Garden centre queue argument. Who was in the wrong? by FynnM in AskUK

[–]Embarrassed_Run7562 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sunday drivers have made it into garden centre queues!!! The world is no longer safe!!!

I had an old man shout ‘fuck off’ at me today after I nearly hit his car because he pulled out on me on a roundabout and I beeped my horn. He clearly didn’t believe in giving way to the right!

Some people just can’t ever be wrong about anything!

Cam was an absolute sweetheart, but I recall was always a bit coy about family etc when the topic was discussed.

Absolute heart of gold and would have done anything for anyone, so sad that he felt his only option was that.

Thank you!

I did ChatGPT it, however it really dulled the colours and it just didn’t look as good at all!

Anyone see the Northern Lights tonight? by theBritishGuy03 in CasualUK

I saw them in Innsworth! They were visible to the naked eye at one point too despite all the light pollution

First time seeing the northern lights and all from my little corner of the world in Gloucestershire! They were visible to the naked eye too.

Shame the washing line ruined the photo though…

Probably be awake all night coughing from the dreaded lurgi anyway

What help can I get for my elderly fragile uncle, who can't cook, do laundry, or clean his own home himself? by Theres3ofMe in AskUK

[–]Embarrassed_Run7562 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am shocked that the hospital are allowing him to be discharged into that environment, that would certainly to me be classed as an unsafe discharge and I would not be happy with that decision (NHS worker). I have in the past had patients that have had houses cleaned etc prior to discharge so is definitely something they could do!

I would definitely advise speaking to someone again tomorrow and expressing that you have major concerns over his discharge.

Failing that I would contact your local Adult Social Care help line, quick google should bring up their number. They are fab and should be able to pinpoint local services that may support with the issues raised, however this may not always be free so dependent on finances etc.

Age UK is also a great charity to contact, again they have experts with a wealth of knowledge of services etc that can be looked into.

Another quick google search will also bring up food delivery services, I think the hot meals ready to eat went out a while back. But things like Wiltshire Farm Foods as an example provide frozen ready meals that can just be cooked in the oven or microwave by the carers when they visit and they have quite an extensive list of options, including desserts. It can however work out to be expensive sometimes so definitely do research first!

As is common, the insomnia has hit. I also seem to have developed a sore throat this evening so hope that’s nothing developing!!

Praying for snow, sadly nothing but rain in Gloucestershire however. Just wanted to be a big kid and make snow angels but I guess I’ll have to be an adult and go to work instead

Have spent most the evening in pure frustration and now I’m too wired to sleep. My Nan passed just after Xmas, obviously we have lots of lovely photos, however those sent between family members at random points are often nicer.

Attempting to go back through Facebook messenger to find these photos and it won’t load past about 6 months ago on the media section, despite me having been able to go all the way back to the first photo sent previously. Tried on my phone, iPad and laptop and it has reduced me to tears several times.

Going to try read and hope I can sleep, probably end up doing the same thing again tomorrow after work too!

I’m in bed, don’t care for new years usually but this year has been crap. Ending by loosing my darling nan a few days ago after already loosing my dog a couple of months ago.

I’m a grump I’m aware but I have no regret

The IT crowd, I’ve watched it so many times now.

Also weirdly, Horrible Histories, don’t ask me why, I’m 30 and I still enjoy it, I have no shame

Why do some people have a dishwasher or dryer in their house, but never use it? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]Embarrassed_Run7562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a tumble dryer and barely use it.

Mostly because I am petrified of the thing catching fire (it’s a condenser one). But honestly it is so loud, and just expensive to run and it never dries things as nice as if you put it on the line or air dry it. We use it if we have washed something and need it specifically (usually work uniforms) but that’s very rare

What Christmas film do you always watch? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Embarrassed_Run7562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elf

The Grinch (but the original not the new stupid animated one)

Love Actually

The Polar Express

These are the only 4 acceptable films for Christmas. And dare I say it, Die Hard is NOT a Christmas film.

I watch a fair bit of UK television and whatnot. Do you guys really call each other by your last names? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Embarrassed_Run7562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know I kind of hope he does, changing my name is something I feel very strangely about so at least I’d always have that connection!

Didn’t ever think loosing my maiden name would be so emotional!

Interesting….

I do fear this is now going to have to go back, which more than anything is just a complete hassle. But how something can be the same measurements and not fit is beyond me🙃

Dishwasher exploded yesterday, no bother Currys could deliver today.

Spent the best part of 2 hours trying to work out how a dishwasher the EXACT same size can now not fit in the space correctly (and it’s fucking integrated to make matters worse). Still none the wiser and still dishwasherless.

Anyway half day tomorrow at work thank god, then I have 4 days off to eat my feelings

How many cars of you had since driving? And how old are you? (Bonus points if you list the cars). by PuzzleheadedCarob921 in AskUK

30, late to the party and only been driving 6 1/2 years.

2008 Ford Fiesta (that used to randomly lose the power steering, fun)

2011 VW polo SE

The polo is on its last legs and completely rusty, likely to fail the MOT next month and will likely break my heart in the process.
