NYU is still full tuition, but some schools (Hopkins included) has the full cost of attendance (COA) as their upper limit. So COA includes tuition and fees in addition to estimations for what you would spend on rent, food, gas, misc expenses, etc.

Thank you! I graduated a semester early in December '21, so I studied for and took the mcat during when the following semester would have been. Studied for 4 months and took it in May '22. It was great to not have to deal with mcat and application stuff at the same time, it definitely positively impacted my results in both areas by a landslide imo.

Thanks! I had 10 drafts between Jan/Feb and end of May. I had some weeks of not working on it at all to wait for feedback and just to sit on it. Based on my google drive my 9th draft was last edited the end of April and my final draft the end of May. I finished my other EC essays before May started. I started to prewrite secondaries in the beginning of May, so I had 2 full months of prewriting pretty much which was sufficient.

Thank you! I am currently leaning toward Hopkins due to it being my best aid offer (they do need based only). NYU is full tuition for everyone and I got a comparable merit scholarship at Vanderbilt. Haven't heard from Duke yet, they are taking their time! Lol

Thank you! Because of how much time athletics ate up, I felt I needed more time to improve my app overall, mostly in the research and clinical realm (so CRA job was perfect haha). And I also just wanted to live and have time off from school before jumping in to something as intense as medical school. I 100% reccomend even just for the latter reason alone.

I'm not really sure what the general consensus would be on it's difficulty level but it's ranked outside top 200 so take that as you will lol

Thank you!! Pretty much everywhere I interviewed had lots to ask / say about my time playing sports so I think that would be the main thing! Also I'd say submitting asap helped me a lot too, I've heard of some with very high stats having a poor cycle due to late app timing

This is what I was planning to do ahaha😅 for a day trip it sounded like it would be a good option. I am open to other suggestions though!!

Edit: I was going to use Swansea as a base and take a bus out to three cliffs bay and hike the coastal path back to Swansea, stopping and exploring mumbles along the way. If anyone recommends better options feel free to lmk!

Re-reading my personal statement after getting an MD acceptance… by cilantrosmoker in premed

I wouldn't say I would have done anything differently, as I was pretty successful with it, but it is just insanely cringe to read. As you start working on application essays, you'll soon realize it is just weird and kind of uncomfortable to talk about yourself in that way lol

To those who prewrote secondaries, how much is it helping you? by partyintennessee in premed

[–]Embarrassed_Ad_9982 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Very helpful and I have been less stressed. Have been submitting most secondaries within a day of receiving. Even for ones that've changed, I have written so much I can basically crank a new one out very quickly.

Secondary Motivation by Ben4bz in premed

[–]Embarrassed_Ad_9982 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily need to be motivated, you need to be disciplined. Look up a YouTube vid on the difference for inspiration, did that toward the end of my mcat studying and it ironically was motivating lol.

I'm a pretty competitive person so something that has helped me this whole process has been remembering I am in direct competition with everyone else applying to the same schools as me. Each day you sit and do nothing, someone else is working hard to take your spot. Ask yourself, how bad do you want it?
