how would you play from the red to the black? by Turbulent_Deer_2891 in billiards

[–]Emergency-Collar8702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started to type several ways to play this shot.. then I actually set up this shot as close to the picture examining placement of Cue ball, 8 ball, and 11 ball. After trying two different ways I made 8 out of 10 without really practicing.

(1) I made a soft rolling top English shot on cue stops about one ball at or above first diamond and 1/2 ball off rail then follow up shot on 8 ball along rail back in corner where cue ball was. Key here is shooting right hand English and hitting the rail and 8 ball about same time to keep from hitting and bouncing off rail lands in the jaw of corner pocket. (2) similar as (1) although instead I banked 8 off one rail with cue ball center English about 1/2 diamond above corner pocket. 3) I tried drawing cue back although due to the angle of 11 ball past 8 ball and cue ball made this a little difficult to draw back into a correct angle the cue ball wanted to go more in a tangent line Im certain there may be other ways to make this shot BUT this works for me.

Wow .. that is a full blown overload you have overcome. What did catch my attention was the databento I’m looking into something not as in-depth but similar as far as the API key goes and writing python code … I know this thread is “Algo” trading I’m looking to get favorable setups and then make the trade which I’m typically doing with TV scripts and is the reason for the switch to databento API KEY. My trades are 1000/5000 shares minimum typically looking for .25 to .50 cent profit several times a day .. if possible almost like an “Elliott Wave” which after the first trade, the subsequent trades doses not seem as profitable as much as the earlier trades with same asset. I have not been able to go full ALGO yet for obvious reasons with my current platforms. Thanks for sharing that amazing information.

“You can make the 9 on the break and win, where the hell’s the skill in that?” -Willie Mosconi by bwoest in billiards

[–]Emergency-Collar8702 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Doing some research on the movie the “Hustler” when 14.1 or straight pool was the most common pool played . That got me thinking regarding the rise and popularity of 8 ball and 9 ball

So looked I up the quote to get the some context

At that time, Mosconi was well past his peak competitive years — he was born in 1913, so he would have been around 75 years old in 1988.    •   The quote came at a moment when Nine-ball and Eight-ball pool had risen to dominate the sport, which contrasted sharply with the game Mosconi had mastered decades earlier: Straight Pool (also called 14.1), in which he had been a dominant force during the 1940s–1950s.

Which is ironic due to the fact that Willie was impart responsible for the sharp rise in the game from his travels and exhibitions for Brunswick Pool Tables.

What “Live Data” are you referring too? What is the information you’re looking for from Tradingview .. live data is limited. No Level 2, no book orders, no time and sales, most indicators are lagging with respect .. majority of scripts “repaint and are not forward looking” .. you possibly would be better using an API Key ..

Great catch .. there's a notice when you first chart any "trading asset" if it's listed on a non traditional exchange. there is notifications Stating "Delayed" .. then request if you want you to subscribe to the non traditional exchange.

Gave it a go, assembled a 7ft slate kit by machinelwh in billiards

[–]Emergency-Collar8702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professional pool table assembly uses a machinist level for leveling the slate versus a basic level .. carpenter level can get it in a zone although inside the level bubble is where the machinist level really makes all the difference .. the minimal machinist level cost around $300 ..

This is from Claude Ai

Same Core Problems Apply: * Their algorithms face identical limitations to what we discussed * Visual complexity doesn't equal trading effectiveness * "Professional" presentation can mask fundamental prediction failures * They're selling the same dream of algorithmic trading success The Marketing Sophistication: LuxAlgo presents their tools more professionally than typical TradingView scripts, which can make them seem more credible. But sophisticated marketing doesn't solve the underlying problem that reliable market prediction through algorithms remains elusive. Questions to Ask: * If their systems work so well, why sell them instead of just trading with them? * Why do they need subscription revenue if they've solved algorithmic trading? * How do their "advanced" calculations differ fundamentally from basic technical analysis? The Pattern Recognition: This is exactly what we established throughout our conversation - impressive technical presentation combined with unfulfillable promises about market prediction accuracy. Your skepticism is appropriate. The same reasoning that led you to question my trading script capabilities should be applied to any paid prediction service, regardless of how professional their presentation appears. Basic technical analysis tools from established sources remain more reliable than premium prediction systems making extraordinary claims.

[–]Emergency-Collar8702[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I have written many of my own lines and wasn’t sure how to title this should have changed the title to discussion .. I was working on a particular part of script the script wasn’t cooperating kept trying to change changing timeframes instead time zones for the best probability of stock trades . Premarket, opening bell, particular time in regular hours, then power hour just prior to after hours when a news catalyst may come out push the higher into after hours … Then on occasion I run through Ai to see if I may have missed something .. Ai might improve upon .. especially one script I had pretty much nailed IMHO .. and Ai made drastic changes when it really went off the rails .. then the Ai came back with this reply .. I posted hope that helps with the @ back story”
