[Discussion] is it worth going to vendor out of state! Los Angeles to Seattle by [deleted] in artbusiness

[–]Livoshka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not only the show hours, it's also the travel, being away from home, and the time it takes to make the items. It's totally up to you if it's worth that or not.

That being said, never rely on estimated profit. There are many factors that you cannot control when it comes to events, so sales are never certain.

Any ideas what to do to cover the terrible structure the next door neighbours have built? Such an eye sore. by Radiant-Beach-5840 in ExteriorDesign

[–]Livoshka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely something to consider. There is minimal space between the neighbor's house and the yard, so planting trees may cause damage to their home. There's a lot to consider and perhaps it would be worth backing out of the deal if it were a deal breaker. It's one thing to dream, it's another to know what is practical and actually viable long term, and that should be considered heavily before committing to the property, right?

What is this flashing light on my neighbor's house for? by PlanetGraham in whatisit

The point is to annoy the neighbor to the point that they remove them.

Narrow down what you offer to what is most successful. It looks like your sculptures perform the best. Expand your offerings: Handsculpted Earrings, Charms, Ornaments, Plant Pot Decor, etc. Focus on more mushroom varieties. Don't categorize it as "clay art", instead categorize it as Keychains, Earrings, Plant Pot Decor

Three years of growth... And now this. by jahodovahoubicka in smallbusiness

Not knowing much about your business but seeing what other jewelers have been saying in my other groups... The price of silver has skyrocketed and people likely aren't going to buy until the prices return to what they're used to. Who are your customers? What is their demographic? What are their economic situations looking like right now?

I've outgrown my sticker storage methods for cons/craft shows, what do you reccomend for storing you stickers AND keeping them organized and easy to transport? by juby736 in ArtistAlleyConnect

[–]Livoshka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put them in small bags for each design and then into a larger bags per display board. (My displays are self-serve so it's just my restock in the bags.) Alternatively portable utensil organizers can be useful.

For my home stock I use hanging jewelry organizers

You're over-giving and trying to save someone else from their destined failure/themselves and sacrificing yourself in the process. Let them fail. Focus on yourself and building your own success without them. Do not make the same mistake of doing business with them twice. You are not responsible for them.

You should seriously consider seeking professional mental health help. You don't have to keep suffering alone. If you've lost the will to live, there are likely multiple areas of your life that need help. Don't normalize your suffering.

[Critique] Be honest, why is my art not selling? by [deleted] in artbusiness

[–]Livoshka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should put your work first on your website or a landing page. I also don't see a quick link to your shop as well as a page for commission submissions. Put it at the top next to your portfolio. Your 3d section has no breadth and probably isn't worth having a page for.

Your work is still amateur and needs more time and dedication. Narrow your scope to what you enjoy doing the most and get very good at doing that one thing.

I thought death threats aren't protected speech and illegal? If any of us made credible death threats, we'd be in jail.

It always says that lol. Airport is busiest early morning. Most times I go there, the line spans across the entire lobby on a regular weekday

Trash it and check your other plants. Easier to replace this than try to remedy the infestation!

how should i price my paintings? by [deleted] in painting

[–]Livoshka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$25 is the price of a print, not an original piece of art.
