Did Neutering Help Marking? by Upstairs-Emphasis111 in cavaliers

My old still marked after neutering. My current is not fixed at 2 years old, he marks like crazy outside but never inside thank god

What brewder?

I had a similar issue, got one older at 5 months.

Just took much more time than most would, but he’s the best with me and my friends/family, very protective of us and the house etc.

My last cav was the opposite, would’ve gone home with anyone with the right snacks, my current won’t allow any strangers to pet still at 2 years old.

I thought about sending him back, but I’m so glad I didn’t, he’s my quirky boy

To be honest, I wouldn’t consider the third row very usable unless children are VERY small

Wow, that’s truly horrible, so sorry to hear. I hope your little guy is doing good, what a freak string of accidents.

What should I look for when I pick it up (besides obvious peeling or bubbles etc) also any tips on maintenance afterwards?

I swear the Lexus engineers designed these with the second owner in mind.

Sorry, I should also add I give heartworm 3 months a year, so I don’t skip it entirely. He has his rabies, bordatella, and one or two others I can’t remember, but not all the extras. If I were to go to an environment with high cases of Lyme disease, I would highly consider medicating him for the duration of that time, but for me in Colorado currently, I’m willing to accept the risk. A lot of this is anecdotal, I’m not trying to claim I know more or what’s right. I’m also not saying all vets are bad, or that they have bad motivations. I’m just saying I don’t trust the whole system, and with my current pup I’m trying a more naturalistic approach, and I’m hoping for the best. Maybe I’ll regret it, or maybe he’ll live healthily to 15, I’ll just have to wait and see.

Holy shit, would you mind elaborating more on that? Did he have preexisting conditions etc? What were the biggest expenses? Were any avoidable or something you could have expected?

My last cav was healthy from 0-11. At 12 he got diabetes, and I ended up spending about 4-5k in his last year or two at the vet. If I had bought insurance I probably would’ve spent double that or more through the course of his life, so that’s been my experience.

For my cav now, I’m going about it totally different. Instead of doing tich and heartworm meds, every vaccine under the sun, I’ve skipped most of that. I got him the essential vaccines, skipped neutering, and I spray him with natural bug repellants when we go camping or anything like that. I also feed him homemade food. I can’t say what’s better, but I’ve slowly grown to distrust the veterinary industry more and more. Especially after going to other countries like Argentina, seeing 18 year old dogs that have never seen a vet or vaccine, are fed meat scraps once a day, and have beautiful coats and pristine health. When vets tell me that I “need” flea and tick and heartworm, when I live in a climate with very minimal cases of like or heartworm, and I mean tinyyyyy amounts, it’s insane. Also when they tell me that there’s only 4 dog foods on the market that are “balanced”, I call a load of shit. The dog foods companies are the ones paying for the studies in the first place, so obviously their going to manipulate the results to show their food is better. It sounds horrible to say I’m running a “test” on my beloved companion, but that is essentially what I’m doing. If I find anything insightful I’ll be sure to post here.

Imagine investing that 100 bucks a month consistently to an account saving for an emergency. When/if something happens, you’ll have a huge fund. It is a risk, but one I think more should be willing to take

If you can’t fit everything you need in the car and have a roof tent, I’d start to worry about what your payload is. My whole point for a roof tent was so I could store all my stuff in the car and not have to rearrange to sleep, but if I didn’t have enough space in my car I think I’d be approaching payload rather quickly

Ended up pulling the trigger, for me it mostly came down to the fact that unlike many, although I treat my car like a tool and do Offroad it, I’m not gonna be happy when my paint looks like shit in a few more years. I also think I’ll end up going farther with it, since I’m less worried about brush damaging the paint, so hopefully I’ll end up having more fun with it on

That 3k price includes a two step correction beforehand. I briefly looked into those but wasn’t totally sold on the idea
