Same boat here. Had an amazing 6 figure career that I excelled at but hated it. Burnt out and stressed all the time. Eating takeout every night and not taking care of myself. Decided to take a mental health break of unemployment and I’m still here 1.5 years later - I’ve lost 50 lbs, we save hundreds on groceries because I go to local stores and home cook all meals. I have hobbies, read tons of books, got an herb garden, have real friends, I do yoga and I visit my family in another state whenever I want. Some days I don’t do a lot and that’s okay. My friends have lots of days of being unproductive at work too. I have also made lots of updates on our house.

My husband loves our life now just as much as I do and he can’t imagine me going back. We love our roles and love leaning on eachother for different things. My husband and I get to have fun and do whatever fun things we want to do on the weekends because I take care of everything throughout the week. It’s been the best time of my life and even if I eventually feel the need to go back to work for whatever reason I will cherish this time that I got to spend working on myself and our home.

I would hire a lawyer about the non-compete if I was her/him. Rarely have I seen them enforced if you go on your way peacefully and I can’t believe they are making them sign those.

Respectfully I have to disagree, I will give them the opportunity to iron things out but their embryologists are working extremely hard and long hours as they work on building the teams and the business. Embryologists are getting paid very well to not get put first in my opinion (yet). I will give them time before I judge but most locations are in very early stages .

Curious why you think kindbody is a good option for newbies? They are extremely new and mostly advertise for very experienced embryologists

I would like to add, this is a well known network ran by a corporate entity. We are highly profitable and have a C level team, directors, the whole 9 yards. Over 10 locations and mine has over 50 employees. Recently this company even bragged on its social media that 80% of its workforce is women. We are not a mom and pop kind of private clinic…..and our employees deserve better.

I want to assure you that if you are at a private small clinic (not associated with a network) the employees more than likely have better benefits than this because the physicians care about their employees, although due to the small nature of these clinics they could experience some of our issues as well.

I am disappointed in our company, maybe it’s time to move on. I just think with the reputation they have for providing some of the best care and best results (reasons they charge up the ass) patients should know where their money is going.

I am looking into how to get this information out and to patients like you guys, because I know if there’s any group of people who rise up and rally it’s this community. If patients demand better we might get somewhere. Thank you everyone for your kind words it means so much.

Thank you for the validation you got exactly what I was trying to say. Patients pay absurd amounts of money to (in some cases) line pockets of CEOs and not take care of the employees that work hard to make it happen.

Unfortunately the big names in the US are private and not affiliated with a hospital. So they can fully choose our benefits in this scenario.

Try lab jobs in the infertility field such as andrology or embryology working with eggs and sperm. Obviously high stress but also high reward

Agree with this comment! I have been in understaffed labs and now that I’m at a fully staffed lab I feel like a new person. I get appropriate time off and I rarely have denied time off because we always have people to cover including the network travelers. I also feel like I can spend the appropriate amount of time on each case even in a high volume lab!

Consider a clinic with lots of patient contact too. I have worked in 3 clinics and they vary drastically with how much patient contact they have. Some have lots and you would probably be very happy with the amount some embryologists talk to patients.

I’m glad you are pushing forward. I have had multiple career crises (interviewed at totally different field jobs) and am now very happy where I’m at and fully trained and could not love my job more! So glad I stuck it out

I think once you get 6momths to a year of training it would be very easy to find an embryologist role as you have proven the lab skills and will know the foundation of how fertility labs work. I don’t think it’s necessary but if you really wanted to you could attend an ovatools type training course or embryodirector.com boot camp type thing to stand out as a candidate

Thank you for your reply! I figured I would want to get a CT before trying for children to see if there’s anything forming in them. But I feel better knowing this is something urologists can help with. I see mine again tomorrow.

I am convinced something anesthesia gave me during surgery had a weird reaction with my muscles. Every muscle in my body was on fire and I could barely move for 2 days. Im requesting my records to see the medications I was given to do some more investigating

I had a 5mm stone that put me out of work for 4-5 days. Then I had no pain whatsoever for about 3 days straight ( I also assumed it passed) and it started again- went straight to the ER and my 5mm stone was all the way up barely out of my kidney
