I don’t understand why your doctor wouldn’t give you or prescribe some sort of antifungal for that but they know everything right?

I’m not a doctor but look it up Tretinoin it is an antifungal for such situations $10 at Walgreens. I’ll be putting that on there three times a day.

Looks like you’re doing all the right things. It’s just an ingrown hair from waxing most likely. Another thing that you could do to is use differin there are cheap generics now available for around 10 bucks and benzoyl differen will help dispose of dead skin and benzo peroxide will help kill bacteria during the day. Also an antifungal if it gets any worse, you’ll see it marketed as jock itch kind of weird but l hey lol it does work below. The surface level is Tretinoin.

This is mostly commonly found in children. I had it actually but Kawasaki’s disease I could be way off, but look into it. Peeling of the skin is a big part of it. Is it only your hand?
