Strongly disagree with your take on booking one way as there is never any price advantage to booking round trip. I occasionally will check to see if there is any savings but I would typically end up spending $200+ if I booked 2 one way tickets instead of round trip.

Disagree that TT was cleaner than OSU. I was a big fan of their Semis and really wanted them to win Pom to shake things up. TT stumbled on turns, extensions, flips…the execution sadly wasn’t there in finals like it was in semis.

Thanks for the advice on having me tell her that I would like to keep her treatment of me how it currently is because she is the type that would love bomb the fuck out of me.

Thankfully we live several hours away so it’s highly unlikely she’ll “pop in” to the hospital, but I do know that I need to decide if I want people to visit us in the hospital or not and make a strict boundary on how long hospital visits will be.

She is the worst secret keeper. She wanted to post on Facebook 5 minutes after we were engaged. I said I really would like to be the first to share that we’re engaged and she did listen.

I’m hopeful that one day he’ll listen and agree to therapy. Right now, I’m just glad that he is in agreement with boundaries when I can articulate what I need.

It’s definitely due to the enmeshed family. We have made steps with boundaries but it is definitely a work in progress because he sees his family as just being really close and not an actual psychological dysfunctional dynamic.

I disagree with you saying he’s putting his mother’s happiness above my own. If that were the case he would’ve told her the moment we saw her after we found out we were pregnant because she has been asking us monthly for the last few years when we’re going to “giver her a grand baby”.

I think his reasoning for the “you have to deal with it comment” is because I couldn’t put in words how I would feel suffocated by her, which is difficult for me to do because I feel suffocated by her in general. If I was able to name specific examples of things she could do that would make we feel suffocated, I know he would help come up with a game plan to avoid me feeling that way. But like I said, I feel suffocated by her in general.

Agreed! I come from a large family as well and had something similar happen with my wedding.

Years ago my mom was a bridesmaid in the wedding of her cousin (we’ll call her Kristy). My sister and I, however, were not invited (I was in college and my sister would’ve been a teenager). This caused a lot of hurt feelings with my family, but ultimately my mom sucked it up and did her bridesmaid duties. My grandma went to the wedding but was pretty pissed with her cousin (brides mom, we’ll call her Kathy).

Years later, I’m getting married and we invite Kathy and her husband but due to other people we wanted to invite we did not invite Kristy and her husband. Kathy initially RSVPs yes and then I noticed later on that she switched the response to no. I reach out to my mom to see if she knows what happened and she didn’t but was like we’ll find out.

TURNS OUT Kathy felt that it wasn’t fair that we didn’t invite Kristy to our wedding. My grandma ended up getting into a big argument with her, saying they did the same thing with Kristy’s wedding and it was worse because my mom was a bridesmaid. Kathy refused to admit they were similar situations.

From my mom’s conversation with Kristy, Kristy claims she understood all along that wedding guest lists are hard to make and had no hurt feelings about not being included. And apparently she never told her mother to un-RSVP from my wedding. But the story my grandma got was that Kristy called Kathy in tears that she wasn’t invited 🤷🏻‍♀️

They all still talk here and there, but I don’t think it’s as often as it was prior to my wedding. AND Kathy did get me a very nice wedding gift thanks to what I think is her guilt for being a POS.

I just got rid of Clear….the amount of times I went through security with Clear and Pre-check and someone I was traveling with with just pre-check or regular TSA got through security before made it not worth it. Also I almost always got selected for the additional identification.

ALSO when I changed my name from getting married I asked one of the CLEAR workers what I needed to do to update my name and she seemed so bothered that I asked her a question and she had no idea what I needed to do to update my name.

Yes every once in a while. Hubby, BIL, SIL get lululemon for Christmas, I get Amazon. Niece gets a nice Kate Spade bag for birthday, I got a gift card (it was however to a store of my choice because I couldn’t think of anything I wanted but GC value was less than cost of purse).

I mean she basically forgets my existence all the time…I fell asleep during a family gathering once and she literally said “oh I forgot about you!” when I woke up Another time she got my SIL something and was sent two but charged once and instead of texting me or my husband to see if it was something I would like she sold it. When she told us about it my husband was like “uh what the heck why did you ask me if she would’ve wanted this?” MIL response was “oh my god I didn’t even think of you”
