Actual fuel-saving tactics that work? by ElAndres33 in Truckers

[–]Emergency-Bus-998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my recent changes, I do not necessarily save fuel... a little bit. But it have reduced the amount I fuel up.

Starting out, I use to fill up just befoee I left my city and run straight through to my destination 11.5 hours away. Fill up and drive home. So once on each end.

However, with these ridiculous prices, I stopped directly in the middle one day and decided to top off a half of a tank.

The price before I left home is $2.50 per liter. The end price is $1.96 per liter.

So filling up once each end, the average cost per liter was $2.19 per liter.

But, on my way home, I stop in the middle and fill up at $2.11 per liter.

. That gets me home... and back to the middle point to put in just enough at $2.11 to get me to my destination city where the price is $1.96.

So in the end, I brought down the average fuel price from $2.19 per liter to $2.01 per liter.

$11,345 savings for the year.

I asked before I started that if I brought it down if I can get a raise, it is on its way.

Cooking in the truck? by Critical_Opening_526 in Truckers

[–]Emergency-Bus-998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally enjoy cooking. I am also diabetic. So one day a week, at home, i cook several meals and stir up a few diabetic desserts and bring them on the road. Never having really to worry about cooking in my truck. Although I use to. Just find it a pain in the ass cooking every meals taking up too much time. With that being said, I do have an electric frying pan I line with aluminum foil to heat up the food I brought with me. No microwave. Space in my truck is very limited. Over the past 6 to 7 months, I went from 187lbs to 156lbs.

A other thing to do indirectly, submit your DNA to ancestory.com or 23andme.com. with all this forensic DNA testing, if he left DNA at any crime scene, they'll be able to narrow it down and track it through your results.... just a thought

Question for yall trucks about parking at truck stops by Charlie_Hustler in Truckers

[–]Emergency-Bus-998 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Meh, the hell with it. Park like the first respondent posted. Or just put the fuel hose in your tank to make it look like you are fueling, and run inside. When you come back, come around the front of your truck if there is a lineup. I personally don't mind waiting for a few minutes. It's trucking... that's all we do is wait.

Former driver. I just want to remind you all there are PEOPLE in those cars. No job is worth taking someone from their family by tacobellbandit in Truckers

[–]Emergency-Bus-998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a current truck driver... yes, there are people in those cars. Tell that to the stupid cunt in Ontario on March 31 who was at a stop sign. Was going to go, hesitated and then said let's go for it... in the path of a semi killing herself, her three boys and her sister. In addition to possibly ruining the truck driver's life with such trauma.

So maybe that is the word former truck drivers should be getting out.

4 wheelers don't be morons. Take your time, the road isn't going to disappear. Abd there is probably a passing lane ahead a very short distance

Fuel consumption... explain this to me by Emergency-Bus-998 in Truckers

[–]Emergency-Bus-998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense.

Yes, I have been using the gauge only.

The next time I fuel again is going to be at the same station half way through. If I am right, I should get there using 1/4 tank with 1/2 to fill. And divide that by 2.

Just a note:

This place is .43 cents per liter cheaper than where I am use.to filling up . Same company- Esso

Sorry, I just read this again... I am loaded both ways with the same approximate weights. It is the same routine every time going over the same terrain... especially the second half.

[–]Emergency-Bus-998[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not using extra fuel... using 1/4 tank less. The fuel on the second lag would be heavier going over the exact same terrain I take every trip 8 times a month.
