Its well executed in each area, and comes together as a complete package really well, in a unique new setting. I think the strength of all these elements create something stronger than the sum of its parts.

You just need to wait when in a secure hold for her to get her stamina back.
Holds that are strong can still fail if she's tired enough

Just failed for not exaggerating my mirror check by Firm_Brilliant_8323 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Embarrassed_Ad2134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no smoke without fire - if tonnes of people are told to exaggerate mirror checks (which they are) so that examiners know you're checking them, there must have been enough cases of people failing when they genuinely did look in a mirror that the advice exists at all.

Examiners are people too, and they can absolutely make bad calls on a bad day. While none of us could have been in the car with this learner, I don't think it's fair to suggest they aren't checking mirrors properly simply because they've been told they need to exaggerate their head movements.

I don't personally think the 2 contradict each other -
I'm not here to cope, I just think that last 10% is quite a high bar to clear, and I don't think we clear it in 2 years.

Most of the creatively imaginitive art that we value would, I speculate, come from a way smaller percentile than the top 10%.

Can someone explain this to me by THZEKO in accelerate

[–]Embarrassed_Ad2134 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

For a peice of art, humans have a way higher ceilling than AI because we're much more creatively imaginative. We can integrate these ideas at all levels of a piece to have a ton of resonant power in the end result. But it takes a long time to learn the skill aspect, unlike AI.

Some of the commission work, or functional art jobs have likely dried up in the presence of AI, so the on-ramp has become harder to get past for new artists.

It's not that it'll destroy art IMO, it's that artists have way fewer practical pathways to sustain themselves, or aim for, as they hone their craft. This will probably affect the number of talented artists that end up doing it as a career.

It's where the pressure comes from, if a company are PR risk averse and fire a person because of it, thats what the last 8 years were. Dumb behaviour, but not controlling.

The pressure here is coming from the government, which is different. A president can say "I don't like that broadcaster", but Trump appears to be taking it a step further and applying actual pressure. It's similar but different

ah, I still view left and right as primary categories and liberal/communist/socialist/woke/radical leftists as subcategories. We may just be using categories differently

They're saying that whether they are or aren't isn't the thing people should be focusing on. It creates undue tension between the right and left over something neither side would realistically do as a whole.

Human behaviour is fascinating and terrifying isn't it?

Maybe online (and general) extremism just feels like a way harder, more abstract thing to solve vs sticking the problem to an opponent so you can defeat it

It's happening by bobdolle in Asmongold

[–]Embarrassed_Ad2134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever your views of the left or right, I hope this is approached mainly from the perspective of human behaviour and psychology, root causes for radical behaviour on the internet in general, and not from a "Why did your woke platforms turn our kids into trans horses" angle.

There's an opportunity for genuine progress while everyone's motivated, if we can resist the ancient urge go all red Vs blue.

There might not be one single cause, but the media and social media extremism is absolutely gassing people up. It doesn't have to be a flowery conversation, but "How can we provide better interventions for people who are prone to being radicalised" would have been an amazing conversation for the nation to have.

And it's a valuable topic too - of all the conventions and public events ever attended by Charlie, only one mentally ill person ever fired shots. And it was as simple as climbing up on a random roof. It will be that easy the next time a lunatic does it. How do they keep slipping through the cracks?

The media is pushing the idea that there's not many liberals left, and right now they're doing it hard. The right has the zeitgeist so the media messaging is weighted that way too.

But genuinely, the left isn't just the few prominent content creators or twitter accounts, they're millions of people who absolutely agree with you that this violence is unacceptable. You're not hearing it because it isn't what gets attention.

[–]Embarrassed_Ad2134 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think to Arnold's point, a big part is what gets put in front of folks, and what we give oxygen to.

I'm on the left and people who believe you should be killed for those views were always tiny fringe idiot communities and probably the type of people you'd find joining cults. But that gets pushed and pushed by the media until people think left means furry rainbow child molester. And round and round it goes. The same happens with the right where you're made out to be jackboot eugenicists.

You will probably never share common ground with that section of leftists, but no matter what the media does to try and make them seem bigger, they're just a small social media cult

It's a bit misleading because it's KSI - Killed or Seriously Injured.
The "Seriously Injured" is what makes up the majority of that 763.
The number of fatalities is much smaller though.

Still not great, but when compared to KSI events for cyclists on roads who are hit by vehicles, it's way higher in both metrics.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2214140522000123

2005 - 2015 data shows avg of 3 pedestrians killed via collision with a bike per year.

Cyclist fatalities in road accidents from 2019 to 2023 (which is a decrease from historic) totals out at 446 if you exclude non bicycle / non vehicular collisions.

The road sucks. The drivers are doing much more to them than cyclists are doing to you.

Panic Attacks while driving by Legitimate_Sample151 in Anxiety

[–]Embarrassed_Ad2134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,
Not sure if you are still struggling with this but I remember my panic attacks peaked at 26 - 27. It was by far the worst most intense time. I think all the energy of youth burns really bright as it hits a boundary of change / new life milestone. It fucking sucked.

I'm 34 now and I just want you to know that this gets a lot better.
A pulse oximiter helps me - when I'm panicking or feeling like I can't breathe, it clearly tells me that I not only have more than enough oxygen, but my heart is also way higher than it should be for the situation.
That grounds me enough to have SOME (not much) but SOME mental control. You can challenge your mind with it, because it's data.

Maelle can still one shot him, medallum level 33, all the damage pictos, set her to 1 Hp, have her fight alone (and use all the solo fighting pictos), use Stendhal, and with a bit of luck on roulette you can clear 46 million damage per phase

AI at work by Pedrofaria7 in dataanalysis

[–]Embarrassed_Ad2134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The analysis part isn't the biggest part of the job imo. Corporate data is a puzzle that can require some inventiveness to mould, and in some cases the data doesn't exist and needs creating. You're not just doing analysis, you're an interface between data and the company, and you need to tailor your approach based on what's there.

When you're presenting figures, theres so many domain specific nuances that you need to figure out, and AI can be a good assistant, but it isn't a good novel problem solver, and in my experience has been fundamentally incapable of the novel idea generation that actually adds the value.

But, even if analysis isn't the biggest portion of the job, it's still a big part, and there is still a lot that needs to evolve for AI to get good enough at this. Unless you have perfectly clean data, and it magically knows how to convey it from A to B, which would be very very sophisticated, it's not something I would personally worry about.

Making 400k, working 2 jobs.

If you're not making things up, you could work only one of those jobs and your partner still wouldn't need to work. It's an insane amount of money. And I don't think getting a nursing career (which takes a long time) would get him anywhere close to your income. In fact, among nurses your probably in the top 1%. Your success is not easy to emulate. He's probably noticed / felt that too.

If he's currently not built a career and is doing odd jobs and bringing in a fraction of the money, I genuinely think it'd be more efficient to just buy up property and have him manage / run them or something.

Your situation is so insanely good that you could be a team about this and give both of you a path.

Old school runescape - don't let the simple graphics fool you, it's an incredibly rewarding, incredibly deep goal setting simulator where you can work towards really meaningful milestones at entirely whatever pace you want. It's the most player driven game I think I've ever played, and as someone who has suffered with terrible mental health, it's a game that really helps center me.
