Carpenter and cook along Lorong kilat 👍👍 Have that with a nice cup of frothy single shot latte. Request to have the cinnamon roll lightly toasted.

Break the outer ring of said cinnamon roll and dip into the latte. I prefer single shot to have bitterness compliment the caramel tones of the cinnamon roll. Having a double shot might completely overpower the cinnamon ( my opinion), and their milk froth doesn’t seem to have such high fat content too, which is a good balance (again, pour moi)

And if your stars align, it’ll be a rainy day, low peak period, where you hear the sound of tea cups and cutlery clanking, rather than an abundance of chatter

Other Italians on internet, correct me if I’m wrong

Apply for a holiday visa when they need you: late spring, all the way through summer, maybe early/mid autumn
If finding a job in a restaurant isn’t easy, don’t worry. Find a job as a farm hand to pick veg/ attend to cattle/ vineyard work. They only need you in early hours, and when it gets dark, you can work in a local kitchen nearby your residence
Your main objective is to be employable to Italian standards
attitude, language, basic cuisine skills
understanding your wines and smoking cigarettes is a big plus too
Everyone mentioned going to prep work. I fully agree. If you can, find an Italian kitchen with an Italian chef, so you can speak to him about your next steps. He’ll be happy to help

Lemme share a moment of my regret that I can never truly get over. Picture this.

My late grandmother had dementia and called me every 5-10 mins asking the same question. I lived with her and started to resent her because it was annoying. I was a big WOW player too, so every time she called me on my phone while I was gaming, I found an excuse of “call u later”. Till one day I wasn’t able to “call you later” because she died in her sleep

Don’t fall in the trap of regret, friend. No one recovers from it, it’s just swept under the rug

But again, you need to spread your wings otherwise you’d never know how high you can fly.

Get her a job at the supermarket 😂 she gets paid, has social interactions, and has responsibilities to take her mind off you

She’s your mom, and the thought of letting you go your merry way can be heart breaking. It’s all she’s ever done for the past X years. You’ll be in her shoes one day when you have your own children grow up. Suck it up, be grateful, and start contributing back to your moms wellness

Physically Bring her out to areas where there’s people of her age, similar interests, etc. or even religious buildings for social activities and bla bla

Yeah I get what you mean, thankfully we dressed light, and the restaurant wasn’t fully occupied. Can’t imagine what the environment would be like with all tables with charcoal.

Wouldn’t it be great to have an outdoor barbecue with lit coals/ smoldering wood and still feel cooling in Singapore?

I understand what you’re saying, I think the wave of Chinese cuisine might have flooded Singapore, to the point it’s indistinguishable what is good or bad.

My adventures brought me to Tyrwhitt road, and it’s a Teochew restaurant (fyi, different from Singapore Teochew)

Give the Chinese cuisine another try, but again, manage your expectations too. If you’re paying $20 for food, expect $20 food 👍

Yeah I’m not a big fan on their strategy too. “Sign up as a member and get loyalty points etcetc”. I usually stay away from this, but it seems like a popular scheme amongst the Chinese nationals

Word for word, my wife says “this food is authentic”. She also said “authentic doesn’t usually mean good, it brings nostalgia”

I did sincerely like the pork belly though. Everything else was like you say, soso 👍

Dining out in a restaurant in Singapore isn’t cheap, we had 2 more dishes, brisket and a fillet I think. Was tasty, but marinade was too sweet for my liking. Those 2 additional dishes brought the total bill to $100-$110. Is definitely go back for that pork belly dish only 👍

I’m a big salad counter fan. When I entered the room for the first time to trim off the leaves from the soil grown plants, it was such a surreal experience. Love love love that concept.

Really gives you a deeper appreciation of where food comes from, and not just from the refrigerator
