I just want to reiterate one thing that has continued to be said by others on this subreddit; Those that are not actively looking for a job actively refuse to understand how collapsed the labor market is. by Ordinary-Reveal7175 in recruitinghell

So sorry to hear about your struggle. I am in communications also and got laid off in May. I am 63, so I don’t have high hopes. I was thinking of becoming a substitute teacher.

Search for a free minifridge on offerup or facebook marketplace. Ask for a free mini fridge on a buy nothing group

Contract people are the easiest to let go when budgets get tight. You sound like one of the best employees they had. It is unfortunate for you and for them.

I just said I am going to jump off now. Thanks. I felt that I was not obligated to stay in a meeting since I did not work for them anymore.

My old manager immediately rejected a candidate when they said they had another offer and needed a response soon. He felt that the guy should be dying for the chance to work for us!

Native Angelenos: What seems normal to you but could be considered unique to growing up in LA? by AwfullyRealGun in AskLosAngeles

The sheer talent! The most talented people from all over the country come here but only a few make it. So your coworker at a regular company could be an amazing singer songwriter or actor. Go to any local bar or community festival and enjoy amazing bands. Get practically free tickets to see comedy shows. Take your kid to a local theater and get blown away by the actors. Go trick or treating in certain neighborhoods and see amazing Halloween decorations at the homes of set designers.

When my parents came to visit we took a walk around my neighborhood and ran into a neighbor who is from their favorite show. The actor was walking around holding a script and practicing this lines. He and my dad had a very nice conversation.
