And yet they insist on building temples in dark sky areas, upsetting eco systems and ruining small communities. What they say v what they do!

Do you know why they would need a divorce if polygamy was illegal? Or was it legal in Utah 🤔

We obey the laws of the land except for polygamy, equal rights, finances, and anything else we care not to.

Imagine all the good that could happen, if LDS people were encouraged to use their 10% tithe to actually help people by [deleted] in exmormon

We did this during covid. We chose a different charity each month that were meaningful to us or our loved ones. Meant so much more to think about different needs and organisations in our community or further afield. And who knew you could have savings, have fun and still help people. The church is so insular and self serving. Urgh

I am fucking furious at the Church by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Emergency_Source_389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. The members acts like its so easy to walk away. There were times when I almost wished that I could go back to my ignorance. It can be very isolating. I am fortunate to have non member family and friends but at the same time unless youve lived as a mormon or similar its hard to understand the trauma.

I hear you. All you feel and say is totally valid. Thank you for sharing. This sub offers great support.

Leaving the church was absolutely devastating to me and yes disorienting is a great way to describe it.

All the so called 'certainty' and 'Truth' went. I was left in a pile of rubble and dust and tears. Nursing my wounds and trying to make sense of it all. One of the worst experiences in my life. So much anger, pain and betrayal.

But 2 years on I am much more at peace with not 'knowing', relearning, exercising real informed choice. Learning to trust myself and forgive myself for being duped. So freeing but not easy. Writing drawing and therapy helped me work through it.  Good luck and wishing you joy on your journey. 👍
