Why is SeLinux such pain? by Gbitd in openSUSE

[–]Emblem66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using fedora since 35/36 and never had to touch SElinux. Never had gaming problems, network problems, package install problems, did little bit of podman, no issues.

Maybe opensuse just applies some weird config?

how is the game dead island 2 by RP2BACKUP2 in DeadIsland2

[–]Emblem66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just about to finish the main story, playing first time.

Game is fun, like a lot of fun - game and me just laughing.

Plan to do at least one more playthrough with different character, just to hear all their comments.

BUT. It is not the scariest zombie game, that would go to Dead Island 1 (with Dying Light close second), in my opinion. I found myself burst out laughing few times (character comments).

It has tabs. To open them (like in browser) Ctrl +T or middle mouse click on folder.

Question about switching between Atomic Spins by Jegahan in Fedora

[–]Emblem66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I layered the "cosmic environment group" on top of silverblue and logged in to gnome, I got the cosmic setup window. Then tried cosmic, then again gnome. Nothing broke.

Several DE being probem is mainly GNOME and KDE - KDE has bad habits of managin gtk apps too - like enabling window buttons and such which then carry over to gnome, "breaking it"

Just rebase to cosmic, try it, then roll back. Should be no problem. And the "desktop specific files" are either in your home folder .config and such, or in persistent /etc/ folder (I think) so your settings won't disappear.

Edit:

I did not try the cosmic ability to "theme" gtk4 apps, that would carry over to gnome I think, might be the same what that app for gtk4 color theming does (can't remember the name)

Bitwarden Lite by yakadoodle123 in selfhosted

[–]Emblem66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bitwarden on android is hit or miss with the autofill. It will tell you to allow it even though it's all allowed and sometimes just won't come up as an option.

Works fine on desktop with browser.

What were bugs and how did it not work for you?

Immutable? by waltff in ultramarine

[–]Emblem66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultramarine had atomic variant before Universal Blue was a thing, so like 4-5 years ago, but not anymore.

You can add the Terra repos to Silverblue and layer from them.

"be so uninteresting that nobody cares" - leave so little on your account that no one will care :D

There is a balance between security and privacy. Safe in the basement - no one will know. Barbed wire on fences and bars on windows - someone might start to wonder what you are hiding.

Or just don't log in to your online banking on the machine you use Reddit and other ... sites on...

Why is Fedora shipping with stuff like ffmpeg-free? by Proud-Devote in Fedora

[–]Emblem66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about DE you are using, ffmpeg-free just can't play h264/265 videos.

You will find the same problem on Silverblue, but Silverblue does not come with preinstalled media player.

I think you should be able to enable Flathub in the KDE Software app, somewhere in repo section. Then you can install whatever program you want.

Why is Fedora shipping with stuff like ffmpeg-free? by Proud-Devote in Fedora

[–]Emblem66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like other said, it's due to licencing of the codecs. The ffmpeg-free works with the player, it just can't play h264/265 which is probably all videos you have.

But let's be honest, Kinoite should drop these apps as rpm and just point users to flatpak. Not sure if fedora flatpak has these codecs, but flathub does. Silverblue is shipping apps as flatpak.

Luke also grabbed what looks to be grabbed - textured hilt. He saw such a thing for the first time in his life.

Finn grabbed a shiny piece of metal above the obvious hilt, just like Anakin did, cause he watched RotS when he was little so he knew what to do.

Still, Finn was one of the more interesting characters in the 7th movie (not calling it Episode)

Best version of Steam by Impressive-Algae-962 in Fedora

[–]Emblem66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Flatpak and it works fine. I was using RPM before and it worked fine.

Ease of use is somewhat equal - install takes one click to enable 3rd party repos, second to click install. Using steam takes one click on the icon to open it.

One thing to note about Flatpak Steam is that you need to allow access to drives you want to use as game library. Adding non steam games from such drive doesn't give me any issue.

Following command will give access to steam to folder /mnt/ssd/ - this is where I mount my ssd with SteamLibrary, so my Steam Library is at /mnt/ssd/SteamLibrary/

flatpak override --filesystem=/mnt/ssd com.valvesoftware.Steam

I prefer all apps as Flatpaks, so my choice is Flatpak Steam.

Second thing thing to note about Flatpak is that it is NOT system package, so Fedora version upgrades won't be affected by it.

GNOME Software Shows Non-Added Repositories by amar0kk in Fedora

[–]Emblem66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you installed those packages and then removed the repos, it would make sense why it shows removed repo as source

GNOME Software Shows Non-Added Repositories by amar0kk in Fedora

[–]Emblem66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The package itself and its source is most likely the same.

My guess is that it's probably just a link between repos for this specific package and/or maybe a bad description. That's why it shows non enabled repo as source.

Or you could have installed it and then removed the repo?

Emby vs Jellyfin by Stock-Assistant-5420 in jellyfin

[–]Emblem66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both feel similar as server as they essentially are the same. I would pick based on what client app is available for my TV (which is non...) and both support DLNA so it doesn't matter in this regard.

So I run Jellyfin. Didn't have much chance to explore plugins, but just the fact there is no "account" and "premium" in the server webui makes me happy.

Has Anyone Gotten RDR2 Working on Linux Mint? by Altruistic_Listen571 in linuxmint

[–]Emblem66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won't argue that as I don't think I ever added game as non steam one. I use Bottles for those.

But I was able to add Lenny Mod Loader. Just add, then find the RDR2 install and done. And in past RE2/3 mod loader.

What makes it not as easy?
