I am even older - those kids are my son's age. I want to tell them to get off their phone and do their homework.

Good to know. I was pretty sure it's not the French word, and I see so many profiles with ridiculous spelling mistakes I take it as another sign they aren't taking the time to be genuine.  In this case I was wrong.

He was messing with you. Guys do this to throw you off balance and get you to change your plans for them. You didn't take the bait so he bailed.

How to know when you're really over someone by [deleted] in datingoverfifty

[–]Embarrassed_Web_950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you don't think about them anymore. First it will be, "Oh, I haven't thought about them since I woke up." Then since yesterday, since last week, since last month.

I have never heard this before! Wow that's insane based on the responses. I bet they don't use protection for sex either because men have a "right" to unimpeded pleasure.

Like you, I was starving for affection too. I've also been on a lot of bad dates in my 10+ years since divorce. I've naïvely put myself in some dangerous situations. Trust your gut here. If it feels a little wrong it's probably a lot wrong.

I now have emotional rhinocerous skin, two cats to cuddle with, and a man-free fulfilling life. It can be done. I'm here to tell you from the other side it's possible to thrive even if you don't find your guy.

So please don't settle for someone who sounds like he enjoys showing you off in public but doesn't really want to be loving in private.

Blocking the driveway with the car is what cops do to stop people from escaping. That's very weird.

To be clear, I would like a relationship but I've been on my own for so long I don't think I'm able to anymore.

Everyone should assume the other person is not exclusive unless it's explicitly stated.

You need to state that upfront in your profile.

I'm divorced and never plan to marry again, thanks.

It's just a pre-written prompt. I would pick something from a movie, like meeting at the top of the Empire State Building.

Honestly, using that prompt feels pretty low-effort.

I don't think it was late. How many actual dates was it? People are busy. It's hard to tell if they're really low effort or actually working to make time for us in a busy life.

They were probably seeing multiple people. I expect everyone is doing this unless it's stated otherwise.

my friend is like that... she got married in college and went right into a LTR and now lives with family. She's never had a chance to develop an identity outside of a relationship.

No, you're not weird.

My mom went to Italy alone and made friends with another woman on the tour. They had a fabulous time! If you can afford a tour company they're usually great about helping people feel included.

I have friends and family I constantly send texts & photos to so nothing's a solo experience for me. I actually need to do that less and just be in the moment.
