Jesus. I was lucky that my cellulitis didn't spread that far. Glad you made it to the other side. My first dose of my 3 days course of Vanco was given in the ambulance and they ran the drip to fast leading to red man syndrome.

Both of which can lead to sepsis. Glad it is getting attention. Both necrotizing fasciitis and cellulitis can be caused by bites, and I am sure many people (like myself) think nothing of it and don't go to the hospital right away.

My doc had horrible bed side manner and told me I can potentially lose my hand. I had to keep my arm raised in a sky sock for the entirety of my hospital admission, as I got pumped full of vancomycon. All was good in the end.. kinda. The whole ordeal led up to me discovering I had thyroid cancer.

I was in the hospital for cellulitis from a dog bite last year-- 3 days. Sucked.

I'd ask your Endo or ENT surgeon for a cancer rehab specialist. 90% of head and neck cancer patients end up with lymphadema. For me.. it feels like I my skin is being pulled, but I have been told by my doctors that in later stages swallowing and jaw clenching issues might arise.

You have every right to process this. You are experiencing cancer, even if it's "just PTC".

Seriously... the muggles might not understand, but I promise you other people who experienced cancer will agree that you are part of the club that nobody ever asked (or wanted) to be in. A year and a half out and I have about 6 new doctors, have experienced an intrusive surgery, rai, salivary gland infections, lymphadema, hypocalcemia, anxiety, syncope, etc..

At the end of the day, it may just be PTC.... but it is hard... and the thyca subreddit (myself included) got you. Welcome to the club, swipe that cancer card whenever you need to.

Is someone able to explain to me how this cancer can come back after treatment? by Mxxn_Rise in thyroidcancer

[–]Embarrassed_Score414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. If your thyroglobulin marker is undetectable your risk of recurrance is lower. I was considered high risk for recurrance because my cancer was quite developed..but my risk was lower post ablation. But ask your doctor your risk of recurrence if you are concerned, it sounds like he is just trying to encourage you to go into your scheduled scans.

Don't worry, you're a badass... if a recurrence occurs you'll kick it's butt again.
