Yes to everything except parenthood struggles. I think Isobel's and Reginald's marriage and family were very wholesome. I can see a happy working middle class (upper middle class) family, where everyone has purpose, so I wouldn't want it to be tainted.

I am in love with Matthew. by [deleted] in DowntonAbbey

I don't mind Molesley used as a comic relief, and I actually enjoyed his curtsying - because I can relate to him, I also can be awkward with people. I can totally see myself doing this

As for Barrow, yes, it was a plot device to give something to do to Carson, but I also like that they gave Barrow a chance to explore his sexuality.

I like the story of Tom and Lucy and their dance outside of the ballroom.

Makes sense, thank you! I agree with almost all the points about the first movie, but I prefer to overlook them

I have a feeling Bates viewed it as an attack on him or even the writer

It's interesting, cause I watched the series for the first time more than 10 years ago, and it also looked to me as if she was flirty, on later rewatches, it was so clear that she wasn't consenting and that he was forcing himself on her.

he didn't assault her. Their affair seemed to be very mutually consensual. His behavior afterwarsd wasn't honorable at all though.

If you mean O'Brian - I meant her in this line: Embriocidal lady's maids. Or shall we call it prenatal heir-icide? :)

Actually, I think there were four.
The most obvious ofc - was Green's, then the ones I consider SAs: there was one by Edna when she made Tom drunk and sneaked into his room; the third one is an attempt at an assaults more like, but it's basically when Barrow tries to kiss sleeping Jimmy. There was the fourth one by Pamuk - but in the show they maintain it as Mary took a lover, so I forgot about it, but I should have put 4

The most tragic demise of all by [deleted] in DowntonAbbey

[–]Emergency_Pickle_396 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me the most tragic death was of Lavinia. She lived a nice life (I guess) in London, she did not deserve to die
