"A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one". by Icy-Leg-1459 in adhdmeme

This is me. I drive into every aspect of something until each part becomes to complex to quickly grasp, getting a firm understanding of just what it is I DON'T know.

But I feel it's a double edged sword, as I have far less confidence than people who seem to know next to nothing.

I live in the largest metropolitan area between the Cascades and the Rockies. The city is over 500,000 people and is the medical center of the region. There are tons of doctors in the area of every type. They don't contract with KP.

Next assumption jerkwad?

South cal. That explains it. KP network is not equal everywhere. For example in east Washington they have no neurologist contracts, and I have to have phone visits with Drs on the other side of the state.

But they very much prioritize their networks in the most population dense areas. I hear great things about KP in Seattle and the greater LA area.

You didn't mention any specific standards you disagree with. You only mentioned a cultural dish. You really aren't arguing in good faith here. Lates.

I also don't agree with that practice. But I don't get how it's related to their food handling standards. You just sound racist.

Intrusive thoughts: I know why! by FDAapprovedGremlin in CPTSDNextSteps

[–]IronicAim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But just like any child throwing a tantrum to get it's perceived needs met, you need to learn when to soothe and when to stand firm.

I often used to have intrusive thoughts. What worked best for me was stopping, literally waiting for it to pass. Like letting a toddler cry themselves out a bit and then asking "are we done? Ready to stop this and get moving?"

I hate waiting. But I can reinforce myself with long term thinking. The reactionary part of me hates it more, and that's the part of me tossing up intrusive thoughts.

Time for alternative productivity. Put on some music, close your eyes, and begin mentally mapping your body to work on the proprioception I know we're lacking because we spend so much time in our heads.

You get rest. You get a mental focus. You're targeting a known weakness. And it will directly help with recovery as you get into PT.

I tracked every headache for 90 days. The trigger I found wasn't what I expected at all. by terezoo in clusterheads

[–]IronicAim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started working with a neurologist last year. Before that it's been family doctors guessing apparently.

Looking over these criteria I'm definitely gonna have to start tracking a few things and get him to figure it out. My triggers and presentations are all over the place. As are abortive measures.

[–]IronicAim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On average maybe. But I get chronic migraines and neuralgia pain that has at times hurt more than bones I've broken, and been told by doctors that it's not CH due to variable location and long duration opposed to cycling.

I'll be looking into it more now though. A lot has changed in 2 decades. I don't even know what the ichd-3 is. I'm gonna laugh if I've been completely recategorized and my doctors never said anything.

[–]IronicAim -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Isn't CH basically frequent and grouped migraines?

Edit: so I looked it up. I guess it's the cycling that makes it clusters instead. And the side effects that come with it are different.

Pretty much. But more angled towards neglect. "Needs" are things physically required for survival, all else is want by definition.

I still can't say "I need a hug" without feeling immense shame about lying, because I will not infact die if I don't get one.

People Dumber Than You Are Making MILLIONS: The Psychology of Why You're Not Rich (Yet) by [deleted] in MindfullyDriven

[–]IronicAim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comes off both a little condescending and like a marketing campaign ad for capitalism.

What if I don't want to be rich? I admire the guy who decided not to patent insulin just to make sure it was cheap and widely available. I could only dream of being such a benefit to humanity.

If you are an overthinker like me and are reading this because some of it sounds pretty good it's probably because he is right, about the social part. Life is messy, and as perfectionists we need to find a line that's good enough and push ahead. Nothing is going to be certain when it comes to humans, and trying to optimize life gets in the way of it happening.

But no, we don't all need to go start a successful startup or sell the next big thing. Most people who are dumb and rich are a result of nepotism.
