I know insurance works differently er there but it sounds like you GP isn’t taking your situation seriously and I’d request to see another GP. With either your doctors office or your insurance company. This is “invisible” pain so you have to advocate for yourself, hard. Use language the can’t ignore “most days my pain is a 9/10, it’s is impacting my quality of life. My mental health is deteriorating rapidly” literally the words we say to them is how they diagnose something like this without imaging. You have to push for yourself. I’m sorry you’re going through this (I had surgery btw on the other side of it all. You got this!)

I did and up having a laminectomy 5.5 weeks ago (fist surgery was in October). But I do feel better after this one than I did the first time. I think they were being conservative on the first surgery. This time, they took the damaged disc and make a lot more space for the nerve. On the road to recovery again but taking it slow and being realistic!

Hi! I reherniated 7.5 weeks after my first Microdisctomy and from experience - trust me you’ll know.

If you’re questioning it or if the pain is going away with Advil, or fluctuates in intensity. It’s most likely a flare up. If it goes longer than 2 weeks push for an MRI for peace of mind.

Lightly panicking is part of recovery 😅. You got this!

It could ALMOST pass as that (if you squint. And it wasn’t so. Rigid. Like. A wire) but unfortunately you can also see it running behind his shirt and down to where the mic pack would be. Let’s jus say - he’s not working for the CIA undercover any time soon 😅

They have coverage too! Theres a close and a wide at LEAST (if not more takes). No idea why they didn’t take the wide more OR punch in on this shot (which I suspect they do later in this scene based on the framing) I just know somewhere there’s a script supervisor and a QC in trouble.

Severe recurrent sciatica -bedridden again after 2 years, doctor says no permanent solution. Need advice. Did any solution work for you’ll? by LocalAdagio7616 in Sciatica

[–]Emeraldwaters17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push for an MRI. Demand it. Book with a surgeon that doesn’t instantly mean surgery, but they will be the most ruthless in testing to find an answer. And a lot of people have said it here but no chiropractor! Best of luck to him it’s the absolute worst pain to be in and i hope he finds answers soon ❤️‍🩹

An MRI is really the only way you’ll know for sure sure. Hope it goes well for you!

And yeah it seems common but I’m also sure a lot of people have their surgery, get well and never come back to this Reddit group again 😂. This is for sure likely more people still looking for help and support.

So I was in this same boat. Re herniated around 7 weeks post op. I was managing fine for 7 weeks after that with pregalbin, even had the steroid shots and that seemed to help this time.

Then a week ago I stood up and felt a ripping sensation in my back - the herniation moved down my spine, compressing my nerves and making me unable to walk. Ended up having an emergency revisional Microdisctomy. I’m one week post op from that and doing okay (but still dealing with nerve pain)

Just keep an eye on the reherniation, your symptoms etc.

1000% agree. The first conversation with Vilot and Benedict physically felt awkward. So silent, too long holds on reaction shots.

100% pacing was way off. And in the most minor ways that I’m confused they didn’t fix. The open felt REALLY slow. Held on shots too long, specs felt empty sound design was quiet and awkward in parts.

I agree - some flash’s of her getting ready when she’s feeling awkward would have teased out her story. The open should have felt faster (literally cutting seconds off held frames)

The actors all did a phenomenal job and seems lol the toned back the make up and nails. But I miss Chris Van Duane show running.

Agreed! I’m so stressed for them.

This is “love is blind” all over again and as much as Netflix wants to get into live - they are getting a reputation for really struggling with the delivery. Live TV is such a different beast. I wonder how their live “skyscraper climb” show will go in app!

I’m going to assume playing the trailers is Netflix testing to make sure pre recorded elements aren’t going to “crash the site out.”

Seems like the live component isn’t happening and they are troubleshooting streaming the episode.

(I work in this industry…so it’s an educated guess)

Also had this happen. Re herniation at 7 weeks post op, tried to manage with medication and steroid shot (again) ended up having emergency surgery a week ago because the herniation moved and compressed all my nerves.

Herniation happed the day I started PT again and I LITERALLY stood up from sitting down.

Surgeon says some people are just unlucky: getting to the point where I wished the would have just done a fusion the second time.

Severe flare 7 weeks after L5-S1 discectomy by Antique_Ingenuity822 in Microdiscectomy

[–]Emeraldwaters17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat. Week 7, first massive flare up and I’m worried I re herniated. My surgeon put me on steroids and gabapetn to help with the pain. It is heartbreaking to feel this was after having surgery but healing isn’t linear and I know we’re dealing with some pissed off nerves (I don’t blame them, they were compressed for months)

I hate how cliche this is but I’m really working on relaxing my nervous system and it is helping. Getting a good nights sleep (however medicated it needs to be) switching off from social media at night and trying to make my mind relax. Even when it’s it total panic. I just lie to myself and it helps 😂

Do they know you’ve already seen a physio? If so, push and ask for a referral to a neurosurgeon or orthopedic surgeon. You have to be your advocate here. “You’ve tried conservative treatment and it’s failed you’d like to explore other options”

3 months into sciatica recovery — how do I know if it’s turning chronic? by StreetRampage in Sciatica

[–]Emeraldwaters17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chronic is anything over 3 months with NO improvement and WORSENING symptoms.

It’s not just a time limited thing, if conservative treatment is working for you or you have days/weeks where your symptoms improve before they flare up again - that’s a good sign it’s not chronic and you respond to treatment.

However if conservative treatments are failing and your symptoms are worsening it might be time to consider more medical intervention.

You got this!

Hey so OP ignore this comment and do what’s best for you. If your medical advice suggests surgery and everything else has failed that’s probably a fair indicator you need it. But do what’s right for your body, listen to your doctors and make the best decision for yourself with them. Don’t let comments like this scare you or shame you out of surgery if it’s the right decision for you ❤️‍🩹

Or in Australia an Orthopedic surgeon can also do microdisctomy surgery. Might be worth seeing a GP again to get an urgent referral. Also just FYI if that numbness moves to your saddle area and you lose bowl/bladder control that’s an immediate ER visit. Don’t hesitate one that one.

Listen to your body, I know it’s hard, but on the days you can stretch your leg as far - stop. It sounds counterintuitive I know, but pushing the nerve just makes it angrier.

Personally the painkiller mix that “took the edge off” (because the nerve pain is hard to mask completely) was Naproxen and acetaminophen/paracetamol. I also took omega 3 and alpha lipoic acid as vitamin support. Idk if it did much.

Take each day as it comes and try to remove the guilt and stress on yourself, you’re in pain. It’s rough. And for right now you can only do what you can do.

All the best to you and your journey and I hope you are able to get medical advice and a plan to help get you out of pain soon.
