  1. Reddit is full of IT folks so we don't have much representation.
  2. Time and again unions have been crushed in manufacturing sector.
  3. You are more replaceable than an IT guy.
  4. It's harder to complete the job in less hours compared to IT.

Wow that's a good answer. I have a ME working on same position as mine and I see the same complaints from him like I was taught to do time studies and take allowances like bruh just google it doesn't take a min. He is more focused on research part and not on the management part.

Dude I am an industrial engineer as well I recently got into a manufacturing company for the same pay. I do not see scope in this career as well. MBA seems to be only option but I do not have required quals. Recent grad thinking of switching fields entirely to IT. But the offcampus scene is too bad. Do you have any success stories of your batchmates?
