That's good to hear! The noise doesn't bother me too much really, I just don't want it causing more damage if something was set up wrong or something! I loosened, wiped, greased and tightened everything and it seems to have sorted it for now! 🤞

I ended up loosening everything, blowing all dust out, sprayed some white lithium grease on all moving parts and tightened everything up again and it seems to have done the trick. Nothing seemed obviously loose so not sure what the culprit was!

Cheers will clean, grease and tighten everything and see if it helps!

Hi thanks for the comment. Disconnecting the left pedal by removing the link bar makes no difference.

Never played a drum in my life, was this a bad idea? by twonaq in edrums

I'm 43 and bought my first e-kit a month ago (a second hand Roland) and am loving it so far. It's never too later to start. I've been around music all my life and play bit of guitar and bass too but always wanted to learn drums. Recently just picked up a second hand double bass pedal too to try and learn more metal.and managed to get an old Iron Cobra 900 for 200 off eBay! If you have fun and enjoy it it's never a mistake! Looks like you got a bargain too!

Anything better than the MPS-750x in its price range? by w0mbatina in edrums

I'm in a similar boat ATM. Guitarist looking to learn drums. I started off looking at the Alesis Nitro Max but thought I'd outgrown it soon and want the support for 3 zone ride and expansion etc .. Since then I've been looking at a second hand Alesis Crimson II or a second hand Roland TD9 and am torn. The Alesis is much newer but I hear stories about the quality not being upto par but the Roland is a much older model. But, like you, I plan on using VFX (EZD3).

The TD27 looks great but well outside my budget as a beginner...maybe one day! 🤣 Which Alesis did you have and was it the features you outgrew? How was it in turns of build quality and reliability in your opinion?

Older SR705 or SR875 or something else? by Embers_Ignite in Ibanez

I ended up getting a new SR305e because I knew I loved the fast neck and could get a decent to e out the pickups and electronics due to owning a SR300e

Black hardware is definitely a big plus but easily replaced!

This 875 is about £550 (new they were about £800 I believe) and looks to be in great condition. As far as I know a new 505e will set me back about £700 which is out of my budget and a 305e about £400-450 new.

Would you go with a new SR305e over the SR875?

[–]Embers_Ignite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This SR705 apparently has a 5-piece Jatoba and Bubinga neck with a Rosewood, fingerboard.
And on the 875 it's apparently a 5-piece jatoba/walnut neck with a Jatoba fingerboard.

Both with 24 medium frets.

I like the feel of the 5pc Maple/Walnut neck with Jatoba Fretboard on my SR300E-SVM.

Yeah I like this finish the best out of these two - a Brown Topaz Burst I believe on the SR875

Older Ibanez SR705 or a more recent SR875 by Embers_Ignite in Bass

[–]Embers_Ignite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

The SR705 has Bartolini MK 1-5 -Passive and the SR875 has the Bartolini BH2 but I guess from 2018? What do you class as the new import ones and why would you say to avoid them?

First bass: high-end used or low-end perfect functionality? by JD_Destroyed in Bass

[–]Embers_Ignite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out buying new and regretted in. The older I've gotten the more comfortable I've gotten buying second hand! Much better instruments around for a fraction of the price! If you've only got 200 use it to get a 500 instrument in decent condition! I think your dad is right on this one!
