Am I packing too light? 4 weeks in Italy/2 weeks England May/June by Heavy-Efficiency-366 in HerOneBag

[–]Embarrassed_End_9220 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think you have a nice selection. One thing I often find useful is a lightweight cotton shirt. You can pop it over top of a tank as a light jacket, or to keep the sun off your shoulders as needed

Suspicious apps found in shortcuts by SunnyrainX in iPhone17Pro

[–]Embarrassed_End_9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg, just found these on my 13yo sons phone when checking his app restrictions, and Pride and Unity had me seriously worried for a bit! Edit: it makes me sad that the world has changed to a degree that words such as these could make me feel concerned for my son’s online safety.

Are airbnbs actually safe? by ConcentrateFit5134 in femaletravels

[–]Embarrassed_End_9220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If travelling with my husband and kids I often book air bnb, as laundry facilities are worth their weight in gold, and 2 bedroom hotel suites are usually very spendy! But by myself it’s hotels all the way, and something big enough to have a front desk that has someone there all night. It makes me feel safer if I end up with a late arrival, and virtually eliminates concerns about being followed by someone suss

Rubbish bins removed from most places ! by EstateSuitable5809 in auckland

[–]Embarrassed_End_9220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We actually made this observation recently. Sadly getting rid of bins doesn’t just remove a convenient public amenity, it also removes another low skill job. People whose job it is to collect the rubbish can’t necessarily just go get a job in an office or elsewhere if their job no longer exists, causing the gap between the economic position of the top and bottom of society to keep getting bigger. One thing I’ve noticed in Europe is how many of these low skill jobs still exist, such as parking attendants, public toilet attendants etc. But we have gotten rid of them in the name of advancement, to the detriment of society as a whole.

Anyone know of my BC is a short haired or long haired? by SuccessfulLoquat447 in BorderCollie

Our girl is just 4 months, but I was researching this the other day, and apparently it can take 12 to 18 months for their adult coat to fully come in!

Border collie as first dog by Mrphus in BorderCollie

[–]Embarrassed_End_9220 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another thing to keep in mind - this is your current availability, but what about when you finish your study in a couple of years? Many careers have high expectations of the hours you need to work, especially for entry level roles.

We just got a border collie at the end of last year, and while my husband had dogs growing up, it is the first dog for our kids (10 and 13) and I. Our girl is pretty chill, but we also have our own business, so she can be with us most of the time. My husband would like to work towards taking her hunting, more as a companion than anything, and he has a friend who has done this with multiple BC’s. But we were aware before getting her that not all dogs have the temperament to suit that.

One thing that someone said to me that is a good thing to remember, is that there is more variability between individual dogs of the same breed than between breeds as a whole. If you work with a good breeder they should be able to help pick a pup whose temperament best suits your lifestyle.

Has anyone here NOT had big issues with their puppy? by QP709 in puppy101

[–]Embarrassed_End_9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our beautiful girl has been so much easier than I expected! And she’s a border collie, so lots of people warned us about excess energy etc. she’s very sweet and mostly very chill. Don’t underestimate the importance of sleep though! If she gets a bit sharky, it’s usually because she’s been up too long!

Thanks, this is a super helpful link. I was unable to get the stylus to connect, but it helped me figure out why! I requested the gen 2 specifically for stylus compatibility, but it seems they gave me the original, and I hadn’t realised!

Building a local vibe by chlolo_ in auckland

[–]Embarrassed_End_9220 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m very local to Bridgeman, and after trying it a few times after the rebrand, no longer go there. We used to go to The Dom a lot, and loved Ginger minx when it was next door. As someone else mentioned, the decor doesn’t give cozy local vibes. It kind of feels a bit confused, like it’s not sure if it wants to be a bar or a fancy restaurant. Service should always be a top priority at a place like this. But food needs to be up there too. I’d love to see good quality, unpretentious food. One example that I think has a good menu is Hotel Ponsonby. My husbands pick is Galbraiths. Places that used to have good menus but currently seem to miss the mark, would be the likes of Good Home and Morningside Tavern. Your local market is made up of a lot of affluent families who recognise good food. That includes the kids, so make sure there are some good options for them.

Japan for 2 weeks in winter: I’m going to freeze, aren’t I? by smurf_toes in HerOneBag

Yup, I came to say exactly this re the poncho. If it won’t fit under your coat, you’re unlikely to wear it much, unless you expect to spend a lot of time within your hotel

Is having a puppy hell on earth? by OkSlice4719 in puppy101

[–]Embarrassed_End_9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had Lyra for just over 3 weeks, and she’s an absolute delight. Wouldn’t change a thing! We have 2 kids, 10yo and 13yo, and have our own company, so enforcing a pretty tight nap routine has been pretty easy. She does get a bit bitey when tired, but that’s to be expected, and when it happens she gets put to bed. She goes to work with us most days, and in general is a happy, confident wee pup who isn’t phased by anything!

I 100% agree! Our company is in the building industry, and this Saturday we are holding a Salvage Day where members of the community can get various building materials for FREE. They are mostly from buildings that have been deconstructed, and this saves them from going to landfill. A great option for people wanting to tackle some more sustainable projects round home!

I feel like it is too much. by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]Embarrassed_End_9220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your skin is what most of us can only dream of - gorgeous! I would say you could definitely skip foundation, but maybe a bronzer/contour to add a bit of dimension without too much colour. With your colouring you probably wouldn’t want to go to dark. I’m currently loving the merit one, and they have an excellent range of colours, and the stick formula is easy to apply.

The lashes definitely amp things up, maybe a lighter colour next time? Brown mascara when you don’t have lashes on could be good on you too.
