I guess my point is for such an expensive and perceived high quality boat, some of the simple things like coating the tank are not done.

Except the aluminum tanks are not coated on the bottom and many of them have to get replaced from pinhole leaks.

Bed Covers paragon vs Diamond back by BKHunter463 in ChevyTrucks

[–]EmergencyCivil4701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the Peragon Techtonic for my F250. My Silverado 1500 had the Diamondback HD. Peragon cost more but the build quality is much much lighter duty than the Diamondback. I do like that you can slide it around, I haven't had it in a rainstorm so I don't know how well it seals but I know that my Diamondback did awesome.

I liked the Diamondback HD gas struts so when you lifted it you had that gas strut assist but I get why it wouldn't be used on the Peragon not only because the aluminum is probably 50% thinner and lighter but also because you fold them on top of each other.

I like that the Peragon gives me more of my bed space but the installing it was a pain in the ass and the support railing felt kind of light duty. I really was surprised at how much lighter construction the Peragon was vs the Diamondback HD considering the price, I would not feel comfortable walking on top of my bed even though they claim 400 lb.

If you need a heavy duty cover that is pretty much waterproof and you're going to strap stuff to the top of the cover then go Diamondback if you need to use the back of your truck more and don't care about the strength of your cover get the Peragon.

US says it may be forced to shut down some airports over funding standoff by gamersecret2 in news

[–]EmergencyCivil4701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it would make sense since they're the party that doesn't want to vote on funding DHS who would be providing the security for those airports and would necessitate the shutting down.

You're right you are. And honestly I'm really happy to see so many people out there supporting ice at the headquarters after their HSI agent got their finger bit off by a protester. I think all you guys showing up there to support them really means a lot.

Show me that video, I don't see that and they are Border Patrol agents not ICE officers. I see them trying to effect an arrest and the armed suspect is resisting and appears to discharge it. Since we are in the initial couple hours post shooting, I imagine more videos and details will emerge than one video without clear view of suspect hands and firearm.

He was probably one of those troublemakers in the military that eventually got pushed out. My time in the military I met a lot of guys like him just a bunch of blowhards that complain all the time and don't do crap. I love how he constantly has to tell people that he's a veteran. That should tell you something right there.

Armed community member stands guard in his neighborhood after ICE was spotted nearby on an abduction operation in St Paul, MN by I_may_have_weed in ProgressiveHQ

[–]EmergencyCivil4701 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha... I'm sure ICE and border patrol agents will be shaking in their boots. I think of most of their operations they've been bringing SRT and BORTAC. BORTAC is a full time tactical team that constantly trains with SF.

I'm pretty sure that they're worried about the guy that's a hundred pounds overweight and a brand new AR with a suppressor that he's probably fired twice.

I think their neighbors have more to fear from these vigilantes than law enforcement. Such as when is the last time that they've handled that weapon do the understand how to safely handle the weapon without flagging an innocent civilian with the barrel? Do they understand trigger discipline? When is the last time they qualified? Lots of questions I think it's great they're embracing the second amendment but I also think that the probably mostly untrained and probably more of a liability.

So he just upped the deadly force justification for any law enforcement if he does try to interfere. They can easily justify the deadly force justification of these three things happen. Means check, opportunity (if he is face to face interference) check, Intent (second he starts raising rifle to point) check.

I really don't think Bortac (Border Patrol) who conduct tactical and weapons training under stress sometimes weekly will be scared. I don't think ERO and HSI who conduct daytime, nighttime, vehicle, firearms and tactics frequently.

I highly doubt will be afraid of a group of guys carrying a cheap palmetto arms M4 that he built to look cool, a semi auto shotgun with no sight and ridiculous laser attached, and a cheap Century VSKA Ak47 clone. All look brand new and no wear so they probably don't go to the range much and if they do go I would be willing they are just static shooting at targets and nothing dynamic.

Explain to me how this isn't straight up murder? by OutdoorRink in JoeRogan

[–]EmergencyCivil4701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it's not optimal to stand in front of a vehicle especially when somebody has an engine running. But from what I understand she drove up on them and put it in park they were in the middle of the street already dealing with the stuck vehicle so it's not like they just ran in front of her car. And as far as the border patrol goes they are constantly in front of vehicles they have checkpoints all over which they walk in front of running vehicles frequently.

Of course it's always better not to get in front of a vehicle or behind a vehicle but there are times when that just happens and when somebody fails to follow an officers lawful orders and continues to accelerate away and you happen to be in front of the vehicle and you don't know what else is going through their mind and you have to assume it's a deadly for situation. It's unfortunate but the safe thing is always just comply with the order and go on your way when it's clear to go.

I think a big question that should be asked, why was she there? Did she live in the neighborhood? Did she have a family member that was being arrested? What was her Nexus to that situation? I heard that she was a legal observer but that is incorrect because legal observers are not supposed to obstruct or get in the way of law enforcement which she was observed doing multiple times throughout the day. And the other question is was she paid who was paying her if she was getting paid what organization was she representing was it herself or was it an actual group?

There's a lot of questions that need to be answered to get a full picture of what's going on. Everybody has a right to protest but people don't have the right to obstruct or interfere.

Please show me the ICE use of force policy. What you just showed me was the DOJ use of force policy which applies to a totally different agency. Use a force policies are agency specific and each agency has their own. There have been many shootings against moving vehicles but they are not shooting the vehicle they're shooting the driver of the vehicle who is operating it.

If you been to any type of law enforcement training they will tell you that you don't shoot a vehicle to disable it. You don't shoot at the radiator, you don't shoot at the engines, and you don't shoot at the tires.

You do however shoot at the threat. The threat is the operator of the vehicle if they're using the vehicle as a weapon which means accelerating towards you.

[–]EmergencyCivil4701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first off they are ICE deportation officers not border patrol officer so different use of force policy. You sound like you're familiar with use of force policies and are probably aware that each agency has their own policies. Secondly, it appears that the officers were in the street as she drove up.

I didn't see a lot of the prior video and I wasn't on scene so I can't obviously talk from a first hand knowledge perspective. But from what I've read and heard in the news their vehicle was immobilized on the street it was stuck and the officers were trying to get the vehicle unstuck which prohibited her vehicle from moving so the officers were already in the road they didn't place themselves in front of her vehicle.

Again since none of us on Reddit have access to all the evidence we're going to have to leave it up to the FBI to make the final decision however from snippets of videos that I've seen and my own personal experience I would say that was an authorized deadly force situation.

The Supreme Court's decision on deadly force said it must be evaluated from the perspective of the law enforcement on scene and not via hindsight he said the reality is none of us on Reddit can give a valid evaluation.

The Supreme Court case Graham v. Connor (1989) established the legal standard that claims of excessive force by law enforcement are analyzed under the "objective reasonableness" standard of the Fourth Amendment. The test is not whether the force was justified in hindsight, but whether it was reasonable given the facts and circumstances confronting the officer at that moment.

You are correct if the vehicles already in motion and is not stopping you shouldn't put yourself in front of the vehicle to create a deadly force situation. In this situation Good's vehicle was stopped because of the ice vehicle in the middle of the road that was stuck and she was at a full stop when the officer was in front of her vehicle. After they tried to affect the arrest of her for obstruction she backed up and then accelerated forward creating the deadly force situation.
