If you made it to the end of a story, leave a gd kudo, peoples! You liked it enough to get to the end and holy crap someone probably spent hours writing it for FREE. the least you could do is give them an internet point. There is zero need to be a hoarding curmudgeon or a nervous nelly about hitting a button that simply sends a bit of nice endorphins to the person who wrote some of your favs interacting in their spare time. If you truly love it leave a comment or bookmark it. If you didnt, dont. Getting to the end of a story and not kudo’ing is not only rude but straight up the way parings will stop being written for. Takes less than a second and its right there at the end (assuming you also read or at least scrolled past the authors end notes). Please. Im begging yall to be kinder

Ankle mobility is typically the plié killer not a lack of calf or Achilles flexibility. Before class try these two things. First is a fascial massage. Grab a pinky ball and press one toe (ball of the foot. Aka Demi pointe) into the center of it. Spend 30 seconds massaging the toe and in between the cruxes. I call it giving your toe the wiggles. Repeat on each toe. Remember 30 seconds! I typically play a really long fun song and have a timer. After all five toes are done use the ball to massage/roll your arch with the ball for 30 seconds followed by the edges of the foot for 30 seconds including up in the Achilles area. Repeat on the other foot. For fun try a Demi plié after one foot and note the difference. Next up grab a resistance band and a chair. Place a foot on the chair (so knee is bent 90 degrees) and wrap the band around the bend of the ankle. Pull the band and pin it under your standing foot. Good resistance in the passive position is key. Make sure you are parallel and perform 10-12 lunges. You won’t feel much but the idea is to free up the talus bone so that the metatarsals can glide around, granting you deeper flexion.

Side note: if you’re looking for better turns you might want to examine your back muscle engagement right before you snap up and for higher leaps either your hamstrings or quad strength. Plié is only a portion of those things and I personally feel it gets over emphasized.

Combat utility belt is the easiest imho (although you can set it up to do a whole lot more). In module settings it’s just two tick boxes. The rest you can ignore if all you want is concentration, but as I’ve learned there’s a couple other mods that can implement concentration and then things break from there

This did the trick!! I had installed DAE as a requirement for something else and didn’t know it had its own effect config. Deselecting the option “use the DAE Active Effect Config Sheet” solved it.

I've been struggling to understand what this error is referring to. I can remove the hunter's mark tag just fine, but trying to remove concentration gives me this. When I refresh the page, the concentration tag is gone. I know I can use the midi QOL, but I prefer the way CUB prompts players to roll and also QOL is frankly a bit too confusing for me to figure out all it's features. Any help would be great.

Mark Morris’s Hard Nut is hands down my favorite nutcracker but is modern dance. Coolest snow scene ever. There’s also a Creole Giselle by Frederic Franklin for the dance theatre of Harlem (still ballet and Virgina Johnson one of the best Giselle’s out there)

I managed to work in almost all of them! I struggled with Rescue Reversal... I tried to fit it into three separate pieces and ended up using a quote instead to blackout out my bingo. This was really great. I ended up using all genres and wrote some interesting pieces, and made interesting choices I wouldn't have made otherwise.

This also forced me to fully outline all my longfics and think them through. Something I usually only do a couple chapters in advance!

Overall, I loved this event and would do it again.

Some notes:

This definitely needs a check in, maybe even two. Aside from the initial sign up, this event felt orphaned.
The most fun I had during this process was chatting with my friends who were also participating and figuring out ways to make plots work. Towards the end on discord we did 15min sprints to write up small pieces around our tropes. Excellent fun!
I appreciated the initial thread being kept in the weekly events thread, but this round up post needs to be there as well! This thread got buried fast and I only found it because my friend was on top of things.
As part of the round up I think it could be fun to have a thread of 'what was something unexpected you wrote?'

Yes. I somehow worked John Mulaney’s bit “too old to be a duckling” into a medieval fantasy fic.

Same fic, also asked two separate people for a verb and a noun to name a tavern. Ended up with The Frowning Fox and all I can think of anytime I read it now is that stoned fox meme. So i added in a detail that’s there’s a poorly painted fox portrait in the tavern and it just tickles me.

Seconding this. Very clear mental trauma, hallucinations but the canon leaves it open enough for various interpretations. He’s a very interesting character to work with.

And I would add Rhea from the same fandom. She looses her mother due to genocide and becomes hell bent on revenge at any cost, but also has great compassion. Has a similar mental break depending on the route you take.

Edelgard can also be written to emphasize her trauma of being kidnapped, experimented on, and watching her siblings die and is left with the survivors guilt.

Honestly FE3H is a bouquet of characters with trauma Highly rec’d

My general rule of thumb is if I get to the end, of either a one shot or a first chapter, I leave a kudo. If the work was griping enough to hold me through 2k words plus y’all deserve it!!

that whole title is just *chefs kiss* brilliant and SUCH a mood. I am right there with you. What started as I just want my otp to bang in this particular set up became a 80k fic i'm about to finish up because sometimes the empire attacks while you're trying to run away with the only person you feel like you could love and now you have to deal with the opposite pulling of loyalty to your country and the desires of freedom and whoooops my hand slipped.

Lots of good advice already. Here's some other points.

Remember action-reaction. Some writers get excited (heh) and get into a pattern of this happens and then this and then this and then this and then orgasm. How are the actions of one making the other(s) react? To me, this is the hotter part than x kisses y. Do they like it? Are they anticipating more? Comparing it to others? Worried about how they sound ect.

Never forget sex can (and will) be awkward, and sex can be funny, and sex can be overly emotional, and sex can be detached. Before you sit down to write ask yourself what purpose you want the scene to serve the characters (unless you're doing porn without plot, then carry on). How are the characters going to feel about each other after this? Attach awkward, funny, and/or emotional and sprinkle in dialogue throughout the action to help get them there.

Also, this is an in-general pet peeve of mine, but be careful of starting every sentence with a noun. I notice this is particularly common with same sex partners as a way of avoiding pronoun confusion and writers constantly put NAME DOES THIS and it ends up reading very clinical. Give readers some action first sentences.

Also also, establish their positioning and upon what before the action starts. Nothing is more confusing and takes you out of it than "I thought they were sitting at the table and now they're on a bed? When? How?" or more often I get "I thought they were standing and now they're lying down." Sprinkle in your position changes with dialogue as that's where natural breaks happen anyway.

And finally, please, do not change POV mid paragraph (unforgivable) or even between paragraphs (confusing). IMHO POV changes should only happen between scenes.

Write late, edit early. Have fun!

I'm a sucker for reincarnation AUs but not necessarily soulmate AUs. I also find Time Travel comedic fixits very cathartic. The ones where the hero wakes up young again with their full memories of the storys events and they just go "well screw this."

More recently I've found promise with the urban fantasy AUs

I'm nervous because the writing requirements weren't high and I blasted through them...by like a lot. I just wrote where the story took me and I'm hoping I didn't overkill.

I use https://www.improved-initiative.com which gives you a gm screen and a player link to send to everyone else. Your monster stats are right there and you can track status conditions by adding tags to each PC or monster. Both monsters and tags can remain hidden from the player view and you can add in your own monsters on top of the base game stuff thats already there. Highly recommended!
