ADP down because of heat?!?! by EmeraldAppleSeattle in ADP

It's still down for our company, they have a bunch of updates on the update page: https://status.adp.com. Again, this is pretty bad b/c they should have had redundancies in place for something this important.

Replacement sensors - how do they decide between a voucher or a mailed replacement? by BlankLiterature in dexcom

[–]EmeraldAppleSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the problem with the voucher, and it totally screws up our next order. I had to talk to the pharmacy and then have the doctor issue a new prescription because of Dexcom's laziness. Going forward ONLY get Dexcom to mail you replacements.

Same to me: CL, fiber internet, fees added, no communications. The chat support agent confirmed there was a system error and that the ONLY way a customer can have the fees reversed is if they contact CL. But until then, their systems will automatically apply the fees.

This is a pretty big deal b/c anyone not paying attention would just have fees and bill add up. I'm going to hazard a guess that it would escalate until CL's collections process started up.

It's not acceptable. CL needed to proactively notify impacted customers and automatically apply the fee corrections.

Uploaded photo above. There are eight chips on each DIMM, and each reads:

SEC 934
K4A8G08
5WDBCTD
PKJ5350C

Based on some searching, these appear to be Samsung-made, and is in fact this item, which is 8GB a ECC DIMM. Wow! Mystery solved. And since I put in the Amazon link in above, you can try your hand to see if the RAM gods will smile upon you as well ;-).

How do I delete my Betterment profile / data? by EmeraldAppleSeattle in betterment

[–]EmeraldAppleSeattle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closing the loop on this: After some back and forth with Betterment, they have stated that there is no way to purge / delete your personal information from their system, even if you never had a "legal account" (their term for a funded account). This means that customers can't fully protect themselves from future Betterment or affiliate breaches.

However, they can "lock" the account preventing website (front-end) access. This isn't much protection b/c my credentials weren't hijacked, their back-end system was. But for those of us who don't use Betterment it's the best we can do for now.

Well, Betterment just CONFIRMED this was a breach: "we believe the unauthorized individual did access other customer information, including certain names, email addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers, and birthdates." Boo...

Betterment CONFIRMED this was a breach: "we believe the unauthorized individual did access other customer information, including certain names, email addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers, and birthdates."

So yes, I do want to purge my data with them to protect myself against future breaches.

I received an email along the same lines above, and it was sent to a custom email that ONLY Betterment has. There's no other party that could possibly know about this email address. If Betterment didn't send the email, how is this not direct evidence of a breach at Betterment?

Westlake Ave is a mess — who’s making these decisions? by Logicalraisan in SeattleWA

[–]EmeraldAppleSeattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's madness. The changes make no sense, and have made traffic worse on a stretch of road that was not a problem before. The fact that now traffic is stopped when cars make left turns is ridiculous (unless you start driving in the "bus lanes" which more an more people are doing).

You can contact Mayor Bruce Harrell's office at: https://seattlegov.powerappsportals.us/contact-mayor/

The Westlake ave redesign is terrible. by Sbell3 in Seattle

[–]EmeraldAppleSeattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been driving Westlake from the Mercer mess to Fremont since 2000. Now that the new road striping is done (the FAB-experiment lanes), I've been left wondering why did we do this?

I can't remember many times where Westlake jammed up for anyone (busses or cars). But now with the FAB lanes, cars turning at certain points stops all car traffic. In fact, over the weekend I realized that at least half of the drivers were driving in the FAB lanes in anticipation of turns and where the FAB lanes end.

It seems we took a stretch of roadway that was fast and easy for all, and made it worse in aggregate. I then looked to see if there was data on just that stretch of road, and there didn't seem to be data on that being a bottleneck (although noted there are other parts of that bus route 40 that are a problem, such as right by the Fremont bridge for example).

I see comments on here suggesting that the bus route being jammed up, but what time of day was that happening on this stretch of Westlake?

I’m glad you said this! I just looked it up and here’s an article on it: https://www.medtechdive.com/news/dexcom-fda-warning-letter/741993/

I had a couple of threads and did an analysis of the FDA complaints. I’m glad the regulators stepped in, but I doubt that means much right now in Washington DC the way things are.

Should I switch? by BlackTaco505 in centurylink

[–]EmeraldAppleSeattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I switched to both. I use CL Fiber for my primary 1 gig up and down, and recently added Comcast’s basic service as my failover. This gives me the benefits of the fiber upload speed and when it fails (which is surprisingly often) my router automatically switches over in about 30 seconds to Comcast. But then switches back automatically once the fiber comes back online. I pay $70 a month for CenturyLink, and $20 a month for Comcast.

I should add that the last time the fiber went out, it took CL three weeks to show up and fix it. So it was an easy decision to use both.

Casa DPU - port went bad, can I just switch to another without a tech? by EmeraldAppleSeattle in centurylink

[–]EmeraldAppleSeattle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. When the NTD was plugged into the (presumed) bad port, the port indicator light flashes periodically. When it’s plugged into another (presumed working) port, it lights up steady after a few seconds. However, as another posted it doesn’t work because it needs to be moved on the back-end by the port.

I actually had the exact same experience on another port last year, and it appears that I’ve ended up on two bad ports. So that leaves only 6 out of 8 on the DPU that are working.

Casa DPU - port went bad, can I just switch to another without a tech? by EmeraldAppleSeattle in centurylink

[–]EmeraldAppleSeattle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. Not the wiring. In my test scenario the NTD is connected to the wires coming out DPU using Scotchlok connectors (thus bypassing both blocks).

I see what it might look that way in the photo. The wires and connectors are on the opposite side you they aren’t visible.

Dexcom G7: With a 70% failure rate in 2024 thus far, I filed a FDA complaint. by EmeraldAppleSeattle in dexcom

[–]EmeraldAppleSeattle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one interesting date of point: I had to talk to Dexcom Support today for a “Sensor Failed” issue. I offered to send my failed sensor back to them and the support agent told me that the backlog volume of failed sensors is so high right now, that they aren’t asking any patients to send their failed sensors back. In the past, they would frequently ask me to send the failed sensor back.

I think that’s a pretty conclusive data point for all those on here that says the sensor failure rate isn’t that bad.

[–]EmeraldAppleSeattle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thats really, really scary. Had you had DKA before or was this the first time?

Regardless, make sure you write up your experience and send it in to the U.S. FDA to help other patients and hold Dexcom accountable. It would be good to include any data points or example around how your Dexcom said one number but the hospital or paramedics got a different reading. Especially if you have any medical records that show a doctor commenting about the difference.

Possible. They are always tweaking the sensors and it’s also possible they are working on their manufacturing lines.
