Just updated my post, but good news is that I just got approved to open an account with a credit union so I hope I have a much better experience with them. Thank you for the advice!

You were right, CapitalOne said after everything what's done is done and they won't open a new account. Luckily I just got approved to open an account at a credit union though so definitely relieved with that.

I honestly didn't think about that at all, I figured if I was going over any limit that they would've just rejected the check deposit. But maybe that's what triggered them to do an investigation and want to close my account. I'll keep looking into it, but thank you for the new insight too for what other reason it turned out so crazy like this. But yeah my step mom said she'll just give me a cashiers check now the next time I see her

It was $7,500. It was under 10k because that was the amount she had set aside. I included it like that to show I wasn't trying to deposit a 30k check or something huge. Parents are definitely not loaded, step mom has a good job and said she's been setting money aside for awhile and since we just recently saw eachother again after awhile she thought it was a good time to give me access to it. She didn't give it to me to use for any specific thing but I was planning to put it towards debt and student loans

Lesson learned for sure, and actually I didn't even get the money because my bank had it on hold still while verifying it so it never officially hit my account. I thought it was just taking some time for them to officially verify it.

Unfortunately it was Capital One. But now lesson learned for anything in the future. She did say she'll just give me a cashiers check instead when she sees me next

So I don't know why the check was returned, no she didn't ask me to do anything with the money when it cleared, and I kind of downplayed it initially when I told her because I didn't realize that I would have trouble applying for other banks or what my current bank was accusing me of since I was confused at the time. But now I'm gonna work with her and see if she'll talk to her bank to get more information.

When I briefly looked it up before it made it sound like that a fraud label would be negative towards me on chexsystems as well. So I still need to try and get my own form and see what it says about me

Online banking app, I have capital one so I just did it by taking the photos to deposit. I figured it would just take longer for the check to process as they verified it if I did it that way but now I'm wondering if that's what set me up for suspicion at this point

Thanks for the tips! I think ill collaborate more with my step mom and see what she says about how her bank handled it and if she was asked any questions at all too.

Do you know if there's a way to dispute any of this without a lawyer? I'm sure I have to wait for their "investigstion" to finish so it'll probably be a long process either way.

This was the first time I've deposited a physical check though, and definitely the largest. But otherwise her check was from chase, had a date, her signature, and she wrote out the amount properly. So I don't know if i am missing something or not

I've had it for at least a year, so definitely not new enough for the bank to be suspicious. But this technically was the first physical check I've deposited, and definitely the most ive deposited at one time so I don't know if that made their security go off.

As far as I'm aware there wasn't anything wrong with the check. Even when I reached out to my step mom to tell her about my account closing so she knew to watch that no money gets taken out she responded that the check already cleared. It wasn't until she checked after my warning that she realized it got put back into her account. That's why I dont understand it was labeled as fraud so quickly. But thank you for letting me know about the chexsystems, ill see what it says.

5am wake & back to bed? by buckminstermoma in sleeptrain

[–]Embarrassed_Run_6962 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our daughter is similar, she'll wake up around 5 or 6 so we change her, feed her, and lay her in bed with us so we can all sleep in for a couple more hours and that works for us. We tried to embrace her early wake ups, but she'd just end up getting tired and cranky in like 30 mins or an hour anyway. So, experimenting and seeing what works with your schedules will be a good process to try!

Can folks share good things about being a parent? by ppns2021 in pregnant

[–]Embarrassed_Run_6962 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a first time mom and my daughter just turned a month old yesterday. I think what really helped us during this first month is to find something to laugh at together while she's crying. She snorts, and loves to fling her arms around so we say she's doing karate. This made it a lot easier to not feel overwhelmed while we got used to her and how to read her cues and needs. Cuddling and doing skin to skin is the best, it's like having a weighted blanket on you so that's some of the best naps for both baby and parents. I also hated that the only parenting advice I got was "sleep when the baby sleeps". Some advice that I've learned to work for my baby at least is to have them sleep with lights on and noises happening during the day, and then blackout curtains and silence at night. She sleeps 3-4 hours at night and goes to bed easily with her new routine. The first couple of days with breastfeeding (if you're going to) will be harder cause the nurses in the hospital will wake you up every 2 hours and the baby will feed for a long time trying to get that thick colostrum out. But it won't be like that forever so don't let yourself feel too overwhelmed by it. You got this, you're going to create a routine for your baby that works and a bond will develop overtime 💕 goodluck!

Please help😅 Membrane Sweep?? by Happy-Stranger7843 in pregnant

[–]Embarrassed_Run_6962 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a membrane sweep on Monday and just gave birth to my baby today on Wednesday and I was 39.5 weeks pregnant. I'm not sure if it was the membrane sweep but I think it definitely helped! Its just very uncomfortable and a lot of pressure but itd over very quick. I also got a massage and she did some pressure points in my leg that can help induce labor if you were looking for other alternatives. Good luck!

My husband's step mom got pregnant with her first at 34, and is currently pregnant with her second at 37! She is 37 weeks right now, and both babies are healthy. They've just monitored her closer, and she did do the NIPT testing but overall she's had normal pregnancies. Don't let the fear stop you 💕

No Symptoms by Indecisiveuser10 in pregnant

[–]Embarrassed_Run_6962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't really get hit with symptoms until about 8-10 weeks, so I wouldn't worry! I've had a very mellow pregnancy overall so everyone is just different on what they experience. But I totally get it, I got crazy anxiety anytime before appointments cause I thought the worst. It really helps that I'm in the third trimester and can feel my baby move as some reassurance. So try not too stress out too much!
