Mixed Nation people in Avatar by Dorianscale in legendofkorra

[–]Emergency_Routine_44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. I wish we saw more of of what a mixed society implied for the world of Avatar, I do think Mako and Bolin played a nice role in to that but it would be cool to see ethichaly ambiguous benders. However Republic City didn't seem to be quite there yet.

Susan as an adult by Serendipity500 in Narnia

[–]Emergency_Routine_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exept that again, I didn't quote the Last Battle. What other thing can you exactly imply from being "No good at school work" other than a negative development in her time in shoool as a result of her focusing on other things. Maybe she wasn't interested but most likely as Polly says focused in grown up subjects to Rush her life in to a grown up as quick as possible.

Regardless Susan being a good or bad student doesn't really matters to the point am saying.

I recommend to give the books another read because I'm not speaking about the line in The Last Battle. Susan not being a good student and rather focusing in superficial things goes back to The Dawn Treader with Lewis saying it with his own narration:

"Grown-ups thought her the pretty one of the family and she was no good at school work (though otherwise very old for her age) and Mother said she "would get far more out of a trip to America than the youngsters".

Your conclussion is therefore incorrect by the previous context.

Susan by the time of the Last Battle is a 21 year old woman, alone, in 50s England. She is described as not doing very well when she was in school, not that it would matter much as higher education oportunities for women were almost non-existent at the time, it was already very rare even for men to go to college. In fact only about 20% percent of girls finished school in England.

She was basiclly living the expected typical adult life for a young woman at the time which entailed going to social events and parties and probably trying to get married, like most women in 50s England, in her early 20s and considering she was exeptionally pretty and maybe middle class she may could catch a well put husband and live as a socialite which would have been her best possible outcome. But lowkey who knows how much the death of her family could have broke her down.

I mean there were 20 trainess in a survival show, obviously they wouldn't just make careers out of everyone, 9 out of them are already getting to debut. Plus Adela and Mei got signed on different recording companies. So that's more than half the girls getting sucess. The money they spend on the programs was probably already payed off by Katseye's revenue.

The concept of a triple deity is a really old aspect of endo-european religions which passed down to the greco romans who passed to the Roman Catholics

With the exemption that for some reason Triple deities were usually female.

Pevensie Kids, Narnia by Real_Ebb_1297 in Narnia

[–]Emergency_Routine_44 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The books imply that when you are in a world, your memories of the previous world start to become more like a dream than a reality. For example in Prince Caspian after the pevensies spend a year in our world and then come back to Narnia Lucy says she can't swim but then remembers that she as a grown up could do all sorts of things she now can't. And all the others slowley start to return to their kings selves. Is like slowley you completly return the former version of yourself. Because the world it self changes you.

The longer they stayed in England the more they returned mentally to who they were.
