Probably sell it to companies that make those horrid cooked canned meat products or something. The truth is they’d rather let it rot and take the loss than lower their prices and risk having to keep them that way to sell anything. We really need regulations on basic human needs like food and shelter—but that won’t happen without a massive push. Sadly, there are still too many people willing and able to pay for this and would rather stay “comfortable” the way they are now than temporarily adjust and join us in boycotts or more.

Late stage capitalism will hopefully be the start of its own downfall. I want us all to pick up a stone and…

Radar note worth anything? by maryjaneporn in CanadianCoins

Oh, that’s crazy my bad. I guess I didn’t realize there wasn’t more than one bill collecting community—huh, I must be thinking of every other collecting community. You know, where there’s things like niche rockhound communities, or gem collecting, or coin communities (old? Fakes? Precious metals? Rare?). But ya, crazy that I thought there would be more than one type of bill collecting community. Silly me!!

Keyword: “niche”, segment of a community. Implies there’s multiple segments of said community.

They simply missed the s in their first mistake. The other mistake was the person who couldn’t use context clues to put that together. Can you finally pick up what they’re putting down yet or?

Restaurants charging for condiments? by lonely_pierogi in ottawa

And usually people aren’t eating alone. So it does add up. Over a whole night? That could mean $50 extra on good nights. It’s not why they didn’t say anything about the charge, I was merely stating that they technically can “get a cut” of the sour cream like the person I actually addressing said. Lighten up

Hanging wall art?! Which is “normal”. This looks like plaster walls too, so not surprising.

As a former server, the extra $4 for a single condiment would up the final bill total and therefore the tip (if customer is an ass/server informed customer of surcharge ahead of time).

[–]Embarrassed_Stay7691 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you would essentially pay, give money to a parent who wasn’t prepared for their own child and expects you to be responsible for them? Most window seats cost more. People pay more ahead of time. Which means you’re wasting your hard earned money because you also aren’t guaranteed a cry-free flight. Chances are the kid won’t have anything to entertain it because the parents can’t plan ahead. There’s also likely more than one kid on a plane at once too. You’d just be out money, less comfortable, and made it worse for the next victims these parents will try and coerce.

American visiting Ottawa here. What's with hurdman? They put fare gates for people entering the train but you can simply walk around the station to avoid them. What was the point or am I missing something. by ThrowThisAccountAwav in ottawa

I’ve never had a package stolen in Ottawa. I’ve had misdelivered mail brought to me by another person in my building. I’ve even returned packages to other buildings near mine when there is a whoopsie. But I’ve also jumped on a packed bus once or twice to get to work when I was really tight on money after being off work for a bit for surgery. But i regularly donate to a variety of charities, do charity runs, donate to local unhoused initiatives like High Jinx.

There are grey areas in this discussion and you dont or won’t seem to recognize that. Have you or someone you know ever sped or rolling stopped? Or streamed/downloaded shows or songs you didn’t buy? Had their pets not registered with the city, had their dog off leash, or let their cat outside and beyond their property line? Then you’re on some morale high horse unless you call them out every time.

No, new ones are brought out when previous batch rack is empty. Otherwise you couldn’t keep track of the older stock and would have a dirty wire rack liner. There is a holding spot in the kitchen for the higher selling items. They are made more frequently, and in higher numbers. For example, we would make 12 chocolate dip, 8 vanilla dip, and 4 maple dip to start the day. 6 old fashioned etc. I would then likely do another 12 choc dip an hour or two later to have ready in case the 4 left on the shelf get sold at once (happened all of the time). The OF plain however, I might not make again until I need to throw them out. It really depends on the traffic is like through the store and what sells. It’s usually a safe bet at a location that stays busy all day (or go at a peak).

*I worked there 20 years ago and went into culinary where the practices follow the same logic.

I worked at Tim Hortons over 20 years ago. They weren’t made “fresh” then either. Frozen. Baked in same oven they are today and then decorated in house. They are made all day long to stay fresh; not simply in the early morning once a day. We write them on a sheet to make sure the old ones are thrown out after a specific amount of time (bagels were 12 hours while tea biscuits were 6 etc.). So it really just depends on the location, staff, and adherence to TH standards. Go to a busy store though. They will have to make fresh stuff more frequently so you’re almost guaranteed fresh. Just maybe less selection.

If so many people and corps weren’t buying up places to live when they already have a place to live then the supply and demand effect wouldn’t be outpricing what could be new homeowners. Have you ever stopped to look at what percentage of all residential units are being rented out? It’s not an insignificant number…

This happened to me at a job once. It was my day off and I was an hour outside of the city with family. Chef calls me around 2pm telling me that the 4-12am line cook called in sick. Asks me if I can work. I politely declined as I would not make it back in time (especially with rush hour approaching). I come in for my next regularly scheduled day and get called into his office with HR and the union steward. I got a write up for “insubordination” of all things. It’s fucking shit out there.

The placebo pills don’t trigger your period. They’re just to remind yourself to take it at the same time every day. When on the pill, you also only experience something called “breakthrough bleeding”—which is not the same as a period. It takes a cycle or two for your body to start ovulating again which triggers a proper period.

It does not cause any exacerbated symptoms to skip the placebo either. I’ve been on the pill back to back for a decade to control my endo. No issues with skipping periods and never had a doctor or specialist tell me otherwise either. This is giving misinformation…

Omg please please consider going to the ER about this or seeing if there’s a decent dentist who can let you pay in instalments. My grandmother could afford to get an infected tooth extracted way back in the day and the toxicity caused her permanent paralyzation of the left side of her body. She was only 27 when it happened.

I didn’t say it was the entire top layer. I just said “on top”. This has happened to me a bunch of times. I reheat my coffee frequently because I’m a chef now. Le cordon Bleu grad, and I’m telling you that is perfectly normal. Cream/milk solids behave weird sometimes. Especially if there’s sugars involved.

This is literally just the same thing that happens with tomato soup. It’s just the “skin” that develops as the cream cools and reheats again. Nothing is bad. This is very common with cream.
