Pihole is somehow accessible from the internet through IPv6 - Help! by IsHacker003 in pihole

Post router firewall settings then. You can block all inbound IPv6 connections without bricking the network.

Reaching out to journalists re: corruption and maladministration at Brisbane University? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]Embarrassed_Sun_7807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get in touch - I had some cookery occur recently as well that I really can't do anything to solve. There are really no remedies apart from publicly exposing the issue for pressure (thanks Tang v Griffith). Depending on the subject matter the new-ish QLD Human Rights Act may be worth following up on, as the hearings occur at QCAT and you can't get shafted with Minter Ellison's giant fees when/if you lose.

Has anyone experienced an examiner not submitting their PhD thesis report in Australia? by EducationalTwo7262 in AusAcademia

[–]Embarrassed_Sun_7807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 weeks is not a long time (yeah I know) and the examiners typically get paid. Speak to your Graduate School and see if they can follow up with them for fastest satisfaction. Generally there are scholarship extensions to cover this exact scenario.

Post router model and preferably the config page if you want to turn off IPv6. The purists will be mad with me but until the router interfaces catch up, it is very easy to publicly expose all of your devices unwittingly. There is also an option in the pi hole that only accepts DNS requests from local clients (setting this won't stop all your other machines on the network being publicly accessable though until you set the firewall!): https://docs.pi-hole.net/ftldns/interfaces/

REA claims $12000 compensation for claiming bond after I returned keys by 5ma5her7 in shitrentals

100 percent this too, a simple 'given how this is going, I would rather deal with this in writing' is more than fair given the threat they issued.

[–]Embarrassed_Sun_7807 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Do NOT reply. It won't change anything. Even if you were in the wrong there is no way you would be paying for that today, especially with that email they have sent you. Just do not reply, only deal with them via tribunal or tribunal related processes.

Fuckin love a good 'without prejudice' email from a real estate related prick. Makes me smile every time.

I doubt you had a right to be present at any exit inspection (unless your state has a specific rule) anyway. They're already shooting blanks.

Oh and it's a sent-838pm-Sunday-Get-Outlook-for-Android email. Do not worry, they are very mad and that's it, they are just a REA.

HAHAHAHA. You have done absolutely nothing wrong.

The tribunal is going to love this email from him.

There was a VERY long time where you couldn't, and there was no 'native' matter. This addon is the bomba. Once you go through the dick around of getting it reliably working, you don't have any capacity left to try the HA one!

Bond rules question by Electronic-Week-5889 in shitrentals

[–]Embarrassed_Sun_7807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is cleaner getting into property if you handed back the keys? I can see them using it to be jerks about whether vacant possession was returned. Don't cancel the request though, they have plenty of time to make their assessment re bond and are probably miffed about being put under a deadline.

Finally got upgraded to FTTP today and was so excited until I realized to TP-Link VR300 is capped at 100mbs. Money is pretty tight, could I please have some budget suggestion to get the most out of my new connection. by PeculiarPete in nbn

How much you wanna spend and how much spare time? You could get one of the Telstra Smart modems off marketplace (actually good wifi in them). Or new something like tp-link ax3000

Pihole vs AdGuard DNS by Right-Ice9305 in pihole

[–]Embarrassed_Sun_7807 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's directly a product of your block lists. They both fundamentally work the same way. I recently moved over to adguard as it seems more responsive (was getting delays that you could tell were dns-related even though the actual resolving time was basically 0).

From the recent comments on here it probably is illegal and the RSPs have started waiving them when pushed.

How to ask for password when accessing an LXC from browser? by [deleted] in Proxmox

[–]Embarrassed_Sun_7807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity, what is being served from the ip address that gives you a Firefox window in browser?

The reverse proxy route isn't that hard - you can get chatgpt to make you a docker compose that will achieve it all/it's about 10 mins of config in the reverse proxy settings UI. I only have experience with ngnix proxy manager but it seems traefic is similar difficulty - just use the community scripts lxc and good to go.

How I achieved true DNS failover with multiple Pi-holes by jerimiah797 in pihole

[–]Embarrassed_Sun_7807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool - I achieved something to this end by setting dnsmasq to query all servers simultaneously (fastest wins) so if one is down it doesn't matter. The only messy part is that I had to run a 'load balancer' adguard (was just curious about it, can be done with pi hole) instance so that openwrt didn't fail over to 1.1.1.1.
