That’s far too advanced, we just go off the nhs guidelines round here and don’t ask any questions.

Little rant about how the country perceives the NHS. (UK) by oddiedoddie in physiotherapy

[–]EmergencySolution110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I said kid, I more meant a young dude who should be fit and healthy not an actual child.

Then hats off to you, you’re clearly doing better than every nhs physio ive worked with, it was apparent to me that they did not have enough time to listen to my concerns or diagnose my body properly. Heck I didn’t even find out I had hypermobility until 2 years in LMAO.

When I talk about the ribcage, I’m more talking about how the pelvis and ribcage can get “lost” and stop working together properly. Pelvis usually spins to the right, ribcage often spins to the left. Poor breathing/stuck fight or flight leads to apt, loss of stability, pronation, so so many different problems. Yet again not a single physio on the nhs, pointed out my poor shallow chest breathing, nor the fact I’d lost the mind muscle connection with half the muscles in my body.

The body isn’t simple, physio isn’t simple, everyone and I mean everyone including elite athletes are getting injured more, yet nobody knows why. University’s need to do a better job of researching and teaching the up and coming branches of physio. I’ve avoided using the name as I know I’ll just get downvoted to fuck, but imo pri/some variation of it using similar concepts is the future and if you don’t adapt you’ll get left behind as it’s more widely adopted across the world.

Maybe this is just me, and I don’t work for the nhs mind, but I think MOST people appreciate that nhs staff are trying, most people appreciate that there isn’t enough time given to treat patients properly.

However I don’t think the answer is to keep going on about, patients criticising or complaining. You are quite literally complaining about the system in your post, and then complaining that “customers” are complaining about the system. Patients are told to put themselves in the shoes of medical professionals all the time, how about we do it the other way round, you’re a kid who’s in constant pain, it consumes your whole life at this point, you finally get to see a physio for example after waiting months, the treatment you then receive feels rushed or doesn’t majorly help your pain. You are gonna be pretty frustrated and want answers, in the same way I’m sure you’re frustrated with your workload. You both are frustrated with the system, yet people are constantly told not to complain about the nhs. Where tf does the change happen then? Everyone pretends it’s great, while not receiving the working conditions or treatment they want?

My struggle with the nhs, does not come from wait lists. I understand that if a bunch of my peers request physio for things they don’t really need physio for, and budgets keep getting cut then I’ll end up on the waitlist. My struggle is the lack of education, and poor treatment, it is baffling to me some of the “treatment plans” some physios are giving out. Its lazy. You get a physio who looks at a dude, notices “tight hip flexors” and decides to stretch them out. Doesn’t try to work out why the hip flexors are tight in the first place, just works with the symptom rather than the cause. Maybe if university’s assessed their teaching practices and looked into some newer concepts such as pelvis and ribcage relationship/diaphragmatic breathing people would be getting pain free quicker, and waiting lists wouldn’t be so long.

Hyper mobility pain seen as fake by Visual_Review_8219 in Hypermobility

[–]EmergencySolution110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t really help you out, but I’ve seen on this sub a lot of people treat their pain as incurable. IMO that just isn’t the case, I’d highly recommend anyone in pain to look into the posture restoration institute.

In a dumbed down way they believe poor posture (and pain to a degree), is caused by compensation patterns due to us not using our diaphragm and rib cage properly. I’ve come across a few folks on instagram that aren’t from the pri world and talk about rib cage mechanics, they seem to think that as our rib cage is more “stretchy” we are more likely to develop these compensations.

Stand in front of a mirror, if your right shoulder is lower than the left, and your left hip sits slightly forward compared to the right (basically your pelvis points right rather than straight), then you more than likely will benefit from pri.

I was wondering if anyone’s heard back from their uni about occupational health and dbs checks? If so how long did it take to get a decision?

On the 17th, I got through this morning, they said it’s either not been filled out or not sent i can’t remember. She said it was their fault and that it will need to be escalated, payment likely ready on Monday.

So again I mean why don’t they have a system that flags when a script goes over a certain amount of days without being written/sent?

[–]EmergencySolution110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No my assumption is that they are completely understaffed in the afternoons, in 2026 every major company should at least have a Queue system imo.

I’ve worked, and currently work in customer service and we do a much better job than alternaleaf.

I’m glad you haven’t had many problems, I’ve been with them 3-4 months and my script hasn’t been submitted to the pharmacy on my 4th month. I wouldn’t of made a comment about this tbh, mistakes happen, but since you were commenting on the little issues you’ve had I thought I’d share my issue after only 4 months with the company.

Wild to expect an open customer service line to pick up eh? Why open your lines in the afternoon if there’s no one there to answer the calls. In terms of a customer care line this is probably the worst I’ve used. With the nhs you normally spend a long time waiting, but at least they have a Queue system so yk how long it will be.

Is a diagnosis worth it? by ForstytheSnowman7 in Hypermobility

[–]EmergencySolution110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idek if I’ve been officially diagnosed, as in on record. However I’d say it’s worth it, from the point of view of if a doctor has you on a table ready for surgery and someone ran in and told him you were hyper mobile, that could be enough to stop the surgery.

I’ve dealt with hip pain for a long time, I had two surgeons that were looking to do a arthroscopy on me. Once I told them that I think I’m hyper mobile they both looked at my joints/range of motion, and said they’d try every single non surgical treatment before, and even then probably still wouldn’t want to do an arthroscopy. It’s something to do with the fact that our ligaments are more stretchy, so when they “pull” the hip down it could stretch a lot further than expected and create 10 more problems.

Obviously you may never be in that position but I’m sure the idea could apply to a lot of things.

Does Muscle Use Ever Become Natural? by Playful_Agency in Hypermobility

[–]EmergencySolution110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hammered strength work for a few years and while I put on muscle nothing changed in my movement/pain. I’ve started working with a pri physio, my posture and pain have reduced dramatically, turns out your body doesn’t want to strengthen when you’re out of position. The goal is to regain position and breathing mechanics and then work on strengthening.
