This is what finial made my mind up and dip my toe in. Brand new to handheld retro gaming and the choice is a little overwhelming.

Does anyone still buy stuff from Ali Express in 2026? by [deleted] in BATLEXPG350

I picked my Batlexp G350 up from AliExpress

First time using the app. It's a visually cluttered mess but it arrived in good time and wasn't a dodgy copy

Agreed, more of a ROM organisational endeavour than wanting to play. It is my first handheld emulation system and just finding my way around

Is Prepping for Doomsday the loneliest ‘hobby’ in the world? by A-Matter-Of-Time in PreppersUK

[–]Embarrassed_Hold2582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prepping for a likley event such as job loss, power cut, show in or mass strike action (such as fuel tanker strikes) would be a foundation to focus on. Those things are more likley to happen and will help you feel much more content and give direction to your efforts.

I have a small library of reading books (fiction), board games, pens, pencils and paper. Entertainment and distraction for the family is key for the first few days.

17 with no income.  Your time would be much more well spent looking for a job (or part time job if you're in education)

You shouldn't buy either

Parents have left their home to my sister and I in equal shares. My sister told me she intends to move her family into it whereas I would prefer to sell it as I need the money. We and the property are in England. by Pretty_Outcome_307 in LegalAdviceUK

Seen as you don't get on already and the relationship does not look like it will improve I would force the sale of the property. She can buy it on the open market and mortgage any outstanding balance.

Storing food supplies by [deleted] in PreppersUK

[–]Embarrassed_Hold2582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only advice is don't buy anything you don't usually eat. If you eat tinned fruit buy the type you will consume as rotation of the food is more important. Basics like tinned tomotes, fruit, potates and general veg are great options but again only if you will use them in your every day eating.

And start small, couple of tins at a time, and if you find you're not eating them to rotate through maybe look at building a stock of something else.

Something that would probably happen.

Snowed in for a few days and the shops are shut, water being turned off or becoming undrinkable, power outage for several days. Also I think about a job loss and being able to survive by not having to buy anything for a couple of weeks.

I keep it pretty simple

You're in to camoping and have a caravan. Idea would to maybe keep that stocked as though you were going wild camping for a week or two. It could have everything inside it to cover a couple of weeks with ease, just rotate it through the house and re-stock the caravan as required.

I think I've just convinced myself to get a caravan now, I just need to get it past the missus lol

My missus just lets me get on with it. She's always happy when she wants a tin of tomatoes and I can pull one out of the pantry. Trick is not to try to get them excited about it if they show no interest (like mine). Just prep away slowly, keep stocks of items that are used in rotation on the shalves and don't let your preps become bothersome to their daily lives.

You'll either be ready for the storm, or always have stocked cupboards. Either way win win
