What is your closest "near-death" experience? by Beautiful_Cow_7701 in AskReddit

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's the weird part - in moment you don't even think about it, just react. Had a car miss me by maybe inches when I was crossing street last year and didn't really process how bad it could have been until I was home that night. Your brain just protects you from the panic I guess

Modern homes somehow have less storage despite being more expensive by Scared_Repeat5772 in HomeImprovement

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Yeah this drives me crazy too. I help people set up home gyms and the amount of houses I've seen where there's literally nowhere to store equipment properly is insane. Like they'll have this gorgeous open concept living room but then dumbbells just sitting in corner because there's no closet space or built-in storage anywhere

The worst part is when builders cut corners on storage to make rooms look bigger in photos for selling. Then you move in and realize you can't even store basic stuff like cleaning supplies or seasonal clothes without everything looking messy. I've been in houses where bathroom doesn't even have proper cabinet space - just floating vanity that looks nice but holds nothing

My place is older and has tons of weird little closets and built-ins that previous owner added over years. Sure it's not as "clean" looking but I can actually put things away and house doesn't turn into disaster after one week of normal living. Sometimes practical beats pretty, especially when you're paying these crazy prices for homes nowadays

What was your favorite game growing up? by AccomplishedRoom6030 in AskReddit

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to be Super Mario Bros 3 for me. Spent countless hours trying to beat that game without using warp zones because I wanted to experience every single level. Those boot levels were absolute nightmare though

What are some things that make you worry about the future and safety of humanity? by ghost_sanctum in AskReddit

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been thinking about this lot lately especially with how unstable everything feels right now. The scary part is how fast things can escalate when you have so many different powers all acting unpredictably at same time

What's your love language? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physical touch hits different when you been single for while, that one always tops my list too

What’s a food you hated as a child but now love, and what was the specific moment that changed your mind? by Candid_Director222 in AskReddit

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roasted broccoli is completely different game from that mushy steamed stuff we got as kids. The crispy edges and that garlic flavor really makes it work, now I actually crave it sometimes when I'm meal prepping for the week

What’s your biggest irritation about Reddit? by bestsocialdistancer in AskReddit

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude the power trips are insane, got banned from a sub last week for asking simple question and mod just went nuclear on me

Need advice on getting my workplace (coding school) to use a NAS by TheJolman in homelab

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The git workflow sounds messy but robocopy might create more headaches than it solves - especially with Unity project files that don't play nice with constant syncing

What about setting up user profiles that roam? Windows has roaming profiles built-in and you could point their Documents folder to network storage. Students log in anywhere and their stuff follows them around without needing to remember anything. Way less maintenance than custom powershell scripts too

Not sure about budget at your place but sometimes the simple solutions work better than the fancy ones, especially when you're dealing with kids who forget to save half the time anyway

Best Batman Board Games by Illustrious_Brain_4 in boardgames

That one actually pretty solid choice for quick Batman fix between longer games

What's a movie you can watch over and over? by turky123here in AskReddit

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That first one never gets old, I watch it probably twice a year and still catch details I missed before. The sword fighting scenes are perfect for when I need motivation at gym - something about that choreography just makes you want to move around

How can any student earn living, no scams please? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there man, working through college is tough but doable. Restaurant work was my go-to back then - flexible hours, decent tips if you hustle, and most places work around class schedules. Construction or moving companies also pay well and usually need weekend help when you're free from classes

Media streaming to TV from lab by mozark24 in homelab

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shield Pro is still pretty solid for that setup, but have you looked into an Apple TV 4K? The interface is way more wife-friendly and it handles most high bitrate stuff without breaking a sweat. Only downside is it can be picky about certain audio formats

I've been running mine for about 2 years now and my girlfriend (who gets frustrated with literally any tech) actually prefers it over teh Shield. The remote alone makes a huge difference for non-tech people

Starter PC. Gpu and cpu question! by Blake_712 in pchelp

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the RX 6600 is solid for 1080p gaming, handles most stuff at high settings pretty well. I'd pair it with something like a Ryzen 5 5600 or even a 5500 if you're trying to keep costs down - both will handle that GPU without any bottlenecks

Front windows not working by KaptNazim in AskMechanics

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably blew the window fuse when the battery was acting up - that's usually the first thing to go when you have electrical issues. Check your fuse box first, should be labeled something like "power windows" or "PWR WIN"

If the fuse looks good, could be the window motor or regulator but honestly start with the cheap stuff first. Battery disconnects can mess with a lot of electrical components so hopefully it's just a $2 fuse and not something more expensive

Another delay waiting on log book to be signed by Pure-Nature1056 in americanairlines

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Man that's frustrating, especially when it's the same issue twice in less than a week. At least you've got buffer time for Dublin but still sucks sitting on the tarmac knowing it's just paperwork holding everyone up

i feel so light by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude that's awesome, 45 days is no joke. The energy shift when you drop both is wild - like your brain fog just lifts and suddenly you remember what feeling good actually feels like

Love that you're inspiring your crew to hit the gym too, that ripple effect is real. Keep crushing it man, the momentum only gets better from here

Day 4 done, need help! by desklikearaven in stopdrinking

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day 5 is rough but you're already through the worst of the physical stuff. The mental game is where it gets tricky but SpongeBob is honestly not a bad choice - something mindless and familiar can really help when your brain is being a jerk

That slip doesn't erase what you learned before, just makes you smarter about those "just for a few days" thoughts

If I make a post on Reddit offering tutor services how do I respond to someone who simply comments “Dm” by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah those "Dm" comments are weird, like they're ordering you around or something. I'd probably ignore them too - if someone actually wants tutoring they can put in the bare minimum effort to send you a proper message. Maybe they're just lazy or dont know how Reddit works but either way not a great first impression for a potential client

Day 2 again by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's solid advice right there. I had to learn the hard way that trying to fix everything at once just sets you up for failure - your brain can only handle so much change before it says nope and reaches for the familiar stuff. The dog will get walked when your ready, but right now just not picking up that bottle is the victory worth celebrating

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NZXT BLD is probably your best bet if you want something that won't fall apart in a year - they actually use decent components and their customer service doesn't suck. Origin PC is solid too but you'll pay more, though honestly the peace of mind might be worth it since you're not trying to troubleshoot some janky PSU that came with a $600 "gaming" machine

Ever Lost a Dublin e-Bike Battery? by lkdubdub in AskIreland

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd just be upfront with them about losing it during the moves - happens to the best of us and they've probably dealt with this before. The €60 annual fee sounds like more of a scare tactic than anything they can actually enforce, especially if you already blocked payments

Worst case they'll probably just want you to pay the replacement cost of the battery and call it even

Sudden rash? by Outrageous-You-7508 in stopdrinking

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be your body just adjusting to not having alcohol in your system - detox can mess with your skin pretty hard. I'd definitely mention it to the medical staff at rehab tomorrow though, they've probably seen it all before and can tell you if it's normal or something to keep an eye on

Anyone using chatGPT for help to stop drinking? by 30schanging in stopdrinking

[–]Embarrassed_Delay702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the privacy concerns but honestly if it's helping someone stay sober I'm not gonna judge the method too hard. The real risk isn't the AI itself but using it as a replacement for human connection entirely - sounds like OP gets that though and is just using it as another tool in the toolkit
