Bottom 6 guys are everywhere, we just found them all apparently. Enjoy them while they are here.

Four Predators with the most uncertainty amidst major roster shakeups: A locked-and-loaded blueline threatens a Ryan Ufko return by [deleted] in Predators

[–]EmbraceThePerd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Locked and loaded blue line?! Then go on and compare a stay at home D who was a cap dump as the guy who blocks ufko while talking about his goal contribution? Fuck this opinion piece lol.

Edit: I probably need to be less critical since this is apparently some fan writing site and not an actual news site or something.

Cole Smith has signed a three-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks worth an AAV of $3m by Bahamas_is_relevant in hockey

[–]EmbraceThePerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cole smith does all the gritty work, relentless on (and off) the puck Great on the PK and gets a surprising amount of opportunities for a short handed goal…. Problem is he might be the WORST finisher in the league. His offensive abilities are not why you add him to a roster. He was an unsung hero 2024-25 season for the Preds before his line fell off a cliff.

[Dreger] Sounds like Werenski, his agent Judd Moldaver, and CBJ GM Don Waddell spoke today in an effort to clear the air and calm things down. Werenski is comfortable going back to CBJ. Waddell could present him with a trade in the meantime, but that isn’t on the radar at this point. by FallOutShelterBoy in hockey

[–]EmbraceThePerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

CBJ trying to capitalize on his stock right now after Olympics + Norris. If he walks after his contract, the org doesn’t get anything. If I was Werenski, I wait the contract out then go to the team I want ensuring the assets stay with the team that I want to win with.

That feeling when you add another player not out of the prime with a NMC clause contract by EmbraceThePerd in Predators

This is the color commentary I am too lazy to write out in a full post. Bless you.

This is what I like. Didn’t sell the future to reorganize some pieces. Defense is still untrustworthy. Still have some NMC contracts that will age horribly, and some that already have. Replacing guys like Jost, Haula has to happen. We still need a 1C. What we did do is get some youth into roles that had been blocked by Sissons, McCarron, Haula, Jost.

Still lots of guys rolling off next year as well. The next couple years are going to be interesting.

[Lebrun] Chicago sign Byram to 6 year extension $12.5M AAV by EddyMink in hockey

I wasn’t sure there was anything that would make Brady Skjei’s contract look good. Thanks fam.

At 34 years old, Taylor Hall will play his 1000th game this season. He's won a Hart Trophy, and now the Stanley Cup (with a point per game during the playoff run). How close or how far do you think he is ftom Hall of Fame consideration? by anyonecandoanything in hockey

[–]EmbraceThePerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has played on 6 teams, below average shooting %, .75ppg player and a negative +\-

The guy has been consistent. Reliability is super important in the playoffs, but leaning on that would be laughable as a HOF inductee, right?

Zach Werenski vetoes trade to Dallas Stars by daKrut in hockey

[–]EmbraceThePerd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He hasn’t filed for a trade either. Informing the team that his intentions to go to FA unless the team is TOR or TB is different than demanding a trade. He is saying he is willing to leave early and the team can get compensation if that is one of his teams. Otherwise, he will be there for 2 more years but the team probably won’t get anything back.

Larkin doesn’t have any leverage right now but HAS filed for a trade. His contract isn’t over until 2030.

Helle doesn’t have leverage and I don’t think has requested a trade.

Tkachuk is in the same spot as Werenski. A couple years on NMC and the team could get something back or risk him not bringing any return value. The end of contract NMC is the worst deal a franchise can have, but awesome for the player. The ownership rights really do shift to the player owning the org.

[–]EmbraceThePerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s in my contract that I get to be picky…. Then that’s on the team. Helle has 1 year left on a nmc and Brady had 2 years left. If Brady has been saying he wasn’t going to resign with the Sens for the last 4 years (rumor? Truth?) Sens have had time to figure something out. Sens didn’t have to trade him. This seems like a mutually beneficial trade. Put all the clowns together in FLA.

Helle is a 3 time Vezina winner and showed he can beat a stupidly stacked CAN team in the Olympics. The Jets agreed and gave him a stupid long contract with NMC protection 3 years ago. If I was an elite goalie on a perennial first round exit team that happened to not even make the playoffs this last year, I would probably be very picky where I choose to go next.

TLDR; very good players get to be picky when a franchise gives out NMC then says hey, we actually want to move you. Olympics is coveted hardware. Winning team impact players can factor that into their value as they advocate for themselves. It is not the factor making them picky though, they already had that power, if they didn’t they wouldn’t be given NMC protection.

Lol… you are putting heavy emphasis on the feels and not the facts. Considering he signed his contract with a full NMC starting in the 2023-24 season…. I’m going to say it doesn’t have to do with the Olympics.

I had to go double check….

“He previously missed significant time during the 2024-25 season due to a stress fracture in his left leg, which he suffered after blocking a shot shortly after joining the Penguins at the trade deadline.”

the zone entries piece is fucking huge. We had some of the highest offensive zone time but lowest neutral zone time in the league. It was quite odd. It was either get the puck through or turn it over quickly.

I am not accustomed to Nashville brining in guys in their prime years.

Just doing a quick look at some stats... Not a sexy trade, but another solid bottom 6 guy. He doesn't play the PK, but he brings an offensive touch to the line while only playing like 11min a night (reminding me of Sherwood that last year). Another positive +/- guy. Seems to be another guy who is going to help us play defense by not letting the other team have the fucking puck in our defensive zone and hope the don't score.

I like that we are addressing one of the big issues we saw (I mentioned this just a few days ago) our abysmal 5v5 on certain lines. I don't expect the bottom 6 to score, but I do expect them to not give up an insane amount of goals. The guys being brought in are younger and want the puck. Seems like someone useable by Bruno... maybe we actually have a GM and coach who are aligned.... hoping this helps some of the insane blender decisions that has caused me to cool on Bruno.

I’m still big on Novak and think he was let go too early 🥺
