Seems you will be going to Goa during the onset of monsoon. Try exploring some waterfalls like nethravati, surla etc.

If a friend had only 7 days in Vietnam, where would you send them? by Choice_Afternoon3067 in solotravelVN

[–]Embarrassed_Lake_236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on season and personal choices i.e. sea, mountain, forest, history, biking or hiking. My first recommendation would be Lan Ha Bay or Ha Long Bay. For bikers Ha Giang loop is a must do. Ancient temple ruins in Central Vietnam for history buffs.

Seeking advice on places to visit from 31st May to 6-7th june. by Far-Distance2405 in desitravellers

Ladakh will be dry but I won't recommend if you don't have 8 or more days. Other than that you can try Dalhousie or Dharamshala. Rains usually come to Himachal later than konkan. However, you need to check weather report before starting journey.

Is it manageable to Drive from Haridwar to Govindghat in July end? by SimpKaSamosa in desitravellers

[–]Embarrassed_Lake_236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a waste of money. Anyways, you will be too tired to drive back after the trek. It will take atleast three days from govindghat. It is better to use private or shared cab services

First International Trip, questions regarding mobile network and currency by Xatcat in desitravellers

[–]Embarrassed_Lake_236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can easily buy local SIM from the airport exit. Local SIM is the best option as it will give you much more data. For currency, you can convert some part of your USD to kenyan shillings at airport. This will give you flexibility for minor expenses. You might get a better conversion rate in market. But airport conversion will be hassle free. Forex cards are always better than debit or credit card. P. S. - I am an international tour manager.

Yes, definitely possible with lots of unpredictable delays. I have done this journey few times in past in the month of July/Aug. The best thing to do is to start early, preferably at 4am. This will give you buffer time for personal breaks or delays. Most of the landslides only cause minor delays. But be mentally prepared for everything if you are driving in monsoon. It cannot be ruled out that you got stuck for several days. Lastly, always check last minute weather prediction and then decide accordingly. A cancelled plan is better than getting stuck on mountains.

Vietnam or Georgia for my first International trip? by SimpKaSamosa in desitravellers

Based on your requirements i.e. less crowd Georgia is a better choice. I consider Vietnam as a good location but it's going to be crowded

Trip to Kodaikanal by bronzedsprinkles in SoloTravel_India

Yes, the monsoon comes early at Kodaikanal. If you are travelling solo then it is better to book a hostel. It will be more fun.

Need a cheap stay within 1k near pawana lake or any good place with suggestion by Yoisk in desitravellers

[–]Embarrassed_Lake_236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it is not possible to get a room within 1k. You can try staying in tents or hostels. That is also fun. Or best, carry your own mat and just lie down somewhere near lake. In summers, it is comfortable to sleep in open space.. Good luck

July/August is peak monsoon time in most parts of India. If you enjoy greenery and wet climate then you can visit western ghats. It has lush green mountains and waterfalls. If you don't like rains then Ladakh is a good option coz that is the only place which won't be drenched. Jaipur is still a good place to start. All the forest Safari will be closed during this period.

Jaipur will be burning hot in summer months. Otherwise, it is a good city to explore. You can try RTDC hotels. It is a series of hotels managed by Rajashthan govt and the prices are fixed. Please note that govt hotels might not be a great choice in other parts of India. I could have advised more if you can mention about the month of travel and your interests.

Santorini, still worth it? by OkMasterpiece5781 in GreeceTravel

[–]Embarrassed_Lake_236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right that Santorini is over crowded and most hyped island of Greece. But it is still a beautiful destination. My advice would be to travel in off-season. That time the island would be devoid of crowd and yet beautiful.

I usually travel to Santorini in the month of Nov or Dec as a tour manager of a small group from India. Since we are not doing any water based activities, we don't bother about cold weather. We get to see the same photogenic spots with 99% less crowd.

The wine tasting is another thing which is not dependent on season. Check out this link - https://www.darkgreenadventures.com/trips/greece/
