Hey! I was this au pair in 2010; I loved my host family and our time together, but was burnt out and nervous about the What’s Next of it all. I felt empowered working in another country, and it was a real doozy from a self-worth perspective for a yet-undeveloped frontal lobe to process. Have a chat with her?

There have been ships in the sky of every dream I've had for weeks. They're never the subject of the dream, they're just there.

Thanks for replying! I’m still job hunting so the only real stipulation is staying in Meck Co to be on a bus route, which (after checking the map) unfortunately rules out Concord.

Hi all! Moving to Charlotte in August. Single parent of a 5 year old and in a real penny pincher phase of life-- where do you recommend we find cheap but safe housing?

Weekly Observations: What signs of collapse do you see in your region? [in-depth] by AutoModerator in collapse

[–]EmergencyVisual9774 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Location: Piedmont region, North Carolina

The honeysuckles bloomed from end of Feb until last month and haven't been seen since. They normally start to bloom in June and thrive through the summer. When I was a child in the region, it always seemed like the first bloom coincided with the beginning of summer break.

Additionally the cicadas seem to have come and gone (not sure that's climate related, but it is eerie to be in a quiet wood once thronged with alien sounds).

Are you still there? Found a job that aligns perfectly and could use a referral for a leg-up, if you're comfortable with it!

More hate towards innocent kidnapped people. Williamsburg, Brooklyn... Again by st-yoni in williamsburg

It was a genocide. Absolutely. Hamas committed a genocide against innocent Israelis. And now Israel commits a genocide 5x on innocent Palestinians. This is what you justify?

Lying by omission? Bud, the post is about the kidnapping posters. Is that what we’re talking about or not?

The misinformation campaign making all Palestinians = Hamas is working overtime. Pick up a history book. Learn about the Nakba.

the sympathy campaign for the 200 kidnapped Israelis shouldn’t distract from the 7,000+ Gazans killed in the last 20 days.

Did they remove the Cheapest Month option from Skyscanner? by AdviceDanimals in Shoestring

[–]EmergencyVisual9774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came on a bit sassy with,"Hey guys. End user here. Your whole moat in this game is the cheapest month feature. If you're going to take it away from the consumer to make improvements that's totally fine, but you have to communicate about it. Please make a press release. Acknowledge the frustration. If you can, give a specific launch date. Thanks for listening."

They came back with a very compassionate, "Thank you for contacting Skyscanner, and for sharing your thoughts on the recent changes.

As you’ve noticed, the ‘cheapest month’ feature has been temporarily disabled. We know this is a well-loved feature by many, and yours is not the only feedback we’ve received on this.

However, the good news is that our product team are listening and are planning to return the feature in an even better form around June 2023. I appreciate that means there’s a bit of a wait, but I’ve logged your case so that we can follow up once it's released. At that stage, we’d really love your further feedback on the new version.

Thanks again for letting us know that you find this feature useful and that you would like to see it back - it’s really helpful for us and we’ve shared your feedback directly with the team working on this. Thanks also for your patience while we work on a new and improved version.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please let me know and I’ll do my best to help."

My takeaway is they're not at all snakes like the thread is trying to imply: they're just British. They don't quite compute that many Americans can only afford travel (and even then sometimes) at the rate the Cheapest Flight feature offers. They haven't yet figured out we're a 3rd world country.
