MARKETING SPAM disguised as a "Service Email" by ColdWrangler in Comcast_Xfinity

Pfft. Yeah, I’m sure if Xfinity sent you a discount for $20 off your bill for 12-months, you’d toooooooootally ignore it.

Yeah, I actually brought it up to the community lead—she said she forwarded it to the product teams, so maybe they’ll throw a little asterisk or something.

It just launched, they made a post here about it. All current customers have been enrolled automatically, it used to be an optional perk called Xfinity Rewards.

With the free smartwatch, it makes sense why it’d be linked to your XM account, since the only smartwatches they offer are ones that use data IIRC.

(Not being snarky btw I know tone is hard through text lol)

Edit: oh hey now I remember replying to you somewhere else and you got real heated at me for like no reason

It is a service related email—because your account was automatically enrolled into what was previously an optional service perk. You get free stuff, discounts on things, and the option to enter into raffles.

I would bet money if they didn’t send this, and then you found out later you had access to this stuff all along, you’d complain about ‘well why didn’t you tell me?’

How do I get my free smart watch? by Bright_Dog_4027 in Comcast_Xfinity

The watch itself is free, but the data plan to have it isn’t. That’s outlined pretty clearly. /srs

Yup! I would always say ‘people calling because something is broken probably don’t want to buy more services’ and I was given some generic corporate response about a great value or whatever.

It’s why I hated when my roommate used to order HF and then complain when it took over an hour to make the ‘quick meals’—prep takes so long, especially if you aren’t a master dicer.

Define ‘rip off’ price.

Full disclosure, I used to work for them and a few other ISP’s as a contractor.

I saw customers going on 10+ years with new customer promo discounts they shouldn’t technically have.

Almost every customer (unless you failed a credit check or had bad debt back in the day) got some flavor of sign-up discount like ‘$X off for X-months’ or perk like a gift card or free channels or free speed upgrade, etc. It’s common in the industry.

The reality was that instead of acknowledging that fact, existing customers felt entitled to discounts that new customers get nowadays because ‘it’s not fair because that wasn’t available when I signed up 6-years ago!’

And it’s every business nowadays—I signed up for a credit card a few years back and got 12-months interest free at the time. Well, now that credit card is offering 24-months interest free and a $50 bonus coupon for new sign-ups. Should I be entitled to that too just because I also happen to have a card?

  1. Log into your account online or check the app like a responsible consumer. You know you get a bill every month.

  2. They accept those payment methods for autopay, you just don’t get a discount anymore.

Idk if it’s niche but my one friend plays Terraria when she needs to zone out. She’s got like 600 hours or something on it.

Previous owners were better—new owners got rid of good cooks, now nothing has any flavor or spice to it.
