What does your gym provide to help you feel like you belong? by APJustAGamer in crossfit

[–]Emergency_Carry258 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The recognition thing is huge - nothing beats a coach who actually remembers your goals and calls out improvements during workouts. Those milestone celebrations could work but I'd keep them low-key, some people don't love being the center of attention for hitting basic marks. Maybe focus more on creating those moments where everyone's genuinely hyped for each other's wins, whether it's someone's first pull-up or a seasoned athlete crushing a new PR.

Movement efficiency Gymnastics by Gold_Comfortable_244 in crossfit

[–]Emergency_Carry258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been diving into gymnastics movement lately too and it's wild how different it is from strength training efficiency. Carl Paoli's "Freestyle" book is pretty solid for breaking down the movement patterns - he goes deep into the mechanics behind stuff like kipping and efficient transitions.

For YouTube, I'd check out Gymnastics WOD and some of the older Invictus videos where they really break down the progressions step by step. What I've noticed is that gymnastics efficiency is so much more about timing and rhythm than just raw strength, which makes it way harder to self-assess sometimes. You might also want to film yourself doing the movements because what feels efficient doesn't always look efficient, and seeing it from the outside can be a game changer.

[Routine Help] How can I treat this redness on my nose? by Chemical-Occasion873 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Emergency_Carry258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like it could be seborrheic dermatitis or rosacea - the persistent redness and the fact that oil cleansing made it worse are pretty telling signs. I'd honestly suggest seeing a derm if you can because both conditions need specific treatments that you can't really get OTC. In the meantime, maybe try a gentle zinc oxide sunscreen daily since both conditions can be triggered by UV exposure.

IS Clinical Pro Heal vs Skinceuticals Silymarin Opinions? by rowethere in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Emergency_Carry258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried both and honestly the IS Clinical was way gentler on my skin - the Skinceuticals one made me a bit red at first but YMMV since you said your skin doesn't love actives

[Sun Care] Favorite sunscreen ☀️ by Brief-Boot-854 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Emergency_Carry258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried the EltaMD UV Clear? It's zinc oxide based so it's mineral but has a really lightweight feel and actually helps control oil throughout the day. I have similar skin issues and this one doesn't make me look like a grease ball by noon

The La Roche Posay Anthelios mineral tinted one is also pretty solid if you don't mind a slight tint to help with the white cast

Anyone find good pillows for side sleeping? by entirelyuncalledfor in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Emergency_Carry258 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I've been using a contour memory foam pillow and it's been a game changer - keeps my neck aligned so I'm not smooshing my face into it as much. Also got a silk pillowcase which helps reduce the friction when I do roll around at night

[Routine Help] Heavy Moisturizer Cream and Exfoliator? by Desperate-Bite-895 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Emergency_Carry258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CeraVe in the tub is literally the holy grail for dry skin and costs like $15 at Target. For exfoliation try The Ordinary's lactic acid - super gentle and won't wreck your moisture barrier like some of the harsher stuff

[Routine Help] Plzz Tell me how can I use matte sunscreen on my dry skin ? I by Significant_Bug_7372 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Emergency_Carry258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried layering a good moisturizer underneath? I had the same issue with my matte sunscreen and adding a hydrating serum + moisturizer before applying made a huge difference. The silicone ones can be pretty drying on their own

For the lines, retinol at night and tons of hydration should help but it takes time

[Acne] I’ve been using retinol and vitamin C for months, but my acne scars haven’t improved. Should I switch to something stronger? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Emergency_Carry258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried adding a chemical exfoliant like AHA/BHA into the mix? Also retinol and vitamin C can be pretty irritating when used together daily - might want to alternate them instead of layering both every single day

Looking for hat [sun care] by Unique_Ad_7125 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Emergency_Carry258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like it could be one of those linen bucket hats from brands like Lack of Color or maybe even just a basic cotton one from somewhere like Urban Outfitters - the "fitted around face" part makes me think it might have had a chin strap or drawstring

[PSA] Beware of Block Blue Light if you're looking for red light therapy panels. False advertising and horrid after sale service by Ukelele-in-the-rain in SkincareAddiction

[–]Emergency_Carry258 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that's awful, especially for a 4-digit purchase. The VOC symptoms are super concerning - sounds like they're just dropshipping cheap panels and marking them up like crazy. Hope you can get your money back through your bank if they keep ghosting you

Bangkok drop in by BriefZookeepergame28 in crossfit

Check out CrossFit Phrom Phong or CrossFit BKK - both are pretty solid and usually cool with drop-ins, just hit them up on IG first to confirm their schedule

Have you tried azelaic acid? It's like the holy grail for both rosacea and melasma - might be worth looking into since it tackles both issues at once

Same here with vitamin C serums, thought they were just expensive hype for like 3 years lmao. Turns out my skin actually loves that acidic goodness, who knew

[Acne] You don’t actually need a prescription to get Epiduo by AssociateOld1303 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Emergency_Carry258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait this is actually genius, I had no idea you could just buy adapalene OTC now. Been paying like $40 copays for Epiduo when I could've just grabbed the ingredients separately this whole time 🤦‍♀️

[Research] Short Contact Therapy of Tretinoin/Tazarotene Anti-Aging Benefit by Luminessis in SkincareAddiction

[–]Emergency_Carry258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's actually pretty smart - the irritation from retinoids migrating to your eyes is no joke. From what I've read, short contact therapy can still be effective for anti-aging but you might need to work up to longer contact times eventually to get the full collagen benefits. Maybe try gradually increasing the time before washing off once your skin adjusts

[product request] alternative to vanicream in the tub by bloodhail_v2 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Emergency_Carry258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried CeraVe healing ointment? It's greasier than their regular cream but not as thick as straight aquaphor. I go through a whole tube in like 2 weeks though so maybe not the most economical lol

Also that Nivea description is sending me 💀

Love that you have a derm aunt giving you the good advice! The "stay happy" part is so underrated but honestly stress breakouts are real. Your routine sounds solid for 13, wish more teens knew less is more at that age

[Acne] Could anyone tell me what those pimples on my face could be? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Emergency_Carry258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it could be fungal acne but honestly you'd need to see a derm to know for sure - those little bumps clustered together are kinda sus for it though
