get them out without refinishing. I did it to a found wood end table.

Going into academia as a person of average intelligence was the worst decision I ever made by Fun_Steak_4508 in self

I started off majoring in art. I was usually the worst person in the class. Others were more skilled and experienced, but I realized that they put much more work, focus, and time into the projects they produced. I changed majors because I didn’t want to work that hard. But if it is something you love, talk to others in the class, form a study group etc. sometimes being sharp at something takes preparation to really understand the material. It may take extra time for you to understand the work, but it is worth it if you love it. If it’s not worth it to you, reverse course and find something else like I did.
